WALLNER, Joseph Peter " Joe"
Died peacefully, on March 2, 2005 at Wellington House Nursing Home in Prescott, Ontario, after several years of declining health, in his 88th year. Born April 11, 1917 in Hanover, Ontario, and a long-time resident of Ancaster and Burlington, Joe was known throughout his life as a fine gentleman who championed through his actions his belief in God, family, his country and the credit union movement. Active in credit unions from an early age, Joe joined the staff of CUNA Mutual▼ in 1951 and travelled extensively in Canada, the U.S. and abroad to support the growth and development of credit unions, and insurance services for credit unions. In 1954-1955 he was president of CUNA (Hamilton) Credit Union. He established many lasting Friendships through his business travels, retiring as Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations, for CUMIS in 1982. He also was active in the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, serving as its president in 1976. In World War 2, Joe served first in the Merchant Marine and then more than three years in Ferry Command, delivering planes and equipment across the Atlantic. His patriotism was still evident years later when he organized a door-to-door campaign in Burlington to encourage families to proudly fly their country's flag on Canada Day. Dozens of families took part, including virtually everyone on Joe's street. Joe was a founding member of two Catholic parishes and was a founding director of St. Louis Parish Credit Union, which became Waterloo Regional Credit Union and where he retained membership for more than 50 years. He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Burlington for 37 years. The family express their deepest appreciation to Father John APPELMAN and the Pastoral Care Group at Saint Mark's Parish, Prescott, who supported Joe's faith in many kind ways in recent years. Joe's other great faith was in medical practitioners, from whom he received stellar care, particularly in his declining years. The family would especially like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Wellington House, where he spent his last four years, as well as Dr. Maung Tun ZAW of Burlington and Dr. Gun BHATT of Prescott. Joe was the dear father of John WALLNER (Sheila) of Gatineau, Quebec, and Eloise COLEMAN (Tom) of Toronto and Brockville. He was predeceased by two loving wives: Audrey Mary BENINGER, (1981,) and Margaret WHITELEY, (1992.) He is survived by his sister Salome (Mrs. Dan DACEY) of Thunder Bay, and brother George WALLNER (Phyllis) of Guelph, and was predeceased by three siblings; Sister Mary SALOME, S.S.N.D.; Gertrude (Mrs. James DAVIDSON) of Kenora; and Flight-Sergeant John WALLNER of Hanover, who was shot down in action August 18, 1943, 15 months after serving as Joe and Audrey's best man. He was 23. Peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton on Saturday, October 8, 2005 in his 81st year. Predeceased by his beloved son Allan Harvey LANCTOT (Arlene) and loving father of Gloria DEASE, Kathryn WILEY (Brian) and Anne COSTIE (Mark.) Dear friend of their mother, Frances LANCTOT, and of his wife Janine MORIN, currently residing in Montreal. Proud grandfather of Michelle (Peter), LeeAnne (Mike), Tracey (Kevin), Allan Jr., Kristie (Jason), Mark, Tara (Chris), Brian, Stephen and nine beautiful greatgrandchildren. Also sadly missed by his sister Laurette ROUSSEAU of Montreal, his nieces and nephews and his Friends at the Residences on Augusta. Harvey retired from the CUMIS Group in 1990 where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. He chose to make credit unionism a life long commitment when in 1945 he joined Windsor Credit Union in Montreal. He served as Managing Director of the Quebec Credit Union League from 1953 to 1956 and during that period organized more that 125 credit unions and caisses populaires. He devoted 34 years of his life to the CUMIS Group, since joining its forer unner, the CUNA Mutual▲ Insurance Society in 1956. His aspirations and vision led to the for mation of the CUMIS Life Insurance Company and later the CUMIS General Insurance Company, The CUMIS Group Limited and Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company. In addition to his full time career with the CUMIS Group he demonstrated extraordinary leadership and diplomacy while serving on the boards of directors of the Canadian Co-operative Credit Society, Canadian Co-operative Association, Co-operative Trust Company of Canada and Co-operators Data Services Limited. He demonstrated a true philanthropic concern for his fellow citizens and for his community at large, having served as an active director on the boards of Big Brothers Association of Hamilton, St. Joseph's Villa of Dundas, the Hamilton and District Chamber of Commerce, St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home in Hamilton, the Hamilton and District Social Planning and Research Council, the Rotary Club of Hamilton, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation, Big Brothers of Canada, president of the United Way of Canada, president of the Hamilton & District United Appeal, president of the Catholic Youth Organization Diocese of Hamilton, chairman of the Hamilton-Wentworth District Health Council and upon his retirement from the CUMIS Group was recognized with a lifetime appointment as Director Emeritus of all the CUMIS Group of companies. At Dad's request, private cremation has taken place. Hugh served in both the Canadian Army "The Kent Regiment" and the Royal Canadian Air Force. He farmed in Chatham Twp. all of his life and was known as the Mayor of Oungah, Ontario. Hugh was employed by Chrysler Canada for 28 years as a mechanic and was a proud member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion as well as treasurer of Wing 411 Royal Canadian Air Force. Peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital on Monday, September 19, 2005 at the age of 74. Douglas was the son of Clayton P. McENTEER and Mary E. WALLACE. He is survived by his beloved family -- wife of 47 years Sybil (née MOON,) daughter Alison, and her husband James CUMMING and their children Rachel and Sarah of Toronto, son Douglas Edward of Richmond Hill and brother-in-law Alan MOON of Thunder Bay. Doug enjoyed immensely his careers as a geologist in the iron ore area of Schefferville, Quebec and as a teacher of Mathematics -- latterly in York Region. After retirement he enjoyed having more time for his passions of travelling, duplicate bridge, classical music and golf. Since his diagnosis of liver cancer in January 2003 he never gave up, and he felt fortunate to have had the benefit of the outstanding skill and care from the health professionals who have supported him along the way. Our family is most grateful for their dedicated and loving care. A service to honour Doug's life will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, on Monday, September 26 at 11 a.m. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital on Monday, September 19, 2005 at the age of 74. Douglas was the son of Clayton P. McENTEER and Mary E. WALLACE. He is survived by his beloved family - wife of 47 years Sybil (née MOON,) daughter Alison and her husband James CUMMING and their children Rachel and Sarah of Toronto, son Douglas Edward of Richmond Hill and brother-in-law Alan MOON of Thunder Bay. Doug enjoyed immensely his careers as a geologist in the iron ore area of Schefferville, Quebec and as a teacher of Mathematics - latterly in York Region. After retirement, he enjoyed having more time for his passions of travelling, duplicate bridge, classical music and golf. Since his diagnosis of liver cancer in January 2003 he never gave up, and he felt fortunate to have had the benefit of the outstanding skill and care from the health professionals who have supported him along the way. Our family is most grateful for their dedicated and loving care. After a two year valiant struggle following a stroke, Meg found peace on October 15, 2005. She left this world the hard way... but not without bringing so much happiness to everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She loved and lived for her family, her husband of 57 years, Vaughan, her four daughters, Susan (Mrs. Ronald WALLACE,) Lindsay, Ontario and their children Peter and Andrew; Janet (Mrs. James CUMMING), Atlanta, Georgia and their children Blair, Jared, Paxton and Leah; Carol (Mrs. Garry STEWARD/STEWART/STUART,) Burlington, Ontario and children Emily and Victoria; and Gillian (Mrs. Stephen MOORE,) Toronto. She also leaves four great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. David CHARLES and her brother, Reverend Alwyn CHARLES. Born in Llanelli, Wales, Meg and her husband immigrated to Canada in 1952, a decision they never regretted. Upon moving to Toronto from Montreal she discovered the church that was to mean so much to her for the rest of her life; the Dewi Sant Welsh United Church, 33 Melrose Ave. A service in her honour will be held at a date to be determined and her ashes will be scattered on the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands near the spot where so many joyful Lewis family reunions have been held over the years. We thank all those for their prayers, those who kept sending cards of comfort, those who visited and sang to her and those who simply came to speak to her in Welsh. We also find it difficult to adequately express the profound gratitude we owe to all of the wonderful staff at Thompson House, Don Mills, who gave Meg such outstanding loving care and comfort each and every day over the past two years. Peggy then taught nursing for 15 years at Quo Vadis and later at Humber College in Toronto. Peggy also wrote a nursing text book and was a long time member of the North York Dog Club, bred dogs and was a qualified National Obedience Judge. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John William FOOTE, M.D., (F.R.C.S.C) on April 26th, 2005 at age 67 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, and raised in Montreal, he was Assistant Professor of Surgery at McGill University, Chief of Urology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and a urologist at The Royal Victoria Hospital.
