Donald Charles HENDERSON a resident of Wallaceburg and R.R.#7 Dresden, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance "Sydenham Campus", in Wallaceburg, at the age of 50 years. He was born in Chatham and is the son of William D. HENDERSON and the late Isobel (CHAPMAN) HENDERSON. Don was a machinist by trade and loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors. Loving father of Will HENDERSON and his companion Janice LEYSTRA of Wallaceburg. Kind brother and brother-in-law of Bill and Felicia HENDERSON of Wallaceburg. Dear uncle of Colette and her husband Wael HAMDAN of Leamington and Shona HENDERSON of Wallaceburg. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, family and Friends. The late Donald C. HENDERSON rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street in Wallaceburg until Friday, January 28, 2005 when the funeral service was held in the chapel of the funeral home, at 2 p.m. with Reverend David HEATH, officiating. HOLMES, Kenneth Paul
Kenneth Paul HOLMES (K. Paul) B.A., M.Ed. on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, passed away as a result of a vehicular mishap in Florida. Paul was raised in Saint Thomas, Ontario, the son of L.T. and Gladys HOLMES and educated: London Normal School; Western University and Buffalo University. He was a teacher for 37 years with both the Niagara South Board of Education and Brock University. He is survived by his wife Margaret (TROSTENKO) of 44 years; a son, Mark (Paula); beloved granddaughter Robyne Elizabeth and grand_son James Paul; a sister Marion CHAPMAN of Ottawa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and three brothers-in-law and their wives.
He was a Forester member, sang with the Gentlemen Songsters, and a Choir member of Stamford United Church. He was an active volunteer with Boy Scouts of Canada and a former Stamford Centre Volunteer Fireman. We wish to thank Dr. Chan, Dr. Philip McGarry and the wonderful nursing staff of Greater Niagara General Hospital Step Down unit; longtime Friends Bill and Barbara ROSS, Cheryl and Wayne SCOTT and Reg and Cathy FERLAND for their support during this difficult time. Robert served in the Navy during World War 2 and was a former member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. My life has been full of many special journeys and some not so special, but overall, I have been very blessed to have family and good Friends around me. THOMAS, Dorothy (1938-2005)
While we all mourn the loss of Dorothy, we wish to thank her for the tremendous gifts she left behind. Born and raised in Toronto, Dorothy attended the University of Toronto where she began her career as a journalist and civic activist. She wrote for the Toronto Star, directed public programming at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and later represented the east end of the old city of Toronto as alderman for nine years. In that time, she was part of the reform movement who worked to protect local neighbourhoods, advance mixed communities of affordable housing, promote the arts and she could always be counted on to have a strongly held opinion on the issue of the day. She later served on the Rent Review Tribunal, the Social Assistance Review Board, Metro Licensing Commission and the Toronto Licensing Tribunal
always as an advocate for the underdog. On retirement, Dorothy continued to pursue her passions reading, jazz, gardening, cooking, film, volunteering and building strong local communities. Dorothy will be missed by her son Nye THOMAS and his wife, Karen MANN and her brand-new granddaughter, Mei Leigh, as well as her many Friends and admirers. Dorothy's family and Friends wish to thank the staff of Princess Margaret Hospital and the Grace Hospice for their unfailing support through difficult times the Canadian system works! A celebration of Dorothy's wonderful life will soon be announced.

On Tuesday, Toronto lost "Ninjalicious" to cancer at the age of 31. His real name was Jeff CHAPMAN, and since 1996 he had published Infiltration, "the zine about going places you're not supposed to go." The self-published magazine was about the behind-the-scenes places most Torontonians never get to see. Ninjalicious, the name he wrote and published under, is legendary in the zine world and in Urban Exploration circles.
When I first moved to Toronto five years ago, the drudgery of a 9-to-5 job was not the adventure I was expecting. One dull night, I picked up Infiltration at Suspect Video and paged through it. That was the moment I realized other people thought about the city the same way I did: as a mysterious place waiting to be explored.
His first issue chronicled secret forays he made around off-limits areas of the Royal York Hotel, where he recently spent his honeymoon. Subsequent issues detailed places such as Union Station, City Hall, a drain under St. Clair Avenue and St. Michael's Hospital, where he wandered the halls during his illnesses. These adventures are compiled at http: //www.infiltration.org. Just before his death, he was able to finish his book Access All Areas: A User's Guide of the Art of Urban Exploration.
Because of Jeff, people around the globe know about Toronto's nooks and crannies. Ninjalicious mythologized Toronto like no one ever has. Now I walk around the city wondering if Ninjalicious has slid through some forgotten tunnel under my feet.

