In loving memory of Evelyn Margeurite MORPHET. What the heart gives away is never gone....It is kept in the hearts of others. (Robin Saint John). Evelyn passed away at Manitoulin Health Centre on Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the age of 68 years.
Predeceased by husband Clifford (1998), loving mother of Eric and Sheila of Espanola, Elaine of Kitchener, Sandy and Rhonda of Sault Ste Marie, Gary and Janice of Little Current. Will be missed by grandchildren Michelle and husband Jason GAGNE, Susanne, Adam, Kimberly, Christopher, Brittany and Jonathon. Remembered by brothers and sisters, Fred and Sheila MARSHALL of Pine Island, Helen and Charlie EVERETT of Massey, Tom and Sheila MARSHALL of Sault Ste. Marie, predeceased by Cliff. Dear sister-in-law of Nora HAGEN and Lily MORPHET. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visitation was from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday May 10. Funeral Service was held 2: 00 p.,m. Saturday May 11, 2002 both at Island Funeral Home. Burial took place at Mountainview Cemetery. Donations to MHC Auxiliary or Daffodil Terrace would be appreciated.

SKELCHER, Edmund Robert " Ed"
(retired from Ontario Transport Board, past director of Ontario Motor Coach Assoc.)
After a courageous battle with cancer, Ed entered into rest peacefully with dignity at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on Monday, June 17, 2002. Ed was the beloved husband of the late Gloria Bellamy SKELCHER. Lovingly remembered by his children Judy McALPINE (Peter), Rick SKELCHER (Cathy), Joy MARSHMAN, Sherri BICKLE (Doug) and Jonathan SKELCHER. Stepfather to Carol HEIMLER (Bob,) Patricia BUSCH (Don), Lynne ASSELIN (Tim) and Richard BELLAMY (Karen). Fondly remembered by his 16 grandchildren and by his only sister, Roberta RITCHIE (Alex.) Ed will be greatly missed by relatives, many Friends and Tinkerbell. Visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 20, 2002 from 12 noon until time of funeral service in the chapel at 2: 00 p.m. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. The family would appreciate expressions of sympathy to the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay.

Beloved son of Whitford and Agnes (née MARSTON) McDONALD both predeceased. Loving brother of Isabel (husband Joe PERKINS) of Toronto, Lewis MacDONALD of Lindsay and predeceased by Robert MacDONALD (wife Alice of Sudbury.) Will be sadly missed by his nephews Richard MacDONALD (wife Ethel) of Dundas, David MacDONALD (wife Theresa) of Sudbury and Bob PERKINS of Toronto. Funeral Service was held in the Tehkummah Pentecostal Church, Tehkummah on April 4th, 2002. Interment took place at Hilly Grove Cemetery, Manitoulin Island. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home, 252 Regent St. Sudbury.

Violet COOPER of Espanola passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 30, 2002 in her 73rd year.
Beloved wife of the late Clarence COOPER (1982.) Dear daughter of John and Flora {PATTERSON} HEMBRUFF. Loving mother of Nancy (Mrs. Edmond TREMBLAY,) Joan (Mrs. Lional McCAULEY) both of Espanola, Mrs. Linda HAMEL of Wawa, Betty (Mrs. Richard GUAY) of Verner, Flora (Mrs. Wilfrid TREMBLAY) of Lively, Mrs. Rose-Marie BENSLER of Kitchener, Michael (wife Jane) of Little Current and the late Mark Cooper, Bruce Cooper and three infant children.Will be sadly missed by 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Very dear sister of the late Ella MARTELL, Verona McCULLIGH, Mary BURNETT, Elsie MARTELL, Marjorie McCULLIGH, Rita MUSGRAVE, Roy HEMBRUFF, John HEMBRUFF, Richard HEMBRUFF and Ivan HEMBRUFF. Funeral mass was held July 3rd from the Good Sheppard Roman Catholic Church in Espanola with the Reverend Mr. Don SUNSTRUM officiating. Interment in Espanola Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bourcier Funeral Home, Espanola.

Visitation was held on Friday November 22, 2002 at Island Funeral Home. Funeral Service was held on Saturday November 23, 2002 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Little Current followed by cremation.

