A resident of Morpeth, Hélène DUCK passed away at the Village Retirement Residence, Ridgetown on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at the age of 88. Born in Morpeth, daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (KIMMERLY) DUCK. Sister of the late Donald DUCK (2004) and his wife Monica of Morpeth. Aunt of Dan and Frances DUCK of Lucknow, Allan and Norine DUCK of Morpeth and Jeannette and Greg SYMONS of Chatham. Hélène will also be fondly remembered by her great-nieces and nephews Jody DUCK, Tim DUCK, Heather and Steve KIESWETTER, Peter and JoLynn DUCK, Nancy and Curtis HILDEBRAND, Jennifer and Mak DARAWI, Christina DUCK and Melissa SYMONS. Great-great-aunt of Julianna DARAWI and Carolyn DUCK. She will also be dearly missed by her friend Marjorie GIDDIS.
Hélène taught for 35 years in Morpeth at S.S.#2 and Howard-Harwick Moravian School. With great sorrow the family announces the loss of Anna Eada KESSLER on March 15th, 2005 in her 28th year, in Edmonton, Alberta. Dearly loved daughter of John and Stephanie. She will be deeply missed by her sister Andrea and brothers Michael and Jeremy. Much loved granddaughter of June ENGEL and the late Daisy and Maury KESSLER. Greatniece of James and Joyce GUTMANN, of Phyllis and Ken ANDREWS, John and Pat DYKE, Colin and Rita DYKE. Anna will be sadly missed by her cousins Kathryn and Earl and Michelle, Ayella, Zahara, Keely GROSSMAN, Gail and Bob and Chris, Olivia DUCK, Jeff DYKE, and Judy, Colin, Susan (DYKE) and Seven, Cedar and Dylan WELSH, and her extended family in Europe. A private funeral was held in Toronto. Anna finished high school in Toronto, graduated with Honours in Philosophy from University of Toronto, went on to post graduate studies on a scholarship at Cornell University, and was currently finishing her Ph.D. in Philosophy at University of Alberta in Edmonton. She will be granted a posthumous Doctorate this year from the University of Alberta. Anna was a highly sensitive, gifted, courageous and caring person. She loved dogs, horses and hockey. Anna will be remembered with great affection by her many Friends and colleagues around the world. Born on June 18, 1931, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 24, 2005. Wilma was a life long resident of Dixie, where she played baseball, hockey and curled. Wilma will be missed by husband of more than 48 years, Reuben T. (Buster) DUCK, and their two sons and their wives, Bill and Anne, Mark and Sue. Wilma cherished her grandchildren Jason, Kyle, Rebecca, Paul and Melissa. Beloved sister of James STANFIELD and Anna CARR and her husband Ted. Wilma was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel STANFIELD. Wilma will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews along with the many Friends she has accumulated in her travels. With immense sadness, the family announces the sudden loss of Jim on Saturday, May 21st, 2005. Jim will be dearly missed by his wife Sally, children Leslie and Mario, Rick and Edith and Wayne and Bonnie. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Jessica, Meredith and Robert and Emily and Earl. Jim was dedicated to making this world a better place. Memorial Service at Glenview Presbyterian Church, 1 Glenview Avenue (Yonge Street, north of Eglinton, south of Lawrence) on Thursday, May 26 at 3: 00 p.m. Reception to follow from 4-6 p.m. If desired, donations to the Rotary Club of Toronto - Eglinton Foundation, 44 Price Street, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 1Z4 would be appreciated. At Scarborough Hospital, succumbed after a lengthy illness, in his 83rd year. A most beloved husband of Doris (predeceased 1995), a most loved father of Mary and Rex BEDDOWS, Jim and Karen HALL, Sally GOULD (Todd WYATT.) Best grandfather of Michelle and Rob DUCKWORTH, Stephanie and Ian MADELEY, Anne BEDDOWS, Samantha HALL, Rick FICA, Joey GOULD. Proud great-grandfather of Bryan DUCKWORTH and Lauren MADELEY. Uncle to Norman HALL, Dorothy and Lawrence BENEDICT, Grace and Bren MARSH, Bill SCHOALES, Wilma SCHOALES. A proud World War 2 Veteran of the Italian campaign (Seaforth Highlanders,) (War) buddy and friend to Ted JENKENS, Bill HUSSY, Ken ARMSTRONG. A special friend to many but especially card playing Nancy. Keeping with Dad's wishes a small private service was held September 14, 2005. Passed away peacefully at the Humber River Regional Hospital, Church Site on Monday, October 17, 2005, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late John Duncan NOCHAR. Loving mother of Diane and her husband William CRAWFORD. Much loved grandmother of David and Jane, Sandra and Jean François, Stephen and Nicole, and great-grandmother of Caitlin and Erin. Dear sister of the late Doris DUCKWORTH, Winnie BRACEWELL and Richard BRACEWELL. She will be remembered by her nephews David and John BRACEWELL and their families. Peacefully on December 17, 2005 in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Doreen (née DUCKWORTH) for 54 years. Father of Gail BAXTER, Gary, Glen and his wife Janice. Grandfather of seven and one great-grand_son. Brother to Noreen HINGSTON and predeceased by brothers Melville and Earl. Retired from Uxbridge Fire Department in 1993 after 41 years of dedicated service, Uxbridge Fire Chief from 1973 to 1993. Member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years and past master of Zeredatha Lodge. Uxbridge Citizen of the Year in 1993. Owned and operated Norm James Sales and Service Ltd. for over 30 years with his son Glen. Involved in the Ontario Tractor Pullers Assoc., The Allis Chalmers Club, York-Durham Heritage Railroad and Uxbridge Museum Steam Show. The family will receive Friends at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S., Uxbridge on Tuesday, December 20th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, December 21st from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic Service December 21st at 6: 30 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at Uxbridge Trinity United Church, 20 First Ave., Uxbridge, on Thursday, December 22nd at 2 p.m. with interment at Uxbridge Cemetery. SMITH, Gordon Irvine
Royal Air Force Pilot (1939-1945) in Europe and the Pacific
Gordon passed away peacefully, in his sleep, on Saturday morning, December 24, 2005. He leaves behind, "Ducky" (Merle Louise DUCKWORTH,) his closest friend for over 30 years; her daughters, Lucinda MORELLI (Frank), Margaret (Meg) FLETCHER (Don), and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gordon was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. He came to Canada in 1966, and worked in the insurance industry with Zurich Canada and Combined Insurance. He completed his working days at the Toronto Transit Commission. He retired, with Merle, to Elliot Lake. His final days were with Merle, in Craiglee Nursing Home, in Scarborough. Gordon will be buried in Elliot Lake in May 2006. A Memorial Service, for family and Friends, will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2006, in the Chapel, at Craiglee Nursing Home, 102 Craiglee Drive, Scarborough.
