With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Henry CONKIE in his 92nd year, on Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at the Rockcliffe Centre, Scarborough. Loving husband of Marion Eleanor CONKIE (née CORLETT,) devoted father of Richard Evans CONKIE (deceased 1990) and Heather▼ Marion▼ CONKIE, and beloved brother of Ron CONKIE. Charles▼ leaves a granddaughter, Alexandra CLARKE, son-in-law Michael CLARKE, as well as nieces and nephews.
Charles was born on April 21, 1914, in Ayer, Scotland, but lived most of his life in Toronto. Charles joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943, and after the war he entered the printing industry.
Although focussed on the successful packaging business he founded, family was always most important to Charles; he was never too busy to take Richard and Heather to the myriad of lessons and recitals that led to their Associate, Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto degrees.
Over the years Charles and Marion happily shared many things with their family, among them a real love of Muskoka, where they owned a series of homes; today they maintain a place on Walkers Lake. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff at Rockcliffe. There will be no service at this time.

Thelma Robina BOTTING passed away on Friday, Febr uary 18, 2005 predeceased by her loving husband Morrison (Mo) BOTTING, sister Evelyn and brother Doug. Thelma is survived by daughter, Robin Leigh (Dan CONLEY,) sons Rick (Rita) and Ron (Suzanne,) and grandchildren, Toby, Terri, Sydney and Trent. Born July 31, 1921 in Winnipeg, Thelma grew up in New Westminster, graduating in 1938 from Duke of Connaught High School. She obtained her R.N. training and certification at the Royal Jubilee (Victoria) and Royal Columbian Hospitals. Married for 52 years to Morrison, she resided in Penticton throughout the fifties and in Burnaby for over 40 years, before moving to South Surrey after Mo's passing in 1994. An active community participant, Thelma donated many hours to Hospital Auxiliary Services. As an active bridge player, Thelma and her close group of Friends maintained the same bridge club for nearly 40 years. Thelma was a supportive mother to each of her children and in her latter years a loving and caring grandmother. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Mrs. Linda THOMAES a resident of Wallaceburg passed away on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance "Sydenham Campus" in Wallaceburg, at the age of 58 years. Linda was born in Windsor and was a daughter of the late George and Verneta (SHAW) DAVYDUCK. Beloved companion of Bill KESERU of Wallaceburg. Dear mother of Dave THOMAES of Hungary and Terry THOMAES and his companion Elly CONNELL and her son Brandon of Wallaceburg. Kind sister and sister-in-law of Jill and Wayne OUELLETTE of Dover Centre, Lisa LOZON and her friend Dale RABIDEAU of Wallaceburg, Robert and Johanna DAVYDUCK of Kanata and Larry and Georgina DAVYDUCK of Wallaceburg. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The late Linda THOMAES rested at the Eric F. Robert William born in Saint Thomas, the son of the late George and Madeline (CONNELL) McMILLIN and husband of the late Eunice Stella (FOX) McMILLIN. Veteran of World War 2, serving overseas with the Elgin Regiment. He was a retired railway inspector and a life long member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Car Men. Robert passed away at Parkwood Hospital, London on Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Loving father of Susanne Edith MERRITT and her husband Gus and their children Victoria and Scott FELLOWS, Nelson MERRITT and Leigh-Anne MERRITT. Sadly missed by extended family Betty, Michelle, Roberta, Norm, Rob, Cindy, Carly and Ian. Cremation has taken place. He later served as History Consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Education. Veteran World War 2, member Royal Canadian Legion Branch 385 Retired Sergeant - Toronto Police Force At Sunnybrook Hospital on Thursday, January 20, 2005, God peacefully took Bill home. Beloved husband, companion and best friend of 51 years to Hilda (MacDUFF,) loving father to daughters Janice and her husband Fiore (FATTORE,) and Karen and her husband Wayne (ZWARYCH.) Proud and loving Bampa to Chris and Scott, and Poppa to Jessica. Devoted uncle to Bobbie and her husband Wayne (CONNELL,) Bob and Lou FLEISCHER. Bill is predeceased by his parents Bob and Lizzie, sister Betty, and brothers Robert, Tom and George. Bill was a member of Westmoreland United Church and later Annesley United Church in Markdale, Ontario where he sang in both Choirs. Bill was a member of the Beaver Bible Class and was a soloist at their annual show. He joined the 48th Highlanders Rotary Cadet Corps and at 17 enlisted in the armed forces. Bill joined the Toronto Police in 1947 and proudly served his city for 28 years. He sang the National Anthem at their Police Games and was soloist at their Remembrance Day Services at Yorkminster Baptist Church. Bill listened to children's wishes as Santa Claus at the Police Children's Christmas Party. Bill was the Drum Major of the Toronto Police Pipe Band and the Ontario Royal Canadian Pipes, Drums and Colours, and was proud to represent Canada at the Braemar Games (Scotland), Orange Bowl (Florida), Rose Bowl (California), Punch and Hula Bowls (Hawaii), Oktoberfest, and locally at the Santa Claus Parade, Warriors Day and many more. After retiring, Bill worked as Director of Security, Hudson Bay Centre and opened the first Canadian branch of California Plan Protection, and more recently he was a member of the Corps of Commissionaires, assigned to the Superior Court of Justice. Bill's love for singing never stopped - he joined the Serenata Singers in September 2003.