In loving memory of Phyllis Maxine {MARTIN} BAXTER, November 3, 1927-January 27, 2002.
Maxine BAXTER, a resident of Manitowaning passed away at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor, Little Current on Sunday, January 27, 2002 at the age of 74 years. She was born in Tehkummah Township daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret {HANER} MARTIN. Maxine and her late husband Henry built and operated the Buck Horn Motel in South Baymouth for many years. Maxine also worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Knox United Church Women's group and enjoyed knitting, reading and a good game of cards. Beloved wife of Henry L. BAXTER (predeceased 1974.) Dear and loving mother of Blaine (wife Bea) Winnipeg, Peggy (husband Brian) Espanola, Tim (predeceased 1973), Anne (husband Greg) Edson, Alberta, Tracy (husband Jamie) Sudbury. Loving grandmother of Terri, Kelly, Darren, Jeff, Christopher, Michael, Joellen, Alissa and Zachary and 3 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Girda SMELTZER, Wayne (wife Pauline,) Lloyd (predeceased) and Floyd. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, January 31, 2002 at the Manitowaning Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Wally WOOD officiating. Interment in the spring at Hilly Grove Cemetery. Ross LANE - Passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, age 49 years.
Beloved husband of Evelyn {BAUMAN/BOWMAN} . Dear father of Brian of Kitchener dear son of James and Madeline LANE of Gore Bay loved brother of Vivian CHIPMAN (Curtis) of California, Marilyn KING and Linda PINDAR (Ivan) both of Lively, Ontario, Glen LANE (Valerie) of Waterloo and Marie FIRLOTTE (Michael) of Cambridge. Brother-in-law to Geraldine BRUBACHER (Ken) of Elmira, Patricia MARTIN (Murray) of West Montrose, Martin BAUMAN/BOWMAN (Barbara) of Waterloo, Raymond BAUMAN/BOWMAN (Barbara) of Elmira, Dolores RAMIREZ (Miguel) of Elmira, Stewart BAUMAN/BOWMAN (Cheryl) of Hawkesville, Eunice FREY (James) of Hawkesville, Pearl FREY (Wayne) of Hawkesville, Jennifer BAUMAN/BOWMAN of Hawkesville. Survived by his parents and mother-in-law, Adina BAUMAN/BOWMAN of Hawkesville. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ross was a valued long-term employee of Samuel Steel, Bothwell Division, Cambridge for the past 25 years for which he received his Quarter Century Club gold watch on March 7, 2002. He was a valued friend and neighbour for his expert experience as a handyman and his hobbies of playing pool (snooker) and an internet pal. In his younger years on Manitoulin Island he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was employed at Wagg's Creamery in Mindemoya and at TH&B Railway in Hamilton. Ross' family received Friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held on Good Friday, March 29, 2002 in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. Reverend Paul Fletcher officiated. Interment Hawkesville Cemetery.

Elva Lauretta McGILLIS
In loving memory of Elva Lauretta McGillis, June 16, 1914 to December 6, 2002. Lauretta McGILLIS, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Friday December 6, 2002 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Tehkummah Twp., daughter of the late George and Laura (BAXTER) VINEY. She was a member of the United Church, loved growing flowers, especially her pansies and glads, and enjoyed knitting and sewing, having made many quilts. Lauretta was a hard working farm wife and mother, and will be fondly remembered for her pride, love and enjoyment of her children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Neil McGILLIS on February 26, 1993. Loving and loved mother of June LENTIR, (husband Russ HERRINGTON predeceased,) Robert and his wife Verlie McGILLIS of Mindemoya and Rick and his wife Debby McGILLIS of Trout Creek. Proud grandmother of Diane, Laura (husband George MARTIN,) Tammy (husband Cyle RITCHIE,) Patrick (friend Amy WALKER,) Ginger (husband Rick DESFORGE,) Victoria (friend Randy QUIRT) and great grandchildren George, Jennifer, Logan, Brittany, Zachary, Gavin and Samantha. Dear sister of Harry VINEY (wife Margaret predeceased,) Charlie (Lillian) VINEY, Glen (Margaret) VINEY, Joyce (Howard) HOLMES, Gladys, predeceased, husband Harry JAGGARD, Ruth, husband Wm. T. David is the loving husband of Joan (MURISON;) cherished brother of Marian and Bill BIEMAN brother-in-law of Evelyn WILSON, Pearl and Ted SMITH, Vivian GALLO, Marie MARTIN; and "little brother" of Marion Hannah and Gwen Wharram. He is also a dear uncle of Peter and Leslie BIEMAN, David BIEMAN, Lynda and Peter DUCKWORTH, Wayne and Aiko MURPHY, Bonnie WINCHESTER, Tim and Carole MARTIN, Gaye and Marty DUNLOP, Scott and Anna MARTIN, and Heidi McCRON. David loves his many great-nieces and nephews as he also mutually loved his music students during his 25 years at North Toronto Collegiate. Even as a teenage organist, David served his Lord through the ministry of music. Just this week we discussed the idea that "life is like music - some high notes and some low notes, but a wonderful song none the less." David and Joan thank their many caring Friends at East York Community Care Access Centre and at Sunnybrook. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W.
