NEWMARCH, Violet Ottilly (BLAKESTONE, HOPCRAFT) -- Peacefully passed away December 22nd, 2002, in her ninety-seventh year. Her ability to face and overcome life's difficulties prepared her well to meet the challenges of her last year with courage and dignity. Predeceased by her loving husbands, Jack BLAKESTONE (1946) and John NEWMARCH (1998.) She will be sadly missed by daughters Lorraine WILLIAMS and Beverley BOWYER (Fred) and stepchildren Ed NEWMARCH (Carole) and Connie NEWMARCH. She was a loving Grandmother to Steven, Blake, Laurel, John, Karin, Kirstin, David, Diana, Jonathan, Donna, Paul and Cathy and the Great-Grandmother of fifteen. Survived by sisters Eva, Elsie, Grace, Olive and Muriel, and brothers Gilbert, George and Fred. Predeceased by sisters Islay, Alice and Mabel and brothers Lorne, Harold, Norman, Clarence, John and Alfred. A celebration of her life will be held at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre-North York, 275 Lesmill Road (Hwy. 401 and Leslie St.) 416-441-1580 on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 11: 00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favourite charity in her memory would be appreciated.

AGNEW, Evelyn (née TEAL) -- Peacefully at Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga on Sunday, December 15, 2002, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late David Charles AGNEW (former proprietors of The Anchorage Marina, Apsley, Ontario). Cherished by daughter Kim CLARKSON and husband Eric of Etobicoke, granddaughter Candice and fiance Greg SHAW, grand_sons Dougie and David and his girlfriend Brittany. Dear sister of Doris HOPE and her husband the late Clare HOPE of Kitchener, Ontario, Johnny TEALE and his wife the late Jackie TEALE of Sudbury and also loved aunt to many nieces and nephews and their families. Friends will be received at the G.H. Hogle Funeral Homes Ltd., 63 Mimico Ave., Etobicoke, on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel Wednesday 11 a.m. followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Scarborough. If desired, a memorial contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated.

HOPPE, Florence Julia -- At North York General Hospital on Tuesday, November 5, 2002. Florence survived by her loving brother Edward (Ted) HOPPE and cousin Harry HOPPE and his wife Lulu of Montreal. Predeceased by her sister Elsie HOPPE. Loving friend of Tony and Lois AMODEO and Manuel and Idalina OLIVEIRA. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2002, 2 p.m. at Grace Church on the Hill (300 Lonsdale Rd. at Russell Hill Rd., Toronto).

BENNETT, Frederick H. -- At Telfer Place, Paris on Friday, November 22, 2002, Frederick H. BENNETT formerly of Brantford, Thunder Bay and Elmvale; in his 93rd year. Fred leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 69 years, May (née Anna May GARLAND;) he was the dearly loved and loving father of Audrey STRATFORD, Paris, Gord and Carolyn BENNETT, Port Elgin, (daughter-in-law) Donna BENNETT, Orillia and Marilyn and Murray HOPTON, Brampton. He was predeceased by his younger son (Ontario Provincial Police Constable) George Hubert BENNETT on February 12, 1980. Mr. BENNETT was the gentle and loving grandfather of the STRATFORD kids, John, Cathy, Jim, Carolyn, Andy and Sharon; the BENNETT kids, Rick, Debbie and Ron; Jeff BENNETT, London, Ontario and the HOPTON kids, Steve and Mike. His 17 'Great grands' will remember him as the loving Grandpa B. who liked to joke with them. He will be lovingly remembered by his youngest sister, Rose GRIFFIN of Oshawa and his brother-in-law, Gord GARLAND of Toronto and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his mother Nellie BENNETT, brother Jim and sisters Floss SQUIBB, Ivy SMITH and Lil MORGAN. He immigrated to Canada with his family from Ferring, West Sussex, England in 1919. He volunteered for service in World War 2 in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers at Barryfield, Kingston serving as an Instructor until 1944. He saw service in England, France, Germany and Holland and was discharged in 1945. He retired from the Ontario Department of Corrections in June, 1971 after 23 years service. Mr. BENNETT was a gentle man of strong Christian faith. Friends will be received at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River Street North, Paris on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 12: 30 p.m. where funeral service will be held at 1: 30 p.m. Reverend Sheila BURNS of Glen Morris United Church officiating. Interment Glen Morris Cemetery. His family would appreciate remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer Society or the Glen Morris United Church. Special thanks to Theresa DAFOE, his daily St. Elizabeth Order visiting nurse, Dr. Mark PIERCEY and the caring staff of Telfer Place L.T.C. Wm. Kipp 519-442-3061.
