David PHILLIPS entered into rest at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Tuesday, June 4, 2002. Dave PHILLIPS in his 64th year was the beloved husband of Mary Lou HUNTER. Loving father of Vickie HOLDER and her husband Stan HOLDER of Woodville, Robert and his wife Michelle of Sunderland and Dale at home. Dear Grampa of Susan, Shavonne, Adam, Laura and Noah. Funeral service was held from the Thorne Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 1: 30 pm. Interment Sunderland Cemetery. As a remembrance, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Vroomanton United Church, would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully at Manitoulin Health Centre on Tuesday, July 16, 2002, age 85 years.
Beloved husband of Hildur of Black Rock Resort, Manitowaning. Cherished father of Karen and Michael HOLMES of Black Rock Resort, Else and Peter OHLHOFF of St. Catherines, Helen and Ric Belyea of Hamilton, Harald and Carol Kjevik of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving grandfather of Theresa, Natalie, Bill, Christopher, Stephannie and Tove. Survived by three sisters, Jenny, Alvida and Arnhild. Predeceased by Ingrid, Gjordis and Olav. Cremation with burial of ashes in Hilly Grove Cemetery (following the Norwegian tradition). Arrangements in care of Island Funeral Home.

Elva Lauretta McGILLIS
In loving memory of Elva Lauretta McGillis, June 16, 1914 to December 6, 2002. Lauretta McGILLIS, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Friday December 6, 2002 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Tehkummah Twp., daughter of the late George and Laura (BAXTER) VINEY. She was a member of the United Church, loved growing flowers, especially her pansies and glads, and enjoyed knitting and sewing, having made many quilts. Lauretta was a hard working farm wife and mother, and will be fondly remembered for her pride, love and enjoyment of her children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Neil McGILLIS on February 26, 1993. Loving and loved mother of June LENTIR, (husband Russ HERRINGTON predeceased,) Robert and his wife Verlie McGILLIS of Mindemoya and Rick and his wife Debby McGILLIS of Trout Creek. Proud grandmother of Diane, Laura (husband George MARTIN,) Tammy (husband Cyle RITCHIE,) Patrick (friend Amy WALKER,) Ginger (husband Rick DESFORGE,) Victoria (friend Randy QUIRT) and great grandchildren George, Jennifer, Logan, Brittany, Zachary, Gavin and Samantha. Dear sister of Harry VINEY (wife Margaret predeceased,) Charlie (Lillian) VINEY, Glen (Margaret) VINEY, Joyce (Howard) HOLMES, Gladys, predeceased, husband Harry JAGGARD, Ruth, husband Wm. T. McCULLOUGH both predeceased and Grace, husband Carm HUNTER, both predeceased. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church on Sunday December 8, 2002. The funeral service was conducted on Monday December 9, 2002 at 2: 00 p.m. with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT TRACY officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery. Culgin Funeral Home

Margaret Edith LEWIS
In loving memory of Margaret Edith LEWIS, September 1, 1916 to July 19, 2002.
Margaret LEWIS, a resident of Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay, died at the Lodge on Friday, July 19, 2002 at the age of 85.
She was born in Barrie Island, daughter of the late John and Mabel Edith (GAMBLE) CALBACK. Margaret was a housewife and worked on the family farm all her life until she retired to Gore Bay. She was a member of the Lyons Memorial United Church and was a long-time volunteer at the Lodge. She also enjoyed knitting and a good game of cards. Margaret was a social person who enjoyed helping and visiting many people over the years.
Dear and loving wife of the late Arden LEWIS who predeceased her in 1984. Dear mother of Ronald LEWIS and wife Nancy of Gore Bay, Marlene BURNS and husband Stewart of Gordon, Bill LEWIS and wife Gail of Espanola, Betty MASTERS of B.C., Maxine McLEOD and husband Jim of Ice Lake and Barbara ARMSTRONG and husband Scott of Gore Bay. Proud grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 33. Predeceased by one grand_son Jeff LEWIS. Dear sister of Mary COBURN and John CALBACK both predeceased. Dear sister-in-law of Mary KERHANOVICH (friend Earl), Doreen GRANGER (George), Madeline HOLOWACK, Margaret C. LEWIS and Garth and Griffin. Predeceased by Bill LEWIS and George and Ina BREATHAT. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
