HISLOP, Edna (Ted) -- Suddenly, on December 24th, 2002, at Mount Sinai Hospital, in Toronto, at 84 years of age, Edna (Ted) HISLOP, passed away. Daughter of the late John and Ethel HISLOP and sister of Ethel (deceased). Ted graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto, and began working for Bell Telephone Company of Canada. Her determination that employees be treated fairly led her to organize the Commercial Employees and then, in 1943, to play a major part in creating the Canadian Telephone Employees' Association, the trade union which still represents the majority of Bell Canada employees. During her long career as Vice-President of the Canadian Telephone Employees' Association, Ted contributed enormously to the negotiation of collective agreements and the development of health and insurance plans for Bell employees. She was also for many years editor of the ''Teleforum'', the union's official publication. But most of all, she was an inspiration to those lucky enough to know her. She leaves in mourning family members in England, and many, many Friends. Friends will be received at the Giffen-Mack ''Danforth'' Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2570 Danforth Avenue (at Main St. subway), on Friday, January 3, 2003, from 1: 30-2:30 p.m. for visitation. Service will be held at 2: 30 p.m. following visitiation in the GIFFEN- MACK Chapel. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery. Reception will follow interment at the Giffen-Mack ''Danforth'' Funeral Home and Cremation Centre.
