DOULL, Lloyd C. (1916-2005)
Member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 9 Hong Kong Veteran Following illness at Saint Mary's of the Lake Hospital (Kingston) on Monday, January 10, 2005. son of the late Llewellyn Edward and Mary Ethel Cissell DOULL. Predeceased by Peggy, his beloved wife of 55 years, and by siblings Leonard, Frances, Jenny and Saidie. Dear father of Jim (Jill) and Ian. Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Laura and John. Survived also by his brother Bill (Claire) and sister Helen. Lloyd was born in Atholville, New Brunswick and spent much of his adult life in Drummondville, Quebec. Self-educated, he progressed from factory work to become a Director of Industrial Engineering. In December 1941, as a Sergeant in the Royal Rifles of Canada, Lloyd saw action in the Battle of Hong Kong. Following capitulation on Christmas Day 1941, Lloyd and his comrades endured 44 months of disease, starvation and slave labour in Japanese prison camps. Lloyd bore the physical and emotional scars of this ordeal for the rest of his life, and was cared for with endless devotion by Peggy, whom he survived by only 27 days. Following the war Lloyd became active in volunteer and community work, and devoted much of his time fighting for the welfare of his fellow veterans, serving a term as President of the Hong Kong Veterans' Association. Lloyd will always be remembered for his gentle disposition, his concern for others, the strength of his convictions, and the depth of his wisdom. We miss Lloyd and Peggy deeply, and will cherish their memories forever. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Tompkins, 435 Davis Drive (Waterloo Village), Kingston on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 9 will gather Wednesday at the funeral home at 7 p.m. for a service. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 2: 00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Deeply cherished husband of more then 30 years of Marilyn (MURRAY.) Proud father of John, David, Sarah and her husband Brian GILLESPIE. Adored Grandad of Noah and Matthew. "Heaven has just become richer as Dorothy "Dot" LENNAN has been received into Heaven with love, after a long, courageous battle with cancer". Dorothy died at Bluewater Health Norman Street Site, Sarnia on December 5, 2005 at the age of 84. Dorothy was an Audit Supervisor at Sears for 25 years, was president of the Sarnia Pilot Club and was a volunteer at Bluewater Health, Norman Street Site, for 12 years. She was also involved in the Relay for Life, was a valued member of the Women's Missionary Society, volunteered with Community Living at Wawanosh Enterprises and was an active member of Laurel Lea-St. Matthews Church. Dorothy met the challenges of her illness with much love and altruism. God sent angels to care for Dorothy in the persons of the very caring and concerned nurses of Palliative Care, until God was ready for her. Loving and devoted wife for 63 years of Roy E. "Bonnie" LENNAN. Loving mother of Cheryl and Barry HOWSON of Sarnia, Daryl and Faye LENNAN of Bright's Grove and Cindy DOUMA of Guelph. Much loved by many nieces and nephews. Kirk worked with the Royal Bank of Canada for 44 years beginning in Kincardine and ending in Toronto as a Vice-President of Corporate Lending. He was a proud member of R.C.A.F. during World War 2.

We shall remember her very loving Friends who gave her loyal support during her courageous struggle with cancer. We thank Dr. RHODES and all of the members of the Halton Support Services for their outstanding care of Gladys during her last weeks at home. Her retirement after 25 years with St. Mary's Cement Company was filled with her many Friends. She loved her family, Friends, bridge, golf (she was a member of the Oakville Golf Club), volunteering at the Oakville Hospital, travelling, gardening and life in general all to the fullest. Went to be with his Lord and Saviour, at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, Petrus (Peter) HOGEVEEN, in his 78th year. Beloved husband for 50 years of the late Tillie (née BOONSTRA.) Loving father of Jerry and his wife Eunice, Rudy and his wife Diana, Toby and his wife Linda, Wilf and his wife Jennifer, Randy and his wife Louise, Peter Jr. and his wife Melody. Predeceased by a son, Timothy James, in 1992. Loving grandfather of Jessica, Jeremy, Esmé, Jaclyn, Emily, Rachel, Michael, Simone, Patrick, Rebecca, Charlotte and Zöe. Dear brother of Andy and his wife Pat, Ann and her husband Melvin WERKMAN, Sylvia and her husband Ted VISSER, Andy and his wife the late Dinie, Shirley and her husband Ibe BERGSMA, Frances and her husband George VANDERSLUIS, Sytske and her husband Homme WOLTHUIZEN, Toby and the late Sally, brother-in-law of Alice and John MANS. He was an active member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association and enjoyed his new found hobby of golf. Friends will be received at the Dennis Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Thursday 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service at Hope Christian Reformed Church, Buchanan at Dunsdon Street, Brantford on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard Grift officiating.
