WALSH, Garnet Ralph
of Markdale passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2005 after succumbing to smoke inhalation as a result of a small grass fire at his farm in Euphrasia Township. He is sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Frances (THIBAUDEAU) WALSH. Sorrow surrounds his family members Valerie BROWN of Meaford, Barb and Manfred VOSS of Dundalk, Ralph and Sandy WALSH and Bill WALSH of Markdale. Garnet is also missed dearly by his five grandchildren Carol BROWN, Stephanie VOSS, Wendy, Emily and Charlie WALSH. The suddenness of his death was felt by his many nieces and nephews both from out West and in Southern Ontario. Garnet was the first born child to William & Queenie (BOWEN) WALSH of Markdale. He is predeceased by a sister Iris MILLS and her husband Glen of St. Catharines. He leaves a younger sister, Madeline MCINNES/MCINNIS of Edmonton, Alberta to mourn his passing. Garnet enjoyed his life as a farmer mostly, occasionally taking extra jobs picking apples or working at the local ski hills. He enjoyed time spent with family and Friends. In his later years he would often be seen on Sat. nights cheering on his favorite racers at Varney racetrack. Upon retiring, he kept busy on the farm helping Ralph and Bill with various jobs. Garnet was a genuine, caring, thoughtful and hard-working character. The family takes much comfort in believing that Garnet's death was not seen as tragic, as he got his ultimate wish to leave this world with his boots on, working on his well-loved farm. Visitation was held on Tues. April 12, 2005 and the family was overwhelmed by the out-pouring of support and comfort shown by family and Friends. A fitting tribute to this well-liked and well-respected man. A private funeral was held at the May Funeral Home on Wed. April 13, 2005 with Reverend Mark WAUGH offering words of comfort. A short remembrance was read by daughter-in-law, Sandy WALSH. Afterwards family and Friends along with Reverend WAUGH shared comforting words & thoughts at an interment of his cremated remains in the bush on his farm at a pre-chosen location cherished by Garnet. The family would like to thank all who made donations to the Markdale Hospital and Diabetes Assoc., sent flowers, brought food and patiently waited so long throughout the visitation to offer condolences. Special thanks go out to Grant and Brigitte MAY for their wonderful support, to Reverend Mark WAUGH for his words and extra time, to Doreen CARGOE and Marilyn WARD for help with the lunch and to Steve RUTLEDGE, Rob CAMERON, Scott COLVILLE for their support and help in carrying out Garnet's wishes.

Catherine, always an interesting and talented person, was well appreciated and loved by all who knew her. She had the ability to pen a poem for any occasion. Catherine is survived by her son, Brian, Chester; daughters, Maureen (Albert) MARTINEZ, Denver, Colorado, Deirdre (John SKUGGEDAL), Halifax, and grand_son Jason COLVILLE, Yarmouth; sister, Isabel HAYWARD, Mount Forest, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Jack HOWARD, half-sisters, Hester, Rose, Emma Jane, Daisy, Mary, Lucy and Margaret, half-brothers, Walter and Harold, brother Stewart in infancy. Rejoicing in the home going of Lois Frances (COLWILL) STOCKER of Kanata on May 5, 2005. She believed that Jesus Christ was the only son of God, who came to earth to die on the cross, to be resurrected again, in order that, should we choose, we could become the children of God. In having chosen and followed after Him, Lois believed the Bible's assurances that she would eternally enjoy His presence with others of like faith including her parents and Reginald, her most beloved husband, who predeceased her. She was mother to Keith and Fran ROBINSON of Wallaceburg, Doug and Barbara Anne WAY of Kanata. She was predeceased by her brother and his wife. Wife of the late Donald PASSIEN of Chatham, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 with all her family by her side. Born in London, England, 84 years ago, daughter of the late Allard Clement BENN and Rose Elizabeth HEYWARD. Poppy was a past member of the Kinnette's, a member of the Alliance Auxiliary where she enjoyed selling Nevada Tickets on Fridays. Loving mother of Wendy SAMS and husband Gord of London, Bob PASSIEN and wife Patti of Chatham and Julie COLYER and husband Albert of Jackson's Point, Ontario. Dear Nana to Cari-Anne PASSIEN- GARDNER and husband Gord GARDNER of Chatham, Jennifer PASSIEN- HUDSON and husband Nick HUDSON of Malvern, England, Stephanie SAMS and husband Jeff FURLER of London, and Jeff SAMS of Hamilton. Happy to have been Great-Nana to William, Harrison, and Maddox HUDSON and Jessica FURLER. Also surviving are a sister Paula LYNN and husband Michael of London, England, special cousin Derek HAVIS of Exeter, England and several nieces and nephews in England and New Zealand.
