Victoria was born on March 7, 2005 and passed away March 25, 2005, peacefully at home in the arms of her parents, surrounded by family. She is survived by her brother Thomas and great-grandmothers Leda PIETERS, Eilleen BELL and Corry VAN DER LINDE. She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband and lifelong "Buddy" Dicky SCHULTE, and her three loving daughters, Fiona, Carol and Franca. She is also survived by her brothers Frits DIEPEN, Peter DIEPEN and sisters Inge DIEPEN and Birgit VAN DER VEN. After a long and hard battle, she will always be remembered for her courage, strength, and determination to live. She will also be honoured for her selfless commitment to others, especially in the name of Raptim and Missionary Travel. Passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005, at home, in his 75th year. Harley▼ was the cherished husband of Jean (née VAN DER VORD,) son of the late Mildred and Harold SIMPSON and brother of Donald. He will be greatly missed by his children Jennifer (Pat BYERS,) Peter (Diane PAP,) Ann▼ WICKS (Brian,) and Linda ROOTE (Kevin) and his grandchildren Matthew, Richard, Amanda, Adam, Josie, Spencer, Brittany and Ashley. Many other relatives and Friends, including Ross FREESTONE and Helen and Neil FIELD will also remember Harley fondly.
Harley and Jean enjoyed a lifetime together. They met in kindergarten Harley proposed at age 14 and they were married for 51 happy years. Even in his last days, Harley was worrying about how his "bride" was feeling. Aside from his family, Harley loved his cottage, his car, his grass, his workshop and a good game of cards. He was a successful businessman who served as a mentor for many individuals along the way. Harley was a man to be counted on when help was needed. Thanks to Doctors KHAN, BARNES and PARKER, V.J., ROBINS and all the others who helped Harley over the past months. You are truly credits to your professions. HANNIBAL, Dr. Emmett Ronald
Suddenly and unexpectedly on September 25, 2005, Emmett passed on to a better place. Emmett was born March 21, 1944 in Dumont, New Jersey, the eldest child of Emmett Wendell HANNIBAL and his wife Julia BETHEA. He was predeceased by his brother William and his former wife Judy COOK. He is survived by his beloved son Adam, his sister Ernestine of Newport News, Virginia, her three children James, Sylvia and Sophia, his sister Carolyn of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and her two children John and David. Also left to cherish his memory are his many Friends whose stories of his life will be shared during the Funeral Service on Wednesday October 5, 11: 30 a.m. at the Thomson Funeral Chapel. Emmett practised his selfless respect for others unfailingly. He was the recipient of a Queen's Jubilee Medal, which pays tribute to individuals whose achievements have benefited their fellow citizens, community and country. At the time of his death, Emmett was the Regional Director of Planning at Health Canada for the Manitoba and Saskatchewan Region. Prior to this position, he was a Human Resources Officer with the Public Service Commission, a Project Consultant with City of Winnipeg, and the Associate Director of Continuing Education at the University of Winnipeg. Emmett earned his Masters and Doctorate in Education from Harvard University. His appointment in 1975 as head of public programs and education at the Winnipeg Art Gallery brought Emmett to Canada from Boston, Massachusetts. Emmett spent the years 1980-1981 as visiting curator and lecturer at the Museum of Anthropology, University of British Columbia. He returned to Winnipeg in 1981 as chief of public programs at the Museum of Man and Nature; one of his legacies from this time was the supervision of the building of the Nonsuch exhibit. Emmett possessed a unique combination of deep soulfulness and superb intellect. Those who knew him felt privileged to experience his essence. His devotion to his faith was expressed in his long service and commitment to Unity Church. Emmett believed there was a divine order to life and no matter what challenge or adversity he faced, he did so with great dignity, discipline and focus. Emmett tended meticulously to his bonsai collection, was an avid reader and could speak in depth on almost any subject. Pallbearers are Art LADD, Luis CARDONA, Bill REGEHR, Dwight GASKIN, Bill EWANCHUK and Robert EMENY. Honourary pallbearers are Michael McINTYRE, Adam CURLE, Krikor DER HOHANNESIAN. Viewing will take place at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 10: 30 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Thomson in the Park. At Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, February 9th, 2005, after a brief, intense illness, Charles HOOK, of Hastings, formerly of Toronto, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Joan for over 35 years, with stepchildren Brad NEWMAN (Jeiley,) Jan VAN DER REEST (Gary), Barbara LEGGE (Max), and daughter-in-law Teresa KRAWCZYK/ NEWMAN. His grandchildren are Kevin, Ryan (Margo,) Darek, Lara, Courtney, Jason, Dylan, Jared and Daniel. Predeceased by his parents and his son-in-law, Jeff NEWMAN. Charles served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940-1945. He was a 30 year former employee of the City of Toronto City Hall Health Department (Accounting). He was an avid sports fan, card player, ice skater, storyteller, and loved to chat with all who crossed his path. He will be greatly missed and is loved by all. A special thank you to Dr. WILKIN, Dr. McMILLAN, Dr. ROWSOM and the Intensive Care Unit staff of Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Passed away Sunday February 27, 2005, at home, in his 75th year. Harley▲ was the cherished husband of Jean (née VAN DER VORD,) son of the late Mildred and Harold SIMPSON and brother of Donald. He will be greatly missed by his children Jennifer (Pat BYERS,) Peter (Diane PAP,) Ann▲ WICKS (Brian,) and Linda ROOTE (Kevin) and his grandchildren Matthew, Richard, Amanda, Adam, Josie, Spencer, Brittany and Ashley. Many other relatives and Friends, including Ross FREESTONE and Helen and Neil FIELD will also remember Harley fondly. Harley and Jean enjoyed a lifetime together. They met in kindergarten; Harley proposed at age 14 and they were married for 51 happy years. Even in his last days, Harley was worrying about how his "bride" was feeling. Aside from his family, Harley loved his cottage, his car, his grass, his workshop and a good game of cards. He was a successful businessman who served as a mentor for many individuals along the way. Died peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital (Civic Campus), Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of Alice Christina MacKENZIE, his wife of 53 years. Fondly remembered by his three children, Leslie (Guy NELSON,) Elspeth GAUKRODGER (Robert McADAM) and David GAUKRODGER (Tamara MAWHINNEY) and his four grandchildren, Ryan, Trevor, Jocelyn and Liseanne. Survived by his sister Gwen (Ralph DERBY) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Predeceased by his three sisters, Isabel TENNANT, Eloise STEABNER and Eleanor NIXON and his parents, Reverend Clement and Margaretta (JAMES) GAUKRODGER. Bill graduated with a Medical Degree from Queen's University in 1953, then he studied Ophthalmology at the University of Chicago Clinics and Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Bill practiced Ophthalmology in Ottawa for 37 years, in private practice and at the Ottawa Civic, Riverside, Grace and Perley Hospitals. He also lectured in Clinical Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Bill is remembered for his love of home movies, organ music, sailing, skiing, golf and travel. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who assisted Bill in his last days at Saint-Vincent Hospital and the Ottawa Civic Hospital (Rehabilitation Centre and Civic Campus).
