Alice
Mable
BURTCH
(SHEARS)
Otherwise known as G.G.G. (Great Grandma Gwen) to Natasia, Jasper and
Zachery, died peacefully and in excellent care on December 31, 2003
at the Mindemoya Manitoulin Island hospital in her 89th year.
She was born on January 7, 1914 in Lamont, Alberta. Predeceased by
her husband Ted on April 17, 1995. Gwen is survived by her adopted
family Jack
VARIEUR and Joyce
VARIEUR
(REBACK) and sons Stephen (wife
Danusia GZIK) and Michael (wife
Brenda
LIDDLE.)
Also survived by
nieces and nephews in western Canada and U.S.A., and by all her
loving Friends and acquaintances. Although residing in Sudbury for
many years, Gwen and Ted dearly loved their times spent at Elliot
Lake, Manitoulin Island and Turtle Creek Lodge. Gwen was a lover of
nature, especially of dogs and birds, having had many as pets. She
acquired the "summertime" name "Petunia Pruner" while at Turtle
Creek. She always looked forward to Hildy's lemon loaf. She
exchanged many books with Gord
QUINN.
She enjoyed Sunday dinners
with Del, Dan, Michael and Judy. She appreciated the on-going
loyalty from Pauline and Rheal, the many years of excellent care from
Dr. BOUFFARD and Kay found a very special place in Gwen's heart. She
very proudly accepted the role of Honourary Great-Grandma. She will
hear the loons calling...she will smell the flowers blooming...and she will be dearly missed.