Survived by his wife Jennifer and his five children Andrew FOOTE, John FOOTE, Tim FOOTE, Valerie Foote ROGERS, and Rod FOOTE. Also survived by his sisters Joan Ann CRAIGIE, Jill CONROD, Jennifer GILFILLIAN, June SLAKOV, Wendy CUMMINGS, and Pam COUPLAND and nine grandchildren. Predeceased by his mother Joan Francis BUCKLEY and his father William Rodgers FOOTE.
John was an exceptionally kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, surgeon, teacher, and friend. He will be so very missed by many.

PATTERSON, A. Russel (1937-2005)
All too soon, on Saturday, November 26th, 2005 at Saint Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Kingston, in the comforting presence of a gracious God and a family whose love knows no limit. Russ was the beloved husband of Sharon Marie (née CLARK) and the cherished father and mentor of Timothy and his wife Christine of Apsley, and Christopher of Toronto. He was the proud grandfather of Carly and Hailey. Ross will be sadly missed by Sharon's family: Mom, Jean Clark, Carol and Maurice RANKIN, Faith CLARK, Laurie and Diana CLARK, Sylvia and Dennis MILLS, Jim and Brenda CLARK and their families. His cousins Jim and the late Agnes CUMMINGS, Raymond and the late David PATTERSON, Robert and Sandra PATTERSON, Don and Nora SMITH, Margaret and Wally REVELL and Lorne and Wendy McBRIDE are also a treasured part of his family. He was predeceased by his parents Mamie and Russel Sr. Russ received his education at Trent and Queen's Universities. After 15 years as a draftsman and with the loving support of his family, he began his teaching career at Fenelon Falls. A new adventure began in 1983 when Sharon was ordained by The United Church of Canada and the family moved to Arcola, Saskatchewan. Russ taught in five schools and directed the band program for the school division. He finished out a rewarding career at Dunbarton High School in Pickering. Russ and Sharon returned to Kingston in 1997. He has derived much pleasure in preparing family histories and playing music. He appreciated the love and support of his family and Friends throughout his life. His family would like to thank Judith of All-Care; all of the medical personnel who assisted during his illness, and the wonderful staff at Saint Mary's of the Lake for their care and kindness. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard), Kingston, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Tuesday, November 29, 2005 for service at Queen Street United Church (Clergy and Queen Streets), Kingston, at 2 p.m., with cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Glaucoma Research Society of Canada (390 Bay Street, Suite 2000, Toronto, M5H 2Y2), the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario at Kingston General Hospital or to Amnesty International would be appreciated by tbe family. Passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry, at the age of 78. Jackie, beloved wife of the late Basil "Bud." Loving mother of Bernie and Diane, Karen and Jack CUMMINGS, and Lenard and Lynda. She will be held in the hearts of her grandchildren Adam (Lis), Sabrina, Michele, Sean, Carly (Abdul), Daryl (Marnie), Holly, and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Kassidy, Brooke, Logan, Gage, Hope, Cameron, Evan, Ryan, Hafsa, and Sydney. It is with deepest sadness the family announces the passing of Clara WALTON, age 84, on December 19, 2005, she went peacefully into the arms of Almighty God.
