cousins. Born in Port Burwell, Ontario, December 2, 1935, son
of the late William and Alice
(ALLEN)
FRISHETTE. He spent three
summers (1952-1954) as a construction worker, helping to build
the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Dr.
FRISHETTE was a 1954
graduate of the Saint Thomas Collegiate Institute (S.T.C.I.). He
won multiple awards that year, winning a scholarship in physics
and chemistry from the University of Western Ontario and two
bursaries, one from the Atkinson Foundation and one from the
Dominion-Provincial Fund. Dr.
FRISHETTE went on to attend the
University of Western Ontario Medical School, graduating cum
laude in 1960. In his final year he was awarded the Kingswood
Scholarship by the medical school faculty. Dr.
FRISHETTE interned
at St. Joseph's Hospital in London. He served two years postgraduate
work in pathology at the Regional Laboratory in London and two
years in postgraduate work in pathology at the University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor. He worked for a year as a pathologist at
the Veterans' Administration Hospital, Ann Arbor, and one year
at Victoria Hospital, London. In 1969, Dr.
FRISHETTE commenced
working as a pathologist at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital
and in 2001 retired as Chief Pathologist. He was interested in
auto racing throughout his whole life. Dr.
FRISHETTE was also
a great lover of animals and wildlife, and leaves behind a home
full of pets that will miss him dearly. At Dr.
FRISHETTE's request,
there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private
family graveside service will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park,
Saint Thomas. Memorial donations to Pets Friends for Life gratefully
acknowledged. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home,
118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas.
