RING, Ernest J. -- Passed away peacefully, after a long illness at his home in Magnetawan on Friday, December 13, 2002. Ernest J. RING in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Elsie (née WYLIE.) Dear father of Laura WIESKE (John) of London, Kathryn RING of Toronto, James of Vancouver, British Columbia and Jennifer DESCHAMPS (Vince) of Harrow. Loving grandfather of Melissa WIESKE and Caleb DESCHAMPS. Survived by sisters Audrey BRYANT and Doris ASHBEE (John) both of Huntsville. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel of the Dempster-Allair Funeral Home in Burks Falls commencing at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2002. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations to the Burks Falls and District Health Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Elva Lauretta McGILLIS
In loving memory of Elva Lauretta McGillis, June 16, 1914 to December 6, 2002. Lauretta McGILLIS, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Friday December 6, 2002 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Tehkummah Twp., daughter of the late George and Laura (BAXTER) VINEY. She was a member of the United Church, loved growing flowers, especially her pansies and glads, and enjoyed knitting and sewing, having made many quilts. Lauretta was a hard working farm wife and mother, and will be fondly remembered for her pride, love and enjoyment of her children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Neil McGILLIS on February 26, 1993. Loving and loved mother of June LENTIR, (husband Russ HERRINGTON predeceased,) Robert and his wife Verlie McGILLIS of Mindemoya and Rick and his wife Debby McGILLIS of Trout Creek. Proud grandmother of Diane, Laura (husband George MARTIN,) Tammy (husband Cyle RITCHIE,) Patrick (friend Amy WALKER,) Ginger (husband Rick DESFORGE,) Victoria (friend Randy QUIRT) and great grandchildren George, Jennifer, Logan, Brittany, Zachary, Gavin and Samantha. Dear sister of Harry VINEY (wife Margaret predeceased,) Charlie (Lillian) VINEY, Glen (Margaret) VINEY, Joyce (Howard) HOLMES, Gladys, predeceased, husband Harry JAGGARD, Ruth, husband Wm. T. McCULLOUGH both predeceased and Grace, husband Carm HUNTER, both predeceased. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church on Sunday December 8, 2002. The funeral service was conducted on Monday December 9, 2002 at 2: 00 p.m. with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT TRACY officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery. Culgin Funeral Home

Blair COLEMAN
In loving memory of Blair COLEMAN who passed away at the West Nipissing General Hospital on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the age of 76.
Beloved husband of 50 years to Rita COLEMAN (née SAINT_ONGE.) Left to treasure his memory are his children Danny (Lucy) of Kitchener, and Nancy of Sturgeon Falls. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two grandchildren Terry and Amy. Dear brother of Eleanor (Walter MITCHELL) of Moncton, New Brunswick, Elvin (Debbie) of Long Island, Nova Scotia and Clyde of Springhill, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by son Bruce and by two brothers, Donald and Murray.
Mr. COLEMAN was a Veteran of World War Two, a member of the Rorab Shrine Club in North Bay, and a member of the Masonic G.R.N.S. Lodge No. 70 in Nova Scotia and a long time summer resident at Whitefish Lake in West Bay. The funeral service was conducted at the Theoret Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 with Cindy DESILETS officiating.

Margaret KIMEWON/ MANDAMIN, a former resident of Wikwemikong passed away at her residence in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at the age of 37 years.
Margaret was born in Little Current, daughter of Thomas and Yvonne {RECOLLET} KIMEWON. Margaret was a member of the Catholic Church. Loving mother of Derek and Leslie both of Sudbury. Dear sister of Henry RECOLLET (predeceased,) Rubina NEBENIONQUIT (husband Dean) of Naughton, Vivian RECOLLET of Toronto, Gladys PELTIER (Johnny JACKSON), and Yvonne RECOLLET (Wayne JACKO) both of Wikwemikong, Victoria KIMEWON (Randal DESMOULIN) of Sudbury, Kenneth KIMEWON of Toronto, May KIMEWON of Winnipeg, Eliza GRAY/GREY, Charlie GRAY/GREY and Thomas YOUNG. Dear and loving niece of Josephine WEMEGWANS of Wikwemikong. Also survived by many nephews and nieces and will be missed many extended family members. Funeral Mass was held from Holy Cross Church on Monday, February 25 with Father Bert FOLIOT as celebrant. Interment followed in Wikwemikong Cemetery, Wikwemikong. Robert Peter Lorne " GIMMAA-KE" ESHKAWKOGAN
In loving memory of Robert Peter Lorne ESHKAWKOGAN, age 42 years, who passed away Saturday, September 7, 2002 at Wikwemikong, Manitoulin Island. Lorne was born in Manitowaning in 1960. He married Linda JACKSON in Wikwemikong in 1993. Lorne was a self-employed Class "A" mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors. He will be remembered for his delightful smile and his great sense of humour and Friendship. Lorne was an active participant in the Rain Dance Ceremonies, acting as one of the grandfathers. He will be greatly missed by his wife, his children and his family and many Friends. Beloved husband of Linda (JACKSON) ESHKAWKOGAN of Wikwemikong, loving father of Lorne Jr., Angel, Leroy, Gertrude, Alanna, Frank, Lorelei, DeAnna, Tiffany, and Lindsay (predeceased). Cherished grandfather of Riley, Brandon and Lindsay. Dear son of Ivan and Jeanette DESMOULIN) ESHKAWKOGAN of Wikwemikong. ELLIOT/ELLIOTT, Matthew GEORGE Smith -- January 1917 - December 2002 With the love of family surrounding him, George died after a brief illness in his 86th year. A retired Civil Engineer (Queen's Science 1946). He will be sadly missed by his wife Phyllis, his children The Right Reverend George ELLIOT/ELLIOTT and wife Linda, Helen DESSART and husband Jacques and Judy Bullis ELLIOT/ELLIOTT. Survived by five loving grandchildren, James and Alice DESSART, Elizabeth and Matthew ELLIOT/ELLIOTT and Katie Bullis ELLIOT/ELLIOTT. George was a deeply caring family man and accomplished athlete who enjoyed playing golf, curling and hockey. Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 12 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to North York General Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
