BARRETT, Sandra Irene (née POTTINGER) -- Peacefully in her sleep on November 16th, 2002, in her 59th year, at home in Don Mills surrounded by her family and Friends who dearly loved her. Beloved wife and constant companion of Bob; loving mother and eternal friend of Christopher and Melanie. Cherished daughter of Rene and the late Oscar POTTINGER. Dedicated sister of Lynda BECKFORD and husband Graham, and devoted aunt of Emma and Matthew. Caring and loving daughter-in-law to Marion and the late Campbell BARRETT. Dear sister-in-law of Nancy and Bob CLARKE, and loving aunt of Amanda, Stephanie and Robbie. Her battle with cancer was heroic, brave and relentless; enduring four operations, numerous chemo treatments as well as a phase I chemo experimental program. Sandra always put her Friends and family first. She suffered immeasurable pain, both physically and mentally without letting on to even her closest Friends or family members the extent of her situation. Others' wellbeing was more important to her than her own. Sandra will be sadly missed by the staff and employees of Barrett Technical Engineering Services of Markham, of which she was also a dedicated and loyal employee since its' inception; by the many Friends gained through participation in the programs and events of the Ontario Jaguar Owner's Association with husband Bob; as well as the long time Friends and associates gained through sailing activities with her family at Cathedral Bluffs Yacht Club. Sandra enjoyed the many years she spent canvassing for such charities as the Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Canadian Cancer Society, and she was most generous to many charitable causes that were worthy of her support and sponsorship. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (Colorectal Branch), or the Princess Margaret Hospital (Colorectal Wing), Toronto, would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to express special thanks to: Dr. SUI and the caring staff of Princess Margaret Hospital Dr. ZHENG and Tony PAAU R.N. of the Palliative Care Services serving North York. The family also wishes to express their sincere thanks for the help and devotion in caring for Sandra by close and dearest Friends: Tonny CLARKE, Teresa KRIJGSMAN, Marilyn OLIVARES, Nancy CLARKE and Di ZONNENBERG as well as so many Friends and family members. Visitation to be held on Thursday, November 21st, 2002 at The York Visitation, Chapel and Reception Centre - Toronto, 101 Senlac Road (entrance from Beecroft gates at North York Blvd., 416-221-3404) from 1: 30-2:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow in celebration of her life at 2: 30 p.m. in the cemetery chapel. She is gone but will never be forgotten, and Sandra is now at peace without pain or suffering. Her family and Friends mourn the loss of this jewel and exquisite diamond who touched us all.
