Loved grandmother of Karen, Michael, Connie and David and great-grandmother of Amanda, Brandon and Ryan. Sister of Doris. Elsie was born in Saint Thomas, on September 3, 1919, the daughter of the late William Henry and Eva May (FARR) AUSTIN. She has lived most of her life in this area. She worked as a clerk in her brother's flower shop, for Ruebens and was a correctional officer. Elsie enjoyed quilting, crafts, travel, bingo, casinos and horse racing. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Saturday at 2: 00 p.m. Interment in Union Cemetery. Mrs. Dorothy L. (HARPER) BERRY, formerly of Saint Thomas, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Extendicare, Port Stanley, in her 86th year. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her husband, Donald W. BERRY of Metcalfe Gardens, Saint Thomas, son, Thomas BERRY and his wife Sue of Winnipeg, and her loving daughter, Wendy SLOTA and her husband Paul of Saint Thomas. Lovingly remembered by her surviving grandchildren, Laurie HARMER and her husband Steven, Jason SLOTA, all of Saint Thomas, and Dana BERRY of Winnipeg. Also survived by her only great grand_son, Brandyn CHILTON of Saint Thomas. Predeceased by a grand_son, David BERRY.
Born in Watford, Ontario, November 13, 1919, daughter of the late George and Annie (BRUSH) HARPER. At Mrs. BERRY's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Alister CHILTON is overcome grieving the loss of his loving, caring wife and companion of 56 years. Always cheerful and compassionate, she is dearly missed by her daughter Eileen THOMAS and sons William and John, and her grandchildren Alice; Laura, Jason and Amanda; and David, Connor and Kathleen. Survived by sister Mary Ann CARTER and brothers Clifford and Edmund. Predeceased by brothers William, Donald, Frederick, and Gordon. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her love of family, joy in helping others, and her calligraphy skills. She gave to her loved ones a family tree that chronicles the QUIN family's arrival to Canada from Ireland in 1841. Born December 28th, 1929, Derby, England. Resided in Georgetown for 35 years until recently this year when he moved to Point Edward to be closer to his family. It is with great sorrow, sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Victor GAMES on Monday, October 24th, 2005 at the Bluewater Health, Palliative Care, Sarnia with all his family at his side. Victor was the beloved husband of the late Jean GAMES (October 2004) for 54 wonderful years. He was a caring loving father 'Pop' of Diana and her husband John KRITCH. Proud grandfather of Lisa and her husband Toby BOUCHER and Dwayne KRITCH and his fiancée Maricris PANGILINAN. Great-grandfather of Koral and Ethan BOUCHER. Brother of Mavis and her husband Cyril SMITH of South Africa, the late Gerald (2002) and his wife Yvonne of England, and Harold and his wife Mavis of England. He will be greatly missed by his Friends in Georgetown, those newly made Friends in Sarnia and his fraternal brothers of the Masonic Lodges. Victor was Grand Superintendent, Wellington District No. 4 (2000-2001), a member and Past Master of Friendship Lodge, a member and Past Principal of Halton Chapter Royal Arch Mason, a member of Credit Lodge, a member of St. Clair Chapter and a member of the 18th Century Degree Team. Our world has gone a little quieter today as one of the great story tellers has gone on to share his stories with the others on the other side of the rainbow. Valerie WALLS passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Boulder, Colorado at the age of 58. Survived by her companion and best friend Armando GINGRAS; her beloved daughters, Betsy JOHNSON (Lee) of Fulton, Kentucky, Sarah CHIMILESKI (Brian) of Golden, Colorado and Meaghan WALLS of Breckenridge, Colorado sisters Diana FERGUSON (Alan) of Haliburton, Jennifer BEDWELL (Brian) of Ottawa and brother Edward BERWICK (Karen) of Milton. Predeceased by her parents. Valerie lived a full and active life in Toronto, Ottawa, Lagos Nigeria, New York City and, since 1989, Boulder Colorado. While in Boulder she co-founded the Colorado Wheelchair Tennis Association and was recently honoured with the Colorado Wheelchair Tennis Association Lifetime Achievement Award. She will be sadly missed by her family and a multitude of Friends who will always be grateful for her life. Laurence hailed from Glasgow, Scotland and emigrated to Canada in his twenties. He had a successful career as an optician, while raising his beloved children Chris, 23 and Julia, 12, with is former wife Lynn. His last employer was Cummins Optical in Masonville Place, where he earned the respect of customers and staff alike. He spent the last seven years enjoying life as part of a second family with his partner Kelly. Laurence was the epitome of a family. His many interests included reading and collecting books (his collection of hard cover books number 500, including many first editions). He loved classical music, and was an accomplished pianist. He was a great scrabble and crossword aficionado, and loved to work with wood.
He is survived by Chris and Julia, James and Mavis, Stephen, Melissa, Jacob and Hannah FERGUSON, many members of his deceased mother Hannah's family and the FERGUSON family and also Kelly and Emily, Valerie and Lionel HURST, and Tracy and Robby LONG. Suddenly as a result of a motor vehicle accident, at Bluewater Health, Petrolia Site on Sunday, April 3rd, 2005. Jalen Ryan "Smiley" DAY of Watford in his 12th year. Jalen, an inspiring "National Hockey Leaguer" played for the Watford Wolves in the Pee-Wee A division and can be best described as inspirational, tough, a joker, a fighter, a believer, faithful, charming and a violinist. He was truly larger than life. Jalen will always be loved dearly by his parents Dave and Rhonda DAY of Watford, his big brother Jordan and little sister Jessalyn both at home. Peacefully, with his loving family by his side, June 28, 2005, Steve LAUR lost his courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. Loving husband of 44 years to Betty Anne (THORNTON) LAUR. Devoted father of Michael and Debbie LAUR and Stephanie and Darcy GRANT. Cherished psychotic grandfather of Lindsay, Emily, Alyssa and Cassie. Survived by his mother Grace LAUR, his sister Jennifer and husband Ed, his brothers Ross and wife Linda, Dave and wife Marg, and Dale and wife Diane, and by his mother-in-law Marguerite THORNTON. STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, John Patrick Connell (September 11th, 1932-June 17th, T'was time to lay your burden down and free your noble spirit to soar with the birds once more. Our dearly beloved John passed away on Friday, June 17th. John was a remarkable man who battled his extremely rare cancer for two years with his quiet grace and dignity. John accomplished many dreams in his life, and lived his years to the fullest. He was a gentle passionate man who embraced challenges in all aspects of his life and found joi de vivre in them all. John received his P.Eng. and M.B.A. from the University of Toronto and his M.P.A. from York, and followed this by a career in the field he enjoyed so much. John was blessed with his wonderful parents Madge and Jack (predeceased), with his wife Jeanne with whom he shared his dreams, was father to beloved children Kelly and husband Alf IVANY, and to Sean, and father for Russ COOPER and his partner Kim, and Robert COOPER and his wife Vicki, and John-Dad to Laura and Connie. To add to John's joy were his delightful grandchildren Amanda, Michael, Lisa, Taylor, Megan and Bobby. To all those who knew John, family and Friends, he will always be remembered as the man he was: one of warmth, caring, eclectic, erudite, witty and widespread knowledge.
