PALANTZAS, Danny -- Passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on November 23, 2002 at the age of 59. Loving husband of Lela. Devoted father of Stephanie and Gina. He will be sadly missed by brothers Kosta, Minas, Vasili, Spiro, Alex and sister Vasiliki ZDRAKAS, brother-in-law James and Tom BARTZIS and Frank KARAMETCH and their families. Friends may call the Heritage Funeral Centre, Don Valley Chapel, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto (West of Don Mills Rd., 416-423-1000) on Sunday from 5-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Metamorphosis Tou Sotiros Greek Orthodox Church, 40 Donlands Ave., on Monday at 12 p.m. Interment at York Cemetery.

HASSOS, Dimitrios ''James'' -- The family sadly announces the death of Dimitrios ''James'' HASSOS suddenly, as the result of a heart attack on Thursday, December 26, 2002, at age 64 years. Jimmy was the loving husband of Georgina (née KATSARGIRIS;) loved father of Bill and his wife Tina, and their son James of Toronto, Stacey MANZO and her husband Franco and their daughter Georgia of Brantford. Jimmy is predeceased by his parents Anastasia and Angelo HASSOS; dear brother of Mike and Mina HASSOS, Toronto Sophie KARAVELIS and her late husband Tom, Toronto; Olympios HASSOS and his wife Ririka, Greece; dear brother-in-law of Toula and Tony DEDES, Brantford; Steve and Penny KATSARGIRIS, Brantford Christina KATSARGIRIS, U.S.A.; Soula and Peter PERLINTZIS, Greece also loved by many nieces and nephews. James and his wife Georgina were the owners of the John Peel Restaurant for over 25 years. Jimmy was a member at the Brantford Golf and Country Club and a past member of the Rotary Club of Brantford, and a member of the Florina Society, Toronto. The family will receive Friends at Mccleister Funeral Home, North Chapel, 495 Park Road North, Brantford, Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. On Sunday, visitation will be held at the Turner and Porter Funeral Home, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, 136 Sorauren Avenue, Toronto on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. KARLE, Gerhard -- After a courageous battle with cancer, at his residence on Maclean Lake, on Thursday, November 14, 2002, Gerhard KARLE, formerly of Toronto, in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Jacinthe KARLE. Sadly missed by his many Friends at Maclean Lake and Gloucester Pool. Following cremation, a Memorial Funeral Service will be held at the Coldwater Funeral Home, 22 Sturgeon Bay Road, Coldwater (1-888-645-5485), on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 11 a.m. In memoriam donations to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Oncology Department would be appreciated by the family, and will be received by the funeral home.

In loving memory of Harold Edward KARN, peacefully at Mindemoya Hospital on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at the age of 94 years. Survived by sisters Ethel MONROE and Edeleen AGAR, predeceased by all other brothers and sisters: Emmanuel and wife Helen KARN, Carl and wife Marie KARN, Vera and husband Norm BURT, Russell and wife Alieta KARN,
Alvin and wife Dorothy KARN, Floyd KARN. Predeceased by brothers-in-law, Roy MILLER, Will STONE, Bert AGAR, Jack MONROE. Remembered with love by 15 nieces and nephews many great and great great nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 21, 2002. Funeral service will be held at 2: 00 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Island Funeral Home. Burial in the Cold Springs Cemetery.

KARN, Elsie -- At Oxford Regional Retirement Home, Ingersoll on Thursday November 21, 2002. Elsie R.E. KARN (née EARLE,) formerly of Woodstock in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd W. KARN (1989.) Dear mother of Willard KARN and his wife Pat of Tillsonburg and Elizabeth HATTER and her husband Ray of Whitby. Loved grandmother of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by her Friends Jill SMITH, Prudence RUCKLE and Mabel CUTHBERT. Predeceased by her daughter Grace KARN (1950,) son, Donald KARN (1997,) sisters Eileen HUBNER, Sophia LUDINGTON, Alice McROBERTS, Violet SCHERLE and brothers Robert, Samuel, Edward, Allan, Bill and Bert. Elsie was born in Wexford, Ireland in 1908 and immigrated to Canada 14 years later where she met Lloyd and married in 1928. Elsie helped to farm at the family homestead for many years on Bowerhill Road, now known as Karn Road in Woodstock. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Friday 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel Saturday at 1: 30 pm with Reverend Roger McCOMBE officiating.
