Peter William Frederick BERENDSEN died peacefully after his battle with cancer, at Parkwood Hospital, on Sunday, January 16, 2005, at the age of 71. He was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1953. Dear father of Patricia Vanderheyden (nee BERENDSEN) and Marilyn ELLIS, John and Arlene BERENDSEN, Paul BERENDSEN and Tanya SCHEERER. Loved grandfather of Michelle (Kyle CORNELIUS,) Sarah, Hannah and Joel VANDERHEYDEN and Scott and Benjamin BERENDSEN. Also remembered by Toni. Brother of Tony (Anne) BERENDSEN, Joanne (Arnold) SIROEN, John (Mien) BERENDSEN, Anne (Peter) DE BROUWER, Trudy DE VRIES, Wilma (Joe) VAN RYSWYCK and his brother-in-law Peter KLOMP. CORNELL, Alan Richard John (1918-2005)
The family sadly announces the peaceful passing of Alan Richard John CORNELL after a lengthy illness in Victoria, British Columbia on Friday, April 22, 2005. Alan was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (FERGUSON) and his brother Don. Alan is forever remembered by his children: Sandra and Jeff; son-in-law: Don; daughters-in-law: Leah and Linda; grandchildren: Michael, Lorie, Kyle, Adrienne, Calvin and Thomas; sister: Beulah; Cousin: Ron.
He served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1940 to 1947 completing his service with the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Engine Room Artificer first class. Alan served aboard the H.M.C.S. Agassiz, Trail, Iroquois, Tillsonburg, Middlesex and Lloyd George during the Battle of the Atlantic. After the war he was a carpenter, cook, and driving instructor, before becoming a stationary engineer and supervisor with Ontario Hydro until he retired in 1978 to move to Victoria. For eleven years he was a Commissionaire at the Lieutenant Governors House. But of all his achievements the most important was being a husband, a dad and a grandfather. Until we meet again, we will love you always. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Born July 17, 1914, in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Sigmund and Rosalia (KISSLING) MORAND, from Nuglar-St. Pantaleon, Switzerland. Bertie came to Canada as a war bride in 1945 and lived most of her life in Morrisburg, Ontario, where she received a special award for her volunteer contributions as a Brownie and Girl Guide leader, a member of two choirs, a teaching assistant at Saint Mary's Separate School, and general all-round friendly, helpful person. She moved to Kingston to live with her daughter in 1993, and into a retirement home in 2000. A tree-planting and celebration of her life will take place in the spring.
