BRIARD, Lorna (née TOOHEY) -- At Scarborough General Hospital on Sunday, November 10, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Lorna, beloved wife of Reverend Dr. Everett. Loving mother of Bruce, Mark (Janet), Joy (Steve Sisnett), and Melanie. Dear grandmother of Rachel, Shayna, Leah, and Danielle. Sister of Ronald (Montreal), Kenneth (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), Robert (Montreal), Beverly Madden (Lachute, Quebec), Geraldine (Montreal), and the late Ellen (N. Ireland) and Maureen. The family will receive Friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax (Pickering Village), 905-428-8488, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Funeral Service will be held at Bayfair Baptist Church, 817 Kingston Road, Pickering (east of White's Road) on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 11: 30 a.m. Interment Duffin's Meadow Cemetery. Should family and Friends so desire, donations to World Vision Canada would be greatly appreciated. A reception will follow the interment at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 35 Church St. North (Pickering Village), Ajax.

BRICKNELL, Nancy Agnes -- Peacefully at the Avalon Care Centre, Orangeville, on Saturday, December 14, 2002, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold and predeceased by her sister Margy SPARROW. Mother of Robert and his wife Ferne, Paul and his wife Gay, Janet and her husband Bob and Nancy. She will be missed by sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy and Charlie, Helen and Lloyd and brother and sister-in-law William and Davina. Lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy was a Nursing Sister overseas during World War 2 and she will be greatly missed by the many Friends she met and kept over the years. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter ''Peel'' Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy. 10, north of Queen Elizabeth Way) from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 9: 30 a.m. Interment Stamford Presbyterian Church, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Caring grandmother of Natalie and her husband Howard RUNDLE, Aaron and his wife Lucy, Jennafer and Matthew. Great-grandmother of Raven and Connor, Darren and Kobe. Predeceased by sister Aileen BRIDGE and brother Gordon CONNER. Longtime resident (52 years) of Clinton Street, recent resident of Chester Village Nursing Home. Friends will be received at the Cardinal Funeral Home ''Earle Elliott Chapel'' (Ossington Station Delaware Exit) on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel Friday at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Wife of the late Albert BRIDGLAND. Dear sister of Betsy WHALEN, Alice JAMIESON and the late Olive DODGE. Sister-in-law of Ralph JAMIESON and the late Dr. John WHALEN. Loving aunt of Carol (Charlie) STREET, Kathy JAMIESON, John (Chris) WHALEN, Terry (Sandra) WHALEN and the late Peter WHALEN. Great-aunt of Kerry, Cassie, Jamie, Jiri, Soji, Tim, Kelsey, Jared, Alyssa and Liam. A memorial service will be held at Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 4 p.m. Visitation one hour prior. BRIGGS, James ''Jim'' -- Age 65, passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous 1 1/2 year battle with cancer, on Friday, November 8, 2002 in Toronto, Ontario. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he emigrated with his family to Prince George, British Columbia in 1952. He lost his ''brogue'' quickly, had his first milkshake and played sports with a passion, especially soccer. He coached all three of his children in their athletic endeavours. He loved doing it whether it was in rainy, cold weather in Vancouver or the searing heat of Arizona. Retired with wife Nancy and son Matthew to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1991 and relocated back to Canada in 2002. Jim was a dual citizen of both Canada and the U.S.A. but Scotland was always in his heart. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (née Parker). Cherished and much loved father to Michael, Stacey and Matthew. Proud ''Let's Rock and Roll'' Grandpa of Anni. Dearly loved son-in-law of Eileen Parker, loving brother of Marion, brother-in-law of Lois Gough, Maureen and Jon James and uncle to Lisa, Julie and Emily. Jim will be sadly missed by all family and Friends in Scotland, England, Canada and Arizona and by his ex-wife Pat. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at the family's home at 182 Beech Avenue, Toronto on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 12 noon. Retired English consultant with the former Toronto Board of Education, textbook editor and book lover. Bruce wishes no formal observance of his passing, but a memorial plaque will be placed on a bench at his beloved English Bay in Vancouver.
