With great sadness, our family announces the passing of Marie BELLAMY on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 in the North York General Hospital at the age of 96 years. Beloved wife of the late Everett BELLAMY. Daughter of the late James CALDWELL and Mary Jane McVEIGH of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Predeceased by her daughter Lois PATERSON and granddaughter Cary PATERSON. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Grace of Vancouver, her son Leonard (Bertha) of Morrisburg, grand_sons Rodney PATERSON (Leslie,) Aaron WIGLEY of Toronto, Gary BELLAMY of Ottawa, granddaughters Cindy STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and Tracy BELLAMY of Toronto, and great-grandchildren Braden, Laurel, Sarah, Yvonne, David, Jacklyn and Kassandra. PATON, John Lindsey -- On November 22, 2002, in Toronto, in his 82nd year, after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by parents John Henderson and Helen Lucille PATON, first wife Dorothy Sylvia TREEN, and sister Helen Jacqeline SUGDEN. Survivors include second wife Ione Gertrude McKEE of Toronto, sister Cora LOUISE of Victoria, British Columbia, brothers Alexander Ray (Orma) of Victoria, British Columbia and Elwood MacLean (Leona) of Bechard, Saskatchewan, son John Douglas of Clifford, Ontario, and daughter Shirleyanne NEWTON (George) of Clifford, Ontario, step-father of James Henry, Patricia Ione, Heather Ruth, and Thomas Elmer, and loving grandfather James, David, Dawn-Ellen, Darrin, Bruce, and Lindsey. Borne at Cottage Hospital in Regina, on October 8, 1921, John was the eldest of five children. He was raised in Bechard, Saskatchewan, where he attended Crocus Plains and Badger Hill Schools and assisted his father with the operation of a Western Grain Elevator. At 16, he attended Luther College, Regina, where he completed high school, and in 1939 earned his second year diploma from the University of Saskatchewan. He joined the Dominion Bank in Regina, where he worked until 1942. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, received radar training, went overseas to Great Britain, and was seconded to the Royal Air Force He served on the coasts of England as a Radar Operator through the rest of the war. He enjoyed his time in Britain and returned several times after the war. He returned to the bank and, on retirement from the Toronto Dominion Bank in 1984, was a Senior Vice President. John was a Member of the United Church of Canada from its formation in 1925. As a Member of St. James United Church in Etobicoke, he held positions of Trustee and Auditor, and served on the maintenance committee. He was a Member of the Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan and the Scottish Rite in Regina, a Member of the Assiniboine Club in Winnipeg, a Member of the Toronto Board of Trade, the Royal Canadian Air Force Radar Veterans' Association, Treasurer of the Regina Capitals hockey club, and a lecturer on banking at the University of Manitoba. One of John's passions was hockey, and he spent countless hours researching and accumulating previously unpublished statistics for amateur hockey, in both Canada and United States. In the late 1980's, he became a Charter Member of The Society for International Hockey Research, and later played a major role in contributing his work to the book Total Hockey, published by the National Hockey League in 1998. John also had a deep interest in history and enjoyed traveling in his retirement years. Other interests lay in football, curling, golf, square dancing, bridge, reading, railways, and his grandchildren. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street West (between Islington and Kipling Avenues), from 4-7 p.m. Monday. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 11 o'clock. Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery. On Christmas Day a Hand that bore the imprint of a nail reached down to end the suffering of our brother and carry him to his eternal rest. Richard George was the beloved son of Richard and Marjory LEWIS (both predeceased). Loved and devoted brother to sisters Marjory (Mrs. M. PATTERSON), Toronto, Anne (Mrs. M. WEBBER), Nova Scotia, Lois (Mrs. D. FRENCH,) Grimsby, Ontario, and brothers Bill and George, both of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by Irene. No visitation. Cremation. WOODMAN, Leonard W. -- Suddenly, on December 25, 2002, at the age of 93. Beloved husband to JoAnne for nearly 30 years. PATTERSON, Mildred Lilian (née QUAIL) -- On December 28, 2002, in her 83rd year, after a life well lived, at Chelsey Park Nursing Home in Streetsville. Beloved wife of Thomas S. PATTERSON. Devoted mother of Kathleen HADLEY and her husband Peter, Betty ANNE and her husband David WHITFIELD and Thomas PATTERSON Jr. Mildred will also be greatly missed by her 2 grand_sons, Kevin and Eric HADLEY. Mildred, her brothers John and James and her late sister Betty were all born in Winnipeg, but moved to Toronto at an early age. Graduating from the U. of T. in Household Economics in 1945, Mildred was an exceptional seamstress and subsequently taught dress-making and cooking in schools in Weston and Thistletown. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 3rd at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr) Oakville. He is survived by loving wife of 42 years, Anne SCOTT. Devoted father to Elizabeth and her husband Alan, David and his wife Maureen. Proud grandfather of Meagan, Michael and Jessica. Brother to Brian SCOTT; sister to Leone O'DONNELL and the late Lorraine PATTESON. son of the late Stanley and Elsie SCOTT. Beloved wife of Neil BRYANT (predeceased April 15, 1996.)
Annie was born May 18/14 in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Lily and James HARPER. Predeceased by brother William. Dear mother of Gladys MOORE (husband Albert predeceased 1997) of Manitowaning, Mervyn and wife Joan BRYANT of Wainfleet, Lily and husband Dave BUGG of Lively. She was the loving grandmother of Darlene, Christine, Jennifer, Jeffery, Jaclyn and Melissa. Dear great grandmother of Cassandra, Jordon, Megan and Brandon. Predeceased by two grandchildren Chris and Heather. Dear aunt of Corrine, Mae, Georgina, Nickie, Cathy, Jim, Brad, Brian, Billy, Jackie and Billie.
Annie met her husband Neil in Nova Scotia during the war. She left family and Friends for a new life working by her husband's side on their farm in Manitowaning. After Neil passed away, she filled her time with family and Friends. Annie loved being part of the four generations that traveled everywhere together. Her Friends were one of her greatest treasures in the last few years, she enjoyed going to the Friendship Club in Manitowaning and playing euchre or just spending Saturday going to yard sales with her friend Olive. Annie leaves a legacy of strength and strong family ties. She will be missed very much.
Visitation was held in Knox United Church Hall. The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Knox United Church in Manitowaning.
Followed by cremation with burial of ashes in Elm View Cemetery.
