COLLINS, Reverend James Stephen -- (Member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Francis Marrocco Assembly, Peterborough) Peacefully at Marycrest Home on Sunday, November 10, 2002, in his 94th year. Dear brother of Reverend Monsignor Bernard COLLINS of Mesa, Arizona. Survived by several cousins. Predeceased by his parents James COLLINS and Anastasia FOLEY and brothers Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. COLLINS and John COLLINS and sisters Mae COLLINS and Anna BARRY. Father COLLINS attended St. Augustine's Seminary, Toronto and was ordained priest at the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains, Peterborough on June 15, 1935. Father COLLINS' pastoral assignments included St. Peter's, Parry Sound 1935-1942, Our Lady of Mercy, Honey Harbour 1942-1956, St. Paul's, Norwood 1956-1962, and Sacred Heart, Peterborough from 1962 until his retirement on February 17, 1984 after which he resided at Marycrest Home in Peterborough. Father James COLLINS will lie in state at Sacred Heart Church, 208 Romaine Street, Peterborough from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday. (Prayers 8 p.m. Tuesday). Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 1 p.m. Most Reverend James L. Doyle officiating concelebrated by his brother diocescan priests. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Douro. (Arrangements entrusted to Duffus Funeral Directors, Peterborough, 705-745-4612).

FOLEY, George Allan -- Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 18, 2002. Beloved soulmate and husband of Shirley for over 52 years. Loving father of Rod, Mark and Josie, Susan and Norm, Bryan and Sue, Drew and Elizabeth. Devoted grandfather to Lee, Emma, Tory, Lisa, Ryan, Jessie, Scott, Erica and Samantha. son of the late Jean and Howard FOLEY, and beloved brother of Howard, Yvonne, and the late Thelma; son-in-law of the late Anna and Lorne KENNEDY. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. West, at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Friday from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 3 o'clock, with a reception to follow. Margaret KIMEWON/ MANDAMIN, a former resident of Wikwemikong passed away at her residence in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at the age of 37 years.
Margaret was born in Little Current, daughter of Thomas and Yvonne {RECOLLET} KIMEWON. Margaret was a member of the Catholic Church. Loving mother of Derek and Leslie both of Sudbury. Dear sister of Henry RECOLLET (predeceased,) Rubina NEBENIONQUIT (husband Dean) of Naughton, Vivian RECOLLET of Toronto, Gladys PELTIER (Johnny JACKSON), and Yvonne RECOLLET (Wayne JACKO) both of Wikwemikong, Victoria KIMEWON (Randal DESMOULIN) of Sudbury, Kenneth KIMEWON of Toronto, May KIMEWON of Winnipeg, Eliza GRAY/GREY, Charlie GRAY/GREY and Thomas YOUNG. Dear and loving niece of Josephine WEMEGWANS of Wikwemikong. Also survived by many nephews and nieces and will be missed many extended family members. Funeral Mass was held from Holy Cross Church on Monday, February 25 with Father Bert FOLIOT as celebrant. Interment followed in Wikwemikong Cemetery, Wikwemikong. Joseph Ignatius JACKO
September 24, 1923-April 3, 2002
Joseph Ignatius Jacko, a resident of Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Wednesday April 3, 2002 at the age of 78 years. He was born at Wikwemikong, son of the late Louis and Therese {ROY} JACKO and had been a bachelor all his life. Ignatius (Ko-Ko-Lee) enjoyed the outdoors and was often seasonally employed. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, cooking, bingo scratch tickets, music and used to play guitar. Dearly loved uncle of Mary M. (GUTIERREZ), Armand, Eli Jacko, Brenda (FOX), Doreen (COMEUA), Ivey (ARMSTRONG), Richard, Robert, Jean and Theodore FLAMAND. Also survived by many grand-nieces, grand nephews and special Friends and relatives. Predeceased by sisters Mina {JACKO} ANTOINE and Agnes { JACKO} FLAMAND. Friends called the St. Ignatius Church on Thursday, April 4. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 6 at the Holy Cross Mission Church with Robert FOLIOT, Society of Jesus as celebrant. Interment at Wikwemikong Cemetery.

