David PHILLIPS
David PHILLIPS entered into rest at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Tuesday, June 4, 2002. Dave PHILLIPS in his 64th year was the beloved husband of Mary Lou HUNTER. Loving father of Vickie HOLDER and her husband Stan HOLDER of Woodville, Robert and his wife Michelle of Sunderland and Dale at home. Dear Grampa of Susan, Shavonne, Adam, Laura and Noah. Funeral service was held from the Thorne Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 1: 30 pm. Interment Sunderland Cemetery. As a remembrance, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Vroomanton United Church, would be appreciated by the family.

Elizabeth HUNTER SMYTH
In loving memory of Elizabeth HUNTER SMYTH, October 14, 1924 to June 15, 2002.
Elizabeth "Betty" SMYTH, a resident of Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay, died at the Lodge on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the age of 77. She was born in Scotland, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary BLACK.
Betty lived in Gore Bay and was employed as clerk at the CO-OP store for many years. She was a member of the Lyons Memorial United Church, the Friendship Club and a 50-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 514 Gore Bay. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and camping.
Dear and loving wife of the late Charles Henry SMYTH. Dear mother of Heather LEIGH and husband Paul of Orangeville. Proud grandmother of Steven SZABO and his wife Jennifer and Deborah SZABO and her fiancé Justin FOREMAN. Dear great grandmother of Joshua, Connor and Emma. Dear sister of Margaret REID and Andrew BLACK both of Scotland and predeceased by two sisters May and Isobel. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Culgin Funeral Home on Wednesday June 19, 2002 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Silver Water Cemetery.

Noreen Lois RUSSELL
In loving memory of Noreen Lois RUSSELL, August 10, 1940 to October 6, 2002 at Mindemoya Hospital on Sunday at the age of 62 years.
Born to parents Lydia and Samuel RUSSELL both predeceased, also predeceased by step father Paul HUNTER. Will be greatly missed by sister Betty LENTIR (husband George predeceased) of Providence Bay. Dear aunt of Shirley and Owen LEGGE of Mindemoya, Fred of Providence Bay, Lenora and Mike TANN of Mindemoya, Reg of Providence Bay, Robert and Andrea of Espanola. Great aunt of Julie (husband John), Jackie, Wayne, Andrea, Brad, Lisa, Makenna and Avery. Great great aunt of Jesse and Jarret. Visitation was on Wednesday October 9. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Mindemoya United Church with Reverend Mary Jo Tracy officiating. Burial in Hilly Grove Cemetery. Donations to Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary or Little Current Dialysis Unit would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements in care of Island Funeral Home, Little Current, Ontario.

Elva Lauretta McGILLIS
In loving memory of Elva Lauretta McGillis, June 16, 1914 to December 6, 2002. Lauretta McGILLIS, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Friday December 6, 2002 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Tehkummah Twp., daughter of the late George and Laura (BAXTER) VINEY. She was a member of the United Church, loved growing flowers, especially her pansies and glads, and enjoyed knitting and sewing, having made many quilts. Lauretta was a hard working farm wife and mother, and will be fondly remembered for her pride, love and enjoyment of her children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Neil McGILLIS on February 26, 1993. Loving and loved mother of June LENTIR, (husband Russ HERRINGTON predeceased,) Robert and his wife Verlie McGILLIS of Mindemoya and Rick and his wife Debby McGILLIS of Trout Creek. Proud grandmother of Diane, Laura (husband George MARTIN,) Tammy (husband Cyle RITCHIE,) Patrick (friend Amy WALKER,) Ginger (husband Rick DESFORGE,) Victoria (friend Randy QUIRT) and great grandchildren George, Jennifer, Logan, Brittany, Zachary, Gavin and Samantha. Dear sister of Harry VINEY (wife Margaret predeceased,) Charlie (Lillian) VINEY, Glen (Margaret) VINEY, Joyce (Howard) HOLMES, Gladys, predeceased, husband Harry JAGGARD, Ruth, husband Wm. T. McCULLOUGH both predeceased and Grace, husband Carm HUNTER, both predeceased. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church on Sunday December 8, 2002. The funeral service was conducted on Monday December 9, 2002 at 2: 00 p.m. with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT TRACY officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery. Culgin Funeral Home
