William Matthew MATHESON
In loving memory of William Matthew MATHESON, February 3, 1924 - August 26, 2004, a resident of Silver Water, died at the Mindemoya Hospital on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the age of 80 years.
He was born at Elizabeth Bay, son of the late Norman and Bertha (MORDEN) MATHESON. Matt had worked for the Department of Transportation, as a mechanic, from 1947 until his retirement in 1980. He was very active in his community, having been founding Fire Chief of the Robinson Fire Department, had served on many Boards of the local Service Board for Robinson Township, and had been a very active member of the Snowdusters, grooming countless miles of trails. Matt had a variety of interests other than his community involvement. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, flying, travelling and loved horses and music. He also enjoyed visiting with people. He will be sadly missed by his loving and loved family and numerous Friends. Beloved husband of Ollie (TENNISWOOD) MATHESON. Matt and Ollie would have celebrated 59 years of marriage next month. Precious Dad to Lyla (Peter) MUNT of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Norman (friend Linda) and Don (Virginia) of Silver Water. Dear Grandfather of Stephen, Judy, Robert and Katerina, Greg and Jessica. Great-grandfather of David, Ashley, Kathryn, John, Brittany and Logan. Dear brother of Vera FALLS, Anne HOPKINS, Audrey HARPER and Rhea WATT. Predeceased by brother Charles. Brother in law of Myrtle MATHESON, Pat (Ken) RICKARD, Hazel (Henry) REUBLE, Margaret (Ross) STRAIN and Don (Venus) TENNISWOOD. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted in the Wm. G Turner Chapel on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 11 am with Pastor Eriwn THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON officiating. Interment in Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Water.

Gordon Norman MATHESON
In loving memory of Gordon Norman MATHESON, June 29, 1911 - November 17, 2004.
Gordon MATHESON, a resident of Mill Site Apartments and Manitoulin
Lodge, died at the Lodge on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the age of
93 years. He was born in Burpee Township, son of the late Angus and
Margaret Dora (Keown) MATHESON. In 1940 he married Mary Allan. Gordon
had farmed all his life, on Barrie Island and in 1966, moved to Ice Lake
where he farmed until his retirement. He was a member of the United
Church, and over the years was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association
and many other farm organizations. On his mixed farm, Gordon raised
horses, and one of his great pleasures was working with and looking
after them. He also enjoyed visiting with family and Friends. He will be
truly missed by family and Friends, but many memories will be cherished.
Dearly loved husband of Mary, loving and loved father of Nancy and
husband Archie Panton and Mary Lou and husband Norman Harper all of Gore
Bay. Proud grandfather of Richard and his wife Shiela Panton, Deborah
and husband Ron Brown, Stephen Harper, Luanne and husband Rolly Gervais
and Krista Harper and great grandchildren Sabrina and R.J. Panton and
Joshua and Kayla Brown. Dear brother of Frances Mervyn of Sudbury.
Predeceased by sister Gladys Wheeler and brothers Joe, Earold and
Reginald. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home after 7 pm on Friday. The
funeral service was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Saturday,
November 20, 2004 at 11. Interment in Gordon Cemetery. In remembrance,
donations to the Lyons Memorial United Church, the CNIB or the charity

Clifford Alexander FIELDING
Clifford Alexander FIELDING, D.Sc., D.Cn.L, aged 89, on October 18, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital.
Beloved husband of Lily FIELDING (née KIVI) of Sudbury for 68 years. Predeceased by
his loving daughter Brenda Elaine WALLACE in 1997 and his beloved son Malcolm James FIELDING in 2000. Predeceased by his parents George PARKER FIELDING and Agnes (CAESAR) FIELDING. Predeceased by his sister Amy MATSON (Frank) and brothers Stanley, Frank (Florence,) George (Helen,) Sydney (Gwen,) Garnet (Margeret) and Cecil. Loving grandfather of Norinne PERDUE (Gerard), Murray FIELDING, Craig FIELDING (Katriina,) Jeffrey WALLACE, Kristen WALLACE and Gordon WALLACE. Loving great-grandfather of Jason, Cameron and Angela Perdue. Sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Shirley FIELDING and son-in-law James WALLACE. Survived by his brother Carman FIELDING Sr. (pre-deceased by Gerda,) sister-in-law Elvi FIELDING and many nieces and nephews.
Cliff will be remembered for his love of family, a man true to his word, a proud man and a man who treated all equally and with respect. Cliff had a passion for life and community. He enjoyed boxing in his youth and was later inducted, together with his brother Carman, into the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame. Cliff was an avid outdoorsman, a bush plane pilot with a love of aviation and a conservationist. Cliff FIELDING was born August 25, 1915 at the family farm in Waters Township (renamed FIELDING Memorial Park in Lively) Ontario. From humble beginnings on the family farm and following graduation from Copper Cliff Public School, he left school to provide for his family. He joined Inco in 1933 as a car and locomotive repairman. In 1935 Cliff started his own transportation company under the name FIELDING and son to provide contract services to haul ore and gravel for the mining companies within the Sudbury District. This was the start of his entrepreneurial efforts and business interests. In 1950, Cliff had expanded his fleet to 40 trucks and a staff of 50. Today, the original business, now operating under the name Alexander Centre Industries Limited, includes Waters Holding Corporation and its operating companies Wavy Industries Ltd. and Fisher Construction Limited, both of Sudbury, and Fisher Harbour on Great LaCloche Island. Cliff was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Waters Holding Corporation and active in the business on a daily basis. Cliff served on corporate, community and business Boards of Directors including the Board of Canadian Pacific Limited in 1970-71 and 1984-1986.
Mr. FIELDING received a Doctor of Science from Laurentian University and a Doctorate of Canon Law from Thornloe University in 1982. He was an active Honourary Patron of the Boy Scouts of Canada. In 1971, the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce named him one of Sudbury’s outstanding citizens. Cliff supported many community and charitable organizations including: Governor of the Sudbury Memorial Hospital, a representative of Thornloe College on the Board of Governors of Laurentian University, and a member of Saint John the Divine Anglican Church in Copper Cliff. He was a benefactor to the Finlandia-Koti (Sudbury Finnish Rest Home Society Inc.) In 2002, Cliff and Lily established a charitable foundation to relieve poverty, advance education, support religious institutions and benefit the community. Rested at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Funeral Service was held in the Church of the Epiphany, 85 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday, October 22nd, 2004 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery, Sudbury. (Friends called from 4: 00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, no visitation Friday.)

Peacefully at the Golden Dawn Nursing Home, Lion's Head, on Wednesday, December 29th, 2004. Art McBRIDE, of Wiarton, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Irene (DUGGAN) McBRIDE. Dear father of Phillip and his wife, Joyce REID, of Wiarton. Special grandfather of Phyllis (Mike) KELLY, of Shallow Lake, Allan (Tracy) REID, of Wiarton and great-grandfather of Miranda, Natalie, Andrew, and Jessica. Predeceased by one sister, Annie MATTHEWS and three brothers, George, Danniel and Duncan. The family will receive Friends at the George Funeral Home, 430 Mary Street, Wiarton, on Thursday, from 7: 00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted from the Chapel, on Friday, December 31st, 2004 at 11: 00 a.m. with Father Steve LACROIX officiating. Will be greatly missed by sixteen grandchildren, special great grandmother of three. Predeceased by parents Phil and Jessie COULTIS. Remembered by sisters Lureen (husband Arden predeceased) BAILEY of Sudbury, Georgina and husband Jim MacKENZIE of Little Current and brothers Leland) wife Gladys COULTIS of Copper Cliff, George (predeceased) wife Nancy COULTIS of Wahnapitae.
