PEACE, Brian Robert -- Suddenly, on Sunday, November 10, 2002, at the age of 44. Beloved husband of Deanne. Loving father of Jacob Alexander. Dear son of Joyce and the late John PEACE. Brother of Hugh (Sandra) and the late Ian PEACE. Son-in-law of Ward and Lynda STAVERT. Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at the ''Scarborough Chapel'' of McDougall & Brown, 2900 Kingston Road (east of St. Clair Ave. E.), on Wednesday, November 13th from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14th at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. DOWNEY, G. Ray -- Peacefully at his home in Baldwin on Monday, November 18, 2002 at the age of 87 years. Ray DOWNEY, beloved husband of Johnina. Loving father of Virginia GOSSLING and her husband Rick of Toronto and Linda ARNOTT of Newmarket. Grandfather of Kathy SPEARS and her husband Paul, Peggy PEAKE and her husband Ian, John GOSSLING and his wife Nancy and great-grandfather of Kyle and Turner SPEARS, Paige and Madison PEAKE, Tayte and Flynne GOSSLING. Dear brother of Allan and his wife Florence, Frank and his wife Bea. Lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and Friends. PEAKER, Fanny -- Peacefully passed away on November 11, 2002 at the Chelsey Park Streetsville Nursing Home, in her 102nd year. Dearly devoted wife of the late Clarence PEAKER. Loving mother of Norma LOUTTIT of Mississauga and Leona O'BRIEN of Nova Scotia. Sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Marvin Alfred CLARKE
January 8, 1914 to October 2, 2002
Marvin CLARKE, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, passed away at the Lodge on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Sudbury, son of the late Wm. Thomas and Lydia Mae PEARSON) CLARKE, and grew up in Gore Bay. Marvin attended Teachers College in 1932 and then Technical Teachers Training College. He taught for 10 years, on Manitoulin and Kirkland Lake, then to Kapuskasing where he taught for 28 years, retiring to Gore Bay in 1972. Marvin was past president of the High School Teachers' Federation, Northern District, a Quarter Century Member of the Kapuskasing High School had been on the Children's Aid Board for over ten years, as Secretary Treasurer in Kapuskasing and as President of the Manitoulin Board and was a member of the Spruce Falls Masonic Lodge 648, Kapuskasing. Marvin was predeceased by his loving wife Lillian (SPRY) CLARKE, April 2, 1998. Loved father of James and his wife Janet, and will be missed by granddaughter Samantha. Dear brother of Harold CLARKE and his wife Patricia of Espanola Lawrence CLARKE and his wife Marie of Gore Bay, and brother-in-law to Jennie SPRY. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by grand_son Adam, September 2000 daughter Caroline in 1938, brothers James, George and Frank and brothers-in-law Leonard SPRY and Lloyd SPRY.
Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home on Thursday. The funeral service was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Friday, October 4, 2002 at 11: 00 a.m. with Mrs. Margaret Wood officiating. Interment in Gordon Cemetery.

Politician born in Port Colborne, Ontario, in 1898, said to organize anything from a pile of clothespins to a political party, in 1950s, became president of the National Federation of Liberal Women of Canada, vice-president of the Business and Professional Women's Club and a leader of the Ontario Hospital Auxiliaries Association, in 1967, appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Lester PEARSON, one of first female senators, encouraged women to become politically active, establish own bank accounts and learn how to pay bills, retired from Senate in 1975.

PEAT, Elizabeth (Betty) (née LANG) -- Died suddenly on December 24, 2002, in her 93rd year, after a very brief illness at home. Daughter of the late Col. W.R. LANG and Edith (Daisy) HOLLINGTON, Elizabeth was the wife of the late J.R. MacDonald (Don) PEAT mother of Dr. Marjorie HENDERSON, Nora PEAT and Daniel PEAT sister of the late Dr. Janet ROSS, the late Margaret (Bunty) DONALDSON and Vernon LANG. She is survived by her three children her brother; her sister-in-law, Marjorie KAYE (John;) and her son-in-law the Reverend Harvey HENDERSON; her daughter-in-law, Iraina NEUFELD; six grandchildren, Brill PAPPIN, David Piers PAPPIN, Ben PAPPIN, Donald HENDERSON, Christopher HENDERSON and Emma PEAT; and twelve nieces and nephews and their children. She was a graduate of Havergal College and the University of Toronto (B.A., B.Paed.), where she was active in a Model League of Nations, and in anti-war work with the Youth Council. During her years in Niagara she worked as a secondary school substitute teacher, and as a teaching assistant at Brock University, and was involved with the National Ballet Guild, then with the Pelham Historical Society and the Preservation of Agricultural Lands Society. Elizabeth was active until the end, planting bulbs in her garden last week, and was heard correcting her son's grammar on the evening she died. Her family will miss her love and guidance. Special thanks to Dr. Shari FALLIS, Community Care Access Centre Niagara, and the Red Cross Homemakers who enabled her to maintain her independence. Visitation, following cremation, at the Pedlar Funeral Home, Fonthill, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Funeral at 11: 00 a.m. on Monday, December 30th at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fonthill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amnesty International.
