SAWATZKY, Jack -- Suddenly and peacefully at Centenary Health Centre on Wednesday, November 13, 2002. Jack, in his 80th year, beloved husband of Irene. Loving father of Cheryl and her husband John BROWN, Jack and his wife Carmelita, and Janice SOMERVILLE. Jack will be sadly missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other family and Friends. Friends may call at the Giffen-Mack ''Scarborough'' Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Avenue E. (just west of Kingston Rd.), 416-281-6800, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Interment Saint Margaret's in-the-Pines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Rita Winnifred HAWKE
In loving memory of Rita Winnifred HAWKE (née ARCHER,) 89 years, who passed away peacefully in her sleep, at Manitoulin Centennial Manor, Monday morning, March 11, 2002. Rita was born in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. She lived in Garson and the Sudbury area for several years, before moving to Little Current. She was a very active member of the United Church and the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was always willing to help on any project. Rita was a very dedicated volunteer for the Cancer Society, receiving a certificate of appreciation for her efforts. She also received a lifetime membership to the Manitoulin Health Centre Hospital Auxiliary. Beloved wife of Norman Edgar HAWKE, predeceased Oct. 28, 1994. Loving mother of Kendall (wife Jan) and Daniel (wife Brenda), all of Little Current. Loving grandmother of Kelly, Danna, Angela, Devon and Alison and great grandmother of Caitlan, Christian, Destiny, Dylan, Tyler and Jordanna. Loving daughter of Mary Isabel ARCHER (née SAWYER) and Bertram ARCHER, both predeceased. Dear sister of Norma BUCK (husband Albie) of Toronto, Doreen McDONALD (husband Angus, predeceased) of Toronto, Bertram " Bud" ARCHER of Buffalo, NY. Predeceased by sisters Jean, "Ted", and Thear. Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and special daughters Sheila McBRIDE and Sharon LANE. A Memorial Service to celebrate Rita's life will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at the Little Current United Church, at 1: 00 p.m. Arrangements in care of Island Funeral Home.

Shirley Jean VANEVERY
In loving memory of Shirley Jean VANEVERY, November 3, 1931 - April 26, 2002.
Shirley VANEVERY, a resident of Meldrum Bay, died at the Sudbury Regional Hospital Site, on Friday April 26, 2002 at the age of 70 years. She was born at Tehkummah, daughter of the late Dodds and Vilda {PERRINS} McCAULEY. Shirley taught school for 35 years, starting in Meldrum Bay, then Elizabeth Bay, Burpee and finally Gore Bay, retiring after her accident. Although Shirley was dealt a position in life that would make many others not able to cope, she enjoyed many of the simple things in life, such as driving around the countryside or going to watch the cattle with Clarke, watching wildlife, but mostly spending time with her family. Shirley's greatest enjoyment, without question was her grandchildren, her children and Clarke. Her love and memories will be cherished by each forever. Dearly loved wife and best friend of Clarke. Loving and loved mother of John and Wendy VANEVERY of Gore Bay, Lyle and Janice VANEVERY of Lively and Joan and Willis SHEPPARD of Mindemoya. Proud grandmother of Elizabeth, Colin, Caroline, Evan, Owen and Graham. Dear sister of Pat (Calvin) LEESON of Elliot Lake, Joan (Bert) SAWYER of Tehkummah, Dodds McCAULEY of Willowdale, David (Barb) McCauley of Tehkummah, Brock (Tracy) McCauley of Gordonville, Texas, sister-in-law Shirley Anne McCAULEY of Brampton. Predeceased by brother Blaine. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home on Sunday. The funeral service was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Monday April 29, 2002 at 2: 00 p.m. with Mr. Erwin THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON officiating. Interment in Meldrum Bay Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Culgin Funeral Home.

SAWYER, Leslie Earl -- Peacefully with his family, at his home, Mary Street, Picton, on Thursday, November 14th, 2002, Leslie Earl SAWYER, formerly of Toronto, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Audrey and Alma. Loved father of Barbara-Ann (late Ron) VOLLICK of Brampton and Bill and his wife Grace of Manitoulin Island. Dear brother of the late Evelyn FARRELL of Toronto. Sadly missed by his 7 grandchildren and his 11 great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and Friends will take place at his late residence, 50 Mary Street, Picton, on Sunday from 1 till 5 p.m. Cremation. HUGHES, Frances ''Fran'' -- Born in Alderwood on October 8, 1926. Fran retired from Campbell's Soup after 41 years and was a Charter Member of the Trafalgar Golf and Country Club. After a lengthy illness Fran passed away on December 17, 2002. Survived by her sister Therese and predeceased by her brother Jack (Sonny) and sister Marian (Chick). Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and Friends everywhere. Her special companion ''Cheekie'' has found a new home with Wendy SAWYER. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W.
