CLARKE, J. Boyd
Boyd was born in Brandon, Manitoba on January 25, 1925, the third child and only son of J.W. and Julia (COSTELY) CLARKE. He died peacefully on March 6, 2005 at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre in Guelph, Ontario.
His early years were spent in rural Manitoba towns including Miniota, Shoal Lake and Killarney.
Boyd graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1945. At the time, he was the youngest to graduate from that faculty and received the highest marks in his class. He enjoyed a stimulating and satisfying business career. His first position was Rural Electrification Engineer with the Manitoba Power Commission. He joined Federal Wire and Cable Company of Guelph, Ontario in 1948, where he rose to the position of General Sales Manager for Canada.
In 1964, with his appointment to General Manager of Continental European Operations for H.K. Porter Company of Pittsburgh, Boyd moved with his family to Paris where he had responsibility for several heavy equipment manufacturing operations throughout Europe.
On his return to Canada, Boyd joined Canadian Corporate Management Company Ltd. of Toronto and the following year was appointed President of Canadian Motorola Electronics, a division of that company. In 1969, he returned to Canadian Corporate Management as Vice President and was elected to the Board of Directors, where he had corporate responsibilities for several operating subsidiaries and participated in the overall planning and acquisition activities of the company.
In 1986, Canadian Corporate Management was acquired by Federal Industries Ltd. and the following year Boyd was appointed Chief Executive Officer of it's Industrial Group, comprised of ten companies. He held this position until his retirement.
An avid golfer, Boyd was a member of York Downs Golf and Country Club where he served on various committees and as President in He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marion (ANDERSON) and his daughter Nancy of Guelph, his son Murray and daughter-in-law Emily of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his sisters Kathleen SMITH of Winnipeg and Peggy (Jack) STEWARD/STEWART/STUART of Qualicum Beach, B.C.
Rested At The Gilbert MacIntyre and son Funeral Home, "Dublin Chapel", 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for John will take place in the Chapel on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 1: 30 p.m.

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2005 at the Aurora Resthaven Nursing Home in his 89th year. Warren, beloved husband of the late Marion (McCONKEY) MAIN. Brother▼ of the late Dorothy COSTIE, the late Irene MAVOR and of Wallace of Mississauga and brother-in-law Wilfred (Janet) McCONKEY of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Warren will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and many Friends. Warren's career extended over 30 years as a professor at the University of Toronto, including 10 years as Director of the School of Business (now the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto). He will be remembered fondly for his wisdom and wit by many academic colleagues and students. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 12: 00 p.m. in the Chapel of The Ogden Funeral Home (St. Clair Chapel), 646 St. Clair Ave. W. (west of Bathurst) with visiting one hour prior to service. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.

Peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton on Saturday, October 8, 2005 in his 81st year. Predeceased by his beloved son Allan Harvey LANCTOT (Arlene) and loving father of Gloria DEASE, Kathryn WILEY (Brian) and Anne COSTIE (Mark.) Dear friend of their mother, Frances LANCTOT, and of his wife Janine MORIN, currently residing in Montreal. Proud grandfather of Michelle (Peter), LeeAnne (Mike), Tracey (Kevin), Allan Jr., Kristie (Jason), Mark, Tara (Chris), Brian, Stephen and nine beautiful greatgrandchildren. Also sadly missed by his sister Laurette ROUSSEAU of Montreal, his nieces and nephews and his Friends at the Residences on Augusta. Harvey retired from the CUMIS Group in 1990 where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. He chose to make credit unionism a life long commitment when in 1945 he joined Windsor Credit Union in Montreal. He served as Managing Director of the Quebec Credit Union League from 1953 to 1956 and during that period organized more that 125 credit unions and caisses populaires. He devoted 34 years of his life to the CUMIS Group, since joining its forer unner, the CUNA Mutual Insurance Society in 1956. His aspirations and vision led to the for mation of the CUMIS Life Insurance Company and later the CUMIS General Insurance Company, The CUMIS Group Limited and Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company. In addition to his full time career with the CUMIS Group he demonstrated extraordinary leadership and diplomacy while serving on the boards of directors of the Canadian Co-operative Credit Society, Canadian Co-operative Association, Co-operative Trust Company of Canada and Co-operators Data Services Limited. He demonstrated a true philanthropic concern for his fellow citizens and for his community at large, having served as an active director on the boards of Big Brothers Association of Hamilton, St. Joseph's Villa of Dundas, the Hamilton and District Chamber of Commerce, St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home in Hamilton, the Hamilton and District Social Planning and Research Council, the Rotary Club of Hamilton, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation, Big Brothers of Canada, president of the United Way of Canada, president of the Hamilton & District United Appeal, president of the Catholic Youth Organization Diocese of Hamilton, chairman of the Hamilton-Wentworth District Health Council and upon his retirement from the CUMIS Group was recognized with a lifetime appointment as Director Emeritus of all the CUMIS Group of companies. At Dad's request, private cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of Queen Elizabeth Way) Burlington (905-6323333) on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at CUMIS, 151 North Service Road, Burlington. Veteran of the United States Navy and retired Sales Manager of Canadian Liquid Air. Warm brown eyes, big strong hands and a heart bound securely to his family.
