Robert Ernest of Saint Thomas, on Monday, April 4, 2005, at his home, quietly in his sleep in his 60th year. Beloved husband of Wendy (SANDERS) BLATCHFORD and the late Janet (BAILEY) BLATCHFORD and dearly loved father of Amber. Robert is also lovingly remembered by his brother and sisters, his brothers and sisters-in-law by his mother-in-law Audrey and by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth (JACKSON) and Herman BLATCHFORD.
Robert was in the Royal Canadian Regiment, 2nd Battalion serving in Germany and Africa in 1965. He opened the first Harvey's Restaurant in London, had been employed as a Private Investigator and a security guard and worked for the Ombudsman's office in Toronto. Robert also worked as a Registered Nursing Assistant at the Toronto East General Hospital, the Saint Thomas Psychiatric Hospital and the Regional Mental Health Unit, London. He was a member of St. Hilda's-St. Luke's Anglican Church and had participated in the War of 1812 Royal Scotts re-enactments. A Memorial Service will be at 2: 00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9th, 2005 at the St. Hilda's-St. Luke's Anglican Church, 185 Elm Street, Saint Thomas. There will be a reception following the service. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances may be made to the Diabetes Association through Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas.

A kind and loving woman, she endured a lengthy struggle with chronic illness with courage and determination, always maintaining her dignity and hope. She lived her entire life with her strong faith, love of life and unselfish devotion to her family whom she loved unconditionally. The last of the ADAM/ADAMS twins and long time employee of Hobart Canada - Kitchen-Aid Division passed away at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre on June 30, 2005, in her 73rd year, after a valiant and painful struggle. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Thomas ADAM/ADAMS and the late Effie Jean BROWN. She was predeceased by her loving twin, Florence GALE, and former husband John Edward (Jack) CALLEN. She is survived by her husband John, and older sister Jean KIRBY. Evelyn was the mother of sons Guy and John CALLEN and daughter Lynn AVIDAN (Ron) as well as stepmother to Brenda BRUGOS, Karen WOOD and Sherri BLATT (Brian). She was a loving "Nanny" to Jessica, Tyler, T.J., Kyla Rose, Nicole, Jake, Bayley, Seth and a "Special Nanny" to Danielle and Julia GALE. Left behind to mourn her passing are many relatives and Friends. Visitation at R.S. Dusan POKORNY, a much-loved Professor at the University of Toronto, died July 11, 2005 after a long debilitating illness. In the course of almost 30 years at both the St. George and Erindale campuses he influenced and shaped the lives of countless students and colleagues. His rigorous intellect challenged conventional wisdom, ranging from critiques of Marxian thought to Hegel, Habermas and others. Among his many publications is the two volume opus Efficiency and Justice in the Industrial World: The Failure of the Soviet Experiment and The Uneasy Success of Postwar Europe. He thrived on intellectual discourse, in the classroom and out, with colleagues, many students who went on to become colleagues, and family.
He brought his family to Canada after the Soviet-led occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968. While in Czechoslovakia he served in the diplomatic service in India and elsewhere and was one of the key behind-the-scenes figures in the liberalization process of Prague Spring in 1968, working closely with the Soviet-deposed Alexander DUBCEK.
He had a profound belief in the potential for improvement, whether that be in putting a "human face" on socialism or in daily interactions. He was a kind, gentle, unassuming man, adoring his wife of 40 years, the prominent Slovak writer Jaroslava BLAZKOVA. She, his stepsons Andrew and Mark STANCEK, and all who met him have lost a true giant of a man.

Johannes is survived by three sisters.