Family mourns devoted father
Kenrick CHAPMAN stabbed to death '
He died with love in his heart'

Kenrick CHAPMAN loved his wife, his five children and his five stepchildren.
He tried to teach the children to make good choices, to stay out of trouble and make something of themselves.
The 60-year-old, who came to Canada as a young man from Guyana, was quiet and peaceful.
His stepson, Jamal CLARKE, remembers much of the guidance and advice CHAPMAN gave him.
"A man without principles is no man. You must have class and you must have principles," CLARKE said his stepfather would tell him.
CHAPMAN, a retired Ontario Hydro employee, was fatally stabbed on May 5 in his home near Jane St. and Finch Ave. W. at about 2: 20 p.m. A family friend who was staying at the home has been charged with second-degree murder.
CHAPMAN was buried on Saturday. "He was like a father to me," CLARKE said in an interview before the funeral. "He would teach me, guide me. Most of my thoughts and beliefs today are because of him."
CLARKE, 20, is a York University student and advocate against violence. He is working on several projects in the Jane-Finch community in an effort to help youth realize their potential.
"Ken made an impression on me," CLARKE said. "When I wasn't doing well in school, he supported me and encouraged me to work hard."
But CLARKE said he most appreciated CHAPMAN's love for his mother Janis. "He's always there for my mom. His priority was always my mom and the children," CLARKE said. "He was there for every event."
When CLARKE graduated from high school, CHAPMAN was there, dressed in a nice suit and cowboy boots "with his big camera snapping away."
The man charged in CHAPMAN's death was a close friend of the family.
The day of CHAPMAN's death, CLARKE said he left the house in the late morning, rushing to an appointment. He told CHAPMAN he would see him soon.
A few hours later, a neighbour called CLARKE and told him there were police and paramedics at his house. He rushed home and saw a trail of blood out the front door to the street. His grandmother, who lives with the family, gave him the news.
"I couldn't get mad or angry or sad. I was in shock," CLARKE said. "Why did this happen?"
And, he said: "I was upset that my grandmother was there. She didn't need to see that.
"Death is okay," he said. "An untimely death is not.... But I know Ken was at peace. And he died with love in his heart."
Lawrence GEORGE, 60, is charged with second-degree murder.

Passed away peacefully at the Sunnybrook and Women's Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Dearly missed by her sister Vera LITTLE of Owen Sound. Passed away on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005, at Toronto Grace Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer, borne with dignity, courage and a sweetness of spirit that amazed his family, doctors, and Friends alike. He was an inspiration to all. Bill was predeceased in 1991 by his first wife Barbara▲ A.▲ PARKER. He leaves behind two daughters, Deborah McCOMBE (late John McCOMBE,) Marilyn▲ (Marnie▲) REDMOND and her partner Jeff CHAPMAN. Bill▲ leaves his much loved wife and best friend of the past 12 years, Norma (TASH/ McFADDEN) and her children Doug and Nancy McFADDEN of Greenwich, Connecticut, U.S.A., David and Deborah McFADDEN of Bettendorf, Iowa, Wayne and Nancy McFADDEN of Etobicoke and Marilyn and Rick STERN of Etobicoke,▲ plus 12 grandchildren: William and Robert McCOMBE, Lisa, Daniel and Laura STERN, Michael, Erin, D'arci, William, Liz, Alison and Andrew McFADDEN. He loved team sports and played football and basketball while at High School and U of T, Ajax campus. He joined St. George's Golf and Country Club in 1947 as a golfing member and was a founding and active member of the club's curling section. Bill spent over 50 years in the printing business in sales and management with Bowne of Canada, Rous and Mann and the Pearce family business, The Northern Miner. Suddenly in North Vancouver, British Columbia while visiting family on Sunday, October 2, 2005, beloved husband of Vera WALTERS of Stratford, Ontario, his wife of 61 years. Father of Christine and Charles STEDMAN of Calgary, Marilyn and the late Shaun BROWN of Vancouver, James CATANIA and his wife Judi RICHARDSON of North Vancouver and Thomas CATANIA of Toronto. Grandfather of Alexandra BREIDFJORD and Peter STEDMAN, Liam, Ryan, Kristen and Maureen BROWN and Mitchell CATANIA; great-grandfather of George and Henry BROWN and Gabriel BREIDFJORD. He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter Sarah BROWN. Peter was the youngest of five sons of the late Sam and Mary CATANIA of Toronto. He is survived by his brother Anthony CATANIA and his wife Doris of Newmarket, Ontario and by brothers- and sisters-in-law Ruth CATANIA of Beeton, Ontario, George and Rita WALTERS of Uxbridge, Ontario and June and Norman JACKSON of Toronto. He was predeceased by his brothers- and sisters-in-law Michael and Frances CATANIA, William and Hilda CATANIA, Leo CATANIA and Angeline CATANIA, and by Clarence WALTERS and Louise and Cliff CHAPMAN. Peter▲ served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2 from 1942 to 1946. He began his classroom teaching career in Toronto in 1948, became physical education consultant to the Stratford Board of Education in 1955 and concluded his teaching career in the classroom in 1983. Peter was a past President of the Rotary Club of Stratford and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as Attendance Officer for over 25 years and was proud of his 29 years of perfect attendance. For the 1999 International Year of the Senior, Peter was chosen Stratford's Senior of the Year. He was a member of Saint John's United Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Peter was a wonderful, caring person who will be missed by many. Friends may call at the W.G.
