It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing our dear mother and grandmother, Helen Margaret (MUNN) FERRIGNO on January 27, 2005 at Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall, in her 89th year. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank FERRIGNO (1966.) Dearly loved by her son Robert, daughter Deborah and grand_son Beau Ramsey HALL, all of Hoboken, New Jersey. She is survived by her brother Gordon MUNN and his wife Jean, sister Betty SIMMONS and her husband Jack and sisters-in-law Audrey, Wilma, Beatrice and Eunice MUNN and many nieces and nephews in Ontario and New Jersey. Predeceased by brothers Cecil, Harold, Jack, Ted, Sandy, Donald, sister Dorothy, brother-in-law Gordon T. MUNN and sisters-in-law Helen and Norma MUNN.
Helen was born in Hensall and graduated from Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London Ontario. She served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Nursing Sister during World War 2. She lived in New Jersey for 35 years before returning to Hensall in 1984. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted in the Hensall Visitation Chapel, 79 King Street, Hensall on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service, Pastor Fred DARKE officiating. Spring interment in Hensall Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall United Church or a charity of choice. J. M. Jean LAVENDER died February 23 at the Victoria Manor Care Facility in Lindsay, Ontario. Jean grew up in Winnipeg, attending Kelvin High School, then Wesley College. After completing her Library Science degree at the University of Toronto, she became a Music Librarian at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and eventually head Librarian at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. She served there until the early nineteen eighties and will be remembered with affection and esteem by for mer students and faculty members. Jean's many enthusiasm included the world of arts and letters and an intense love of the natural world. Her travels at home and abroad brought her keen enjoyment and she had the gift of imparting her enthusiasm to others. She was a born raconteur, using a distinctive turn of phrase make a simple anecdote memorable. Jean was predeceased by her parents, older sister Kitty and brother Dick. She is survived by her nephew Bill STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and family, niece Alison DARLING and family and niece Deirdre LAVENDER, all of Winnipeg and nephew Harold LAVENDER of Vancouver, as well as cousins Betty LAVENDER of Winnipeg, Margaret GRAEB of Toronto and Elsie LORCH of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. In later years she was blessed with the care and love of extended family members Pat and Jack BOUSFIELD of Lindsay. LAVENDER, Jean▲ Irene▲ (1918-2005)
Jean LAVENDER died February 23, 2005 at the Victoria Manor Care Facility in Lindsay, Ontario. Jean grew up in Winnipeg, attending Kelvin High School, then Wesley College. After completing her Library Science degree at the University of Toronto, she became a Music Librarian at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and eventually head Librarian at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. She served there until the early nineteen eighties and will be remembered with affection and esteem by former students and faculty members. Jean's many enthusiams included the world of arts and letters and an intense love of the natural world. Her travels at home and abroad brought her keen enjoyment and she had the gift of imparting her enthusiasm to others. She was a born raconteur, using a distinctive turn of phrase to make a simple anecdote memorable. Jean was predeceased by her parents, older sister Kitty and brother Dick. She is survived by her nephew Bill STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and family, niece Alison DARLING and family, and niece Deirdre LAVENDER, all of Winnipeg, and nephew Harold LAVENDER of Vancouver, as well as cousins Betty LAVENDER of Winnipeg, Margaret GRAEB of Toronto and Elsie LORCH of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. In later years she was blessed with the care and love of extended family members Pat and Jack BOUSFIELD of Lindsay. Dorothy Tamar WILSON, Wednesday, February 2, 2005, Dorothy WILSON of Tillsonburg slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord and her loving family in Heaven. She was 3 weeks from her 89th birthday. Born and raised in Lakeview, she was the daughter of Frank and Mabel (CHUTE) BRACKENBURY. Dorothy lived a long and fulfilling life. She entered Nurse's Training but was unable to complete due to illness. However, she continued interest in health and medicines and was known for her healing creams which she gave to everyone. She was Post mistress in Thamesford for 20 years. After retiring to Aylmer in 1976 she devoted her time to producing beautiful flowers in her gardens, caring for her mother and traveling with Tom. Like her brother Paul she had a strong interest in her family history. Dorothy was a loyal member of North Broadway Baptist Church, W.M.F. and Plus 50. She was always concerned about the welfare of her Friends and family and was generous to all of them. She loved knitting and gave away baby shawls and many pairs of mittens for children. She will be missed deeply by all her Friends and her surviving family.
She was a wonderful mother to Ken and Ferne RICHARDSON of Merrickville and Marian and Robert SMITH of Tillsonburg and a loving grandmother to Andrew and Karen RICHARDSON, Christine SMITH and Robin VERKUIL. Her surviving sisters are Betty SHERER of Tennessee, Barbara CLARKE of Burlington, Mary DANBROOK and Keith of Tillsonburg, Lois TAILOR/TAYLOR and George of Ottawa, Gloria Gibson and Paul of Hamilton, Diana ANDERSON and Bernie HOLDEN of Vienna, Shirley BRACKENBURY and Irene BRACKENBURY and Bill VANDENEECKHOUT of Tillsonburg and Aunt Ruby BRACKENBURY of Aylmer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy lost both her brothers, Larry BRACKENBURY (1971) and Paul BRACKENBURY (Jan. 14/05.) She also outlived husbands Norman RICHARDSON (1967,) Doug WILSON (1971) and Thomas DARLISON (1992). Peacefully at home in Suomi Koti, Toronto, at age 88, on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005. Born in Kakisalmi, Finland, Karl immigrated with his family to Toronto, where he met his wife-to-be, Muriel DARLOW. Karl had the foresight to turn the family farm in Unionville into a golf course named Unionville Fairways. For more than 60 years he was supported in this and all other endeavours by his loving and devoted wife, Muriel, until God took her home in 1998. Noted for his patience and Finnish 'sisu', Karl delighted in gardening, fishing and solving mechanical problems. Predeceased by parents Lyyli LEHTINEN and Toivo WUOHELA, and brothers Ilkka and Charles. Karl is survived by daughter Beatrice, son Kenneth, son James and his wife Lorrie, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, (416) 773-0933.
