Her strength, determination and courage were unprecedented. In spite of her pain, her positive outlook and concern for those she loved was an example for all. Their will be a Memorial Service in honor of Reta's life on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 2: 00 p.m. in the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home. Courtesy parking south of the chapel. Reta was predeceased by her devoted husband Fred in February 1981. Her two sisters also predeceased her, Amy on October 10, 1995, and Pauline on October 30, 2002. She is survived by her sister Amy's daughter Gaye LESLIE, and her great nephews, George, James and Jason LESLIE. Reta▼ has been celebrated for her numerous achievements and integrity as an artist, and for her patience and sincerity as an exemplary and caring teacher. Reta studied art at the University of Saskatchewan Summer Art School and at the Emma Lake Artists Workshop while she was teaching school her self. She also studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts for three years. Reta COWLEY has had more than two dozen solo exhibitions of her work, and her paintings are represented in art collections across the country. She also taught art for numerous summers at the University of Saskatchewan art schools. In 1990, Reta received both a Lifetime Award of Excellence in the Arts, and also the Saskatchewan Order Of Merit. So deeply beloved mother of Valerie Godsoe JENNINGS, Peter▼ (Shelagh,▼) Jane▼ (Tony FERREIRA) and sadly predeceased Gerald Jr. (Dale,) and the devoted wife of J. Gerald GODSOE, LL.D; CBE (deceased). She was also the loving and cherished grandmother of Craig (Charles MELANSON), Eden (Jim KING), Cynthia (Eric PITT), Suzanne, Stacey (Leif HELMER), Laura, and Derek DELOST and the proud greatgrandmother of Jonas PITT and Rowan HELMER. Margaret▼ GODSOE and her family are deeply grateful to all others who cared for and supported her - especially Hyacinth POWELL, with her for 24 years. 'Marg' GODSOE will forever be loved and remembered for her generous heart, incredible strength, enthusiasm, wit and brilliant mind. Such an inspiration to ever yone she met, she graduated with highest honors from Dalhousie University at age 18, then taught Mathematics in Sydney, Nova Scotia and was later awarded an LL.D. by Dalhousie. In 1932 she married her one and only love, 'Gerry' GODSOE and soon after they moved to Toronto and raised their four children. With an intense passion for life and art, she was highly respected as a promoter, collector and philanthropist for Canadian Art. She was a founding member of the Art Gallery of Ontario Women's Committee and a Trustee and also an early catalyst and President of Toronto's Junior League. Born June 9, 1907 in Nassau, Bahamas, Maude died peacefully at her home in Toronto on Good Friday, March 25, 2005 in her 98th year. Maude loved the Islands and lived in Jamaica before immigrating to Canada in 1940. Cherished wife of the late Earle P. CLINE. Beloved sister of Eric ALBURY and his wife Thelma of Vancouver. Dearly loved aunt of Patsy and John WYNNE of Richmond Hill and their four children, Kathleen, Eva, Ann and Marie and their families. "Aunt Maudie" will be sadly missed by cousin, Iva WEST and family, her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and their families in Canada, the U.S. and the Bahamas. The fourth of eight children of Stanley and Minnie ALBURY, Maude maintained close ties with her large extended family and Friends in Nassau returning every year as long as she was able. She often provided a Canadian home base for siblings, nieces and nephews in transit or in transition in their lives. In recent years and especially in the last year, Maude has been helped by loving Friends, Joyce BURROWS, Ann BORELAND, Joyce HERD and Judy SKELTON and by caring attendants Chris BERNARDO, Delita JACKSON, Beatrice WILLIAMS and Senior Peoples' Resource in North Toronto workers. Maude took great pride in managing her own financial affairs until her death with the loving support of Philip COWPERTHWAITE and the kind help of Lyndie McPHUM of the Royal Bank. This network allowed Maude to stay in her home to the end. Her family is grateful for all the caring support. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Passed away peacefully Saturday, January 15, 2005 in her Toronto home, age 93. So deeply beloved mother of Valerie Godsoe JENNINGS, Peter▲ (Shelagh,▲) Jane▲ (Tony FERREIRA) and sadly predeceased Gerald Jr. (Dale,) and the devoted wife of J. Gerald GODSOE, LL.D; CBE (deceased). She was also the loving and cherished grandmother of Craig (Charles MELANSON), Eden (Jim KING), Cynthia (Eric PITT), Suzanne, Stacey (Leif HELMER), Laura, and Derek DELOST and the proud great-grandmother of Jonas PITT and Rowan HELMER. Margaret▲ GODSOE and her family are deeply grateful to all others who cared for and supported her - especially Hyacinth POWELL, with her for 24 years. "Marg" GODSOE will forever be loved and remembered for her generous heart, incredible strength, enthusiasm, wit and brilliant mind. Such an inspiration to everyone she met, she graduated with highest honours from Dalhousie University at age 18, then taught Mathematics in Sydney, Nova Scotia and was later awarded an LL.D. by Dalhousie. In 1932 she married her one and only love, "Gerry" GODSOE and soon after they moved to Toronto and raised their four children. With an intense passion for life and art, she was highly respected as a promoter, collector and philanthropist for Canadian Art. She was a founding member of the Art Gallery of Ontario Women's Committee and a Trustee and also an early catalyst and President of Toronto's Junior League. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18. Flowers are gratefully declined. Recently of Woodhall Park, passed away peacefully, on Thursday April 14, 2005, at Peel Memorial Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Garth. Loving mother of Cordrey and Janice and son-in-law Brian MOAKLER. Cherished Nana of Tracey-Lee, Carl, Chris and Alex. Violet will be sadly missed by family and special Friends. Guests will be received at the "Brampton Chapel" of the Scott Funeral Home, 289 Main St. N. Brampton (just south of Vodden St.) from 7-9 p.m. on Monday April 18 and from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Tuesday April 19.
