Elsie Dorothea
GIBBS
November 20, 1909 - January 28, 2003
Elsie GIBBS, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge since 1996, died at
the Lodge on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the age of 93 years.
She was born in Gore Bay, daughter of the late John and Minnie
(TOMLINSON)
GIBBS.
Elsie had worked as a bookkeeper for James
PURVIS
and son for about 20 years. She was very active in the Lyons
Memorial United Church, having acted as treasurer for 38 years.
Elsie's home was always considered home for her sisters and brothers
and their families. She kept her home as long as she could, until
she had to move to the Lodge. She truly loved her family, and
enjoyed writing to the ones who were at a distance, and visiting and
going out with the ones who were close.
Elsie was predeceased by two sisters Olive
GIBBS and Florence
BAILEY,
and brothers Clifford, Harvey, Lyman and Arthur. She is survived by
numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand
nieces and nephews.
Friends may called the Culgin Funeral Home after 7: 00 pm on Friday.
The funeral service was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on
Saturday,
February 1, 2003 at 1: 30 pm with Pastor Maxine

Ruby WILLSON, a resident of Ice Lake, died at the Mindemoya Hospital
on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the age of 65 years. She was born in
Kagawong, daughter of the late Nelson and Lillian
(TRUDEAU)
PIERCE.
Ruby was an "Adventuress" and enjoyed life to its fullest. She had
worked as a hostess at Harbour Island as well as being a navigator on
sail boats, and had sailed many places, including the open seas. She
enjoyed many things, such as needlework, baking, reading and
especially loved to entertain and host people. Her favourite place
was Harbour Island. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will
be sadly missed, but many happy memories will be cherished.

Manitoulin Lodge on Monday, August 18, 2003 at the age of 70 years.
She was born at Long Bay, daughter of the late Richard and Josephine

FOSTER.
Vivian was very active and well known in the
community, as a member of the United Church, United Church Women, Cancer Society,
volunteered at the Lodge, and enjoyed curling, baking, cooking,
lottery and scratch tickets, cribbage, feeding and watching birds and
deer and her flower garden. She will be remembered for her love of
people, visiting Friends and family, and in particular as a professional Nana.
Vivian was predeceased by her beloved husband Reginald. Loving and

Jennie SPRY, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge for the past 5 years, and formerly of Mindemoya,
passed away at the Lodge on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at the age of 91 years.
She was born at Manitowaning, daughter of the late Thomas and Letitia
PHILLIPS.
Jennie had a variety of interests, which included gardening, cooking and quilting.
Her greatest joy and love was her family. A wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother,
sister and friend, she will be remembered fondly by all her family and all who knew her.