In loving memory of Julia PHEASANT, August 22, 1911-September 3, 2002.
Julia PHEASANT, a resident of M'Chigeeng passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Mindemoya on Tuesday September 3, 2002 at the age of 91 years. Julia was born in M'Chigeeng daughter of the late Raphael and Henrietta (BEAUCAGE) PHEASANT. Julia worked as a cook most of her life and returned to M'Chigeeng in 1994. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and traveling to various parts of Canada and the United States.
Dear and loving aunt of Ruth MIGWANS of M'Chigeeng and Ursula McLEAN of Sault Ste. Marie. Dear sister of Ambrose PHEASANT (predeceased.) Also survived by great nieces and great nephews. Friends and relatives called at the home of Ruth MIGWANS in M'Chigeeng on Wednesday September 4, 2002. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, September 5, 2002 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, M'Chigeeng with Father Robert FOLIOT officiating. Interment in M'Chigeeng Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Wellness Centre in M'Chigeeng would be appreciated. Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay in charge of arrangements.

Vincent ABEL
In loving memory of Vincent ABEL, February 16, 1919 to December 17, 2002.
Vincent ABEL, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, and formerly of M'Chigeeng, passed away at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at the age of 83 years.
He was the son of the late Marion and Jonas SHAWANGONABE. Vincent was a very good and well known violin player, playing all around the area for many years, and was a veteran of World War 2.
Predeceased by his wife Annabelle (SOUTHWIND) Abel. Loved father of Peter (Mary Ann) of Toronto, Alice (predeceased,) Viola ANTOINE (Alphonse predeceased) of Vancouver, Doris (predeceased,) Josephine of Regina, Leonard (Cecile) of Toronto, Boniface (predeceased), James of Ottawa, Ida of Windsor, Lawrence (Joanne) of Wikwemikong, Charles (predeceased), Sam (predeceased) and an infant daughter also predeceased. Also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Frank, Angus, Jonas, Johnny and other brothers and sisters.
Friends called the M'Chigeeng Complex on Thursday and Friday December 18 and 19. The funeral mass was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, M'Chigeeng on

OLMSTEAD, Denise Catherine -- October 25, 1925 - December 20, 2002 Denise OLMSTEAD, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay and formerly of Mississauga, died at the Mindemoya Hospital, on Friday, December 20, 2002, at the age of 77 years. She was born in London, England, daughter of the late Wm. Timothy and Anne (BUCKLAND) WALKER. Denise had been an R.N. in the Royal Air Force and also at the Scarborough Centenary Hospital and the Trillium Hospital, Mississauga. She had been a very active person, having been a member of the Girl Guides Lion's Club, and had been Co-founder of the Parents Without Partners Chapter in her area. She was fondly referred to as ''the Dutchess'', and will be remembered as a lady who kept others organized. Her greatest joys were being involved with her many Friends, her family and Parents Without Partners. Through these relationships, she was an inspiration and mentor to many. Denise never ''gave up'' and her inspiration and love of life will be cherished by family and all who knew her. Dearly loved and loving mother of Gloria and Bill KENNEDY of London and Terry and Rosanne OLMSTEAD of Gore Bay. Proud grandmother of Jessica, Jason and Jennifer. Dear sister of Bill and his wife Ruth WALKER of Kingston and Pat KERRISON of England. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. PARROTT, John Edward Ross - M.D. 1915-2002 -- Passed away quietly, after a lengthy illness at his residence in Oak Ridges on November 10, 2002. son of the late Lionel and Minnie (MAJURY) PARROTT. Husband of the late Jean (née DAVIES.) A graduate of University of Toronto - Medicine 1943. Served as a Medical Officer in W.W.II, stationed Prince Rupert, Alberni Valley and Vancouver General, British Columbia. His medical career was spent in the Scarborough area and served on staff at Scarborough General Hospital for many years. Ross was president of the Toronto East Medical Association 1958/59. He was one of the original doctors forming Physicians and Surgeons Inc. in the early 50's (predecessor of Ontario Health Insurance Plan). Was a member of Kew Beach United Church, Toronto and Glen Major Church, Uxbridge where he (along with his wife) was involved in the music departments using his Associate, Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto. Retired to run a small cattle hobby farm in Uxbridge Township 1967. Volunteered as part of the Medical Team at Haliburton Scout Reserve for 14 years 1981-1995. Enjoyed greatly reading, canoeing, sailing, golf, art and antiques. Was a member of the Scarborough Model Railroad Club. Will be greatly missed by caregivers Shirley and Thomas HUNTLEY, the Fred ROBINS family of Stouffville and the Edward FOLLOWS family of Richmond Hill and Friends Anne ELLIS, Marcia STILES, and Carolynne PHILLIPS. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Christian Blind Mission, Stouffville and Bob Rumball School of the Deaf, Toronto. Cremation followed by a Memorial Service on Sunday, November 24, 2002 at 2: 00 p.m. at Saint Anne's Anglican Church, 261 Gladstone Avenue, Toronto. Reception to follow.
