Loving mother and mother-in-law of Wendy WALKIN, Penny PAUL and Thad GRIFFIN, and Jacqueline PAUL and Leo PO. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lester and Sheila ZEVIT. Cherished daughter of Aaron ZEVIT. Devoted grandmother of Jessica, and Davis. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (1 light west of Dufferin) for service on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 12: 00 noon. PAUL, Herbert Stanley (Stan) - 1916-2002 -- Passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2002 in Peterborough, Ontario Beloved husband of Violet (MILLIGAN;) wonderful dad of Stephen (Renee CARON,) Patricia (Michael CARSON,) and Elaine (Keith WILSON;) dear grandfather of eight. Stan grew up in Montreal, served in W.W.II as a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy, and came home from the war to have a successful career at Bell Canada. As a young man, he enjoyed tennis and skiing and in later years, golf and travelling (he and Vi travelled to over 40 countries). Stan had the gift of putting people at their ease. His genuine smile and thoughtful ways endeared him to all of us and he will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Princess Gardens, 100 Charlotte Street, Peterborough at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16. Arrangements by Nesbitt Funeral Home (705-745- 3211). Donations to The Parkinson Society of Canada for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Research would be appreciated.

SINGH, Ramkumar (Buddy) -- Surrounded by his loving family, passed away suddenly on November 18, 2002 at the Toronto Western Hospital at the age of 77. He was the loving and devoted husband of 54 years to Tapearee (Eunice). Beloved father of Patsy and Joey SINGH, Jacqueline and Ishmael HASSAN, Joycelyn and Ramnarine DEONANDAN, Beverley and Suresh PAUL, Wendy and George NARINE, Trevor, Kenrick and Sattie SINGH, Kaminee and Joe LORENZ, Nalinee and Shameer KHAN, Joanne, Royston and the late Shalinee. Cherished grandfather of 31 and great-grandfather of 3. He is survived by his brother Basdeo (Manna) SINGH. Ramkumar will be lovingly remembered by everyone. Friends will be received at the Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Ave., Ajax (905-428-9090), on Wednesday, November 20 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment Salem Cemetery.

PAVLAKIS, Smaro -- Peacefully, at the Hellenic Home for Seniors, on Thursday, December 19, 2002, in her 107th year. Smaro was predeceased by her husband Peter. Loving and dear mother of Nicholas Pavlakis PAUL and his wife Clara. Cherished and beloved grandmother of Peter and his wife Irene, Nico and his wife Caterina, Andrew and his wife Kerri. Great-grandmother of Nicholas and Aiden GEORGE. Sister of Despina EFSTATHIOU of Akron, Ohio and aunt of Dorothy EFSTATHIOU. Mrs. Smaro PAVLAKIS (PAUL) was one of the pioneers of the Greek Community in Toronto. She devoted herself to the Greek Orthodox Church and the Greek Community, and was the first teacher of the Greek language in Toronto. In addition, she was an organizer of the annual parade in celebration of the National Holiday of March 25th. Smaro served as a model and splendid example of the Greek immigrants' successful achievement in maintaining and preserving the tradition of the homeland, as well as fulfilling the role of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her philosophy was always to educate those who are interested in education and to help serve the needs of people. Her services to the Greek Community were exemplary as she strived with her exuberance and vitality to fill the hearts of all her many students with the fire and love of God and the desire to build and develop a better human society built on love, peace and warmly human qualities. Smaro constantly displayed a great concern for human dignity and social justice, which made her a greatly loved person. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (South of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday. Service will be held at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 115 Bond Street, on Monday at 10 o'clock. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Hellenic Home for Seniors, 215 Tyrell Avenue, Toronto M6G 4A8 or the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy, 86 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto M4H 1C6.

SPEDALIERE, Luigi -- Passed away peacefully at Villa Columbo on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at the age of 93 years. Luigi was the beloved husband of the late Anna. Loved father of Maria GRECO, Dora PAULOZZA and her husband Jack, Lina NOSELLA and her husband Bruno, Vincent and his wife Karon, and Jack and his wife Deborah. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Danny GRECO, and Antonietta LAVINIO; Laura RAGNO, Costanzzo PAULOZZA, Luigi PAULOZZA, and Anna DI CIAULO; David NOSELLA, and Sonia BRADSHAW Annamaria FIORINI, Louie A. SPEDALIERE, and Domenic V. SPEDALIERE Mark SPEDALIERE, Danilla LARICE, and Vanessa SPEDALIERE. Luigi is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
