Arthur Edgar OSTRANDER, a resident of Maple Manor Nursing Home, Tillsonburg, passed away at the Nursing Home on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the age of 98 years. Born in Brantford, Ontario, he was a son of the late George and Emmeline (GILLIS) OSTRANDER. Beloved husband of the late Gladys Marie (KETCHABAW) OSTRANDER (1983.) Loving father of James OSTRANDER and wife Beatrice of Dundas and Mary Ellen ENGLISH and husband Stan of Woodstock. He will be sadly missed by his 6 grandchildren as well as 9 great-granchildren. BAMFORD, Roy
At the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, with his loved family by his side, Roy BAMFORD of Tillsonburg in his 82nd year, formerly of Dereham Centre. Born in Culloden, June 20, 1923, son of the late Joe BAMFORD and the late former Maude BURTON (both emigrated from England). Roy was always a gentleman who originally farmed at Dereham Centre, then was a dedicated employee at the Hawkin's Feed Co., Tillsonburg, and later the Central Supply at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (for over 20 years). Roy was a Life Member of the King Hiram Lodge #78 Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, Royal Arch Masons Chapter #255, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #153 Tillsonburg. Roy answered the call to serve his country during World War 2 seeing active duty overseas throughout the war throughout the European Theatre (France, Belgium, Holland and then Germany) with the Lake Superior Regiment. Roy was an adherent to the First Baptist Church Tillsonburg.
Beloved husband and best friend for over 55 years to Margaret (MacLENNAN) BAMFORD. Much loved father and father-in-law of Coral (and her husband Wayne CADMAN) of Courtland. Proud "Poppa" of Craig CADMAN of Tillsonburg and Courtney CADMAN and her husband Greg MITCHELL of Courtland. Survived by a sister Phyllis HELSDON of Courtland and late James (1979) and a sister-in-law Cora BAMFORD of Tillsonburg and late Joe (2003) and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In keeping with Roy's wishes, cremation has taken place. HARRIS of Saint Thomas, and mother of the late Ray T. HARRIS of Simcoe. Edith was predeceased by her three brothers and her sister. Born in Bayham Township, Elgin County, on December 6th, 1913, she was the daughter of the late James BUTCHER and Hannah (PUTMAN) BUTCHER. She had lived in St. Thomas since 1959. At Edith's request, there was no funeral home visitation or funeral service. After cremation, interment was made in Elmdale Memorial Park. After a lengthy illness at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, Stanley 'Stan' Edward WOOD of Tillsonburg, formerly of Toronto, passed away in his 80th year. Stan was the devoted and loving husband to his wife and best friend of 55 years Elizabeth 'Betty' WOOD. Dear father of Patricia WOOD of Oakville;▼ Debbie▼ (Robert▼) WOOD of Toronto. Cherished and much loved 'Grampa' to Taylor, Genna, Devon WOOD of Toronto, Lauren KENNEDY of Ottawa, and Colin KENNEDY of London. Stanley was principal Oboe and English Horn player for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for over 35 years; a founding member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He played for the National Ballet of Canada, the Canadian Opera Company, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Stan travelled extensively around the world with the Symphony Orchestras' for his career, and after retirement enjoyed playing with local groups in the Tillsonburg area. He was an avid amateur painter who also enjoyed crossword puzzles, and truly loved his boat the 'Seawood'. BUTCHERD, Stanley H. (April 14, 1924-April 26, 2005)
Passed away suddenly at Welland General Hospital at the age of 81. Stan leaves behind his loving wife, best friend and life-long travel companion, Dorothy (née DEARING,) many close Friends and colleagues.
After serving as a Flying Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Stan graduated from the University of Toronto School of Architecture in 1950. A Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and past president of the Ontario Association of Architects (1969), Stan practised architecture for over 54 years - an achievement that was recognized by the Ontario Association of Architects in 2004. Stan's career began in Toronto in the offices of noted architect John LANGE, before forming a private practice with Bob CALVERT. In 1957, he moved to Port Colborne to establish his own company. He was a founding president of the Niagara Chapter of the Ontario Association of Architects, founding member of the Port Colborne L.A.C.A.C., and was responsible for the design of many civic buildings throughout the Niagara region.
Throughout his life, Stan was an inspiration and mentor to many younger architects. Nowhere was this more evident than when he formed a partnership toward the end of his career with Robert MacKENZIE. Their firm subsequently joined Quartek, a multi- discipline design and engineering company, where Stan continued to practise until finally being allowed to retire at age 80.
With Dorothy, he shared a love of travel, music, and art that endeared them to Friends of all ages. In the glint of his eyes, one discovered his sense of humour and quiet intelligence. His profound commitment to citizenry led Stan to become a President of the Port Colborne Lion's Club, a member of the Police/ Citizen's Advisory Committee, and an active member of the community's First Lutheran Church.
Predeceased by his parents, Nellie and Harry (of Eastbourne, England), he will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorothy, and their Godchildren, Don RHYNAS (Jane MacDONALD) of London, Ann SMALE of Kitchener (Wayne MOORE), Jane SMALE (Anthony VANLEEUWEN), and Peter SMALE (Nancy BENITZ) of Toronto.
Friends will be received at the Port Colborne Chapel of the Davidson Funeral Homes 135 Clarence St. on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30 at 2: 00 pm at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 688 Elm Street, Port Colborne, followed by burial at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery and a reception. Kay MISNER, a resident of Sault Ste. Marie and formerly of Tehkummah Township, died at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, Memorial Site on Friday, December 30, 2004 at the age of 84 years.
She was born in England, daughter of the late Frank and Edith (LOVEJOY) PRICE. Kay was a member of Saint John's Anglican Church in South Baymouth and had a number of other interests. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Air Force, the Senior's Triangle Club in Tehkummah, was an avid gardener and also enjoyed knitting. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband Leslie Charles MISNER in 1999. Loving and loved mother of Sharran BUTLAND and husband Stephen, David MISNER and wife Sandy, Mary-Ann McCAULEY and husband Gary, Susan CORMIER and husband Roger, Colin MISNER and Kathleen HILL and husband Terry all of Sault Ste.
