Phyllis Maxine {MARTIN} BAXTER
In loving memory of Phyllis Maxine {MARTIN} BAXTER, November 3, 1927-January 27, 2002.
Maxine BAXTER, a resident of Manitowaning passed away at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor, Little Current on Sunday, January 27, 2002 at the age of 74 years. She was born in Tehkummah Township daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret {HANER} MARTIN. Maxine and her late husband Henry built and operated the Buck Horn Motel in South Baymouth for many years. Maxine also worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Knox United Church Women's group and enjoyed knitting, reading and a good game of cards. Beloved wife of Henry L. BAXTER (predeceased 1974.) Dear and loving mother of Blaine (wife Bea) Winnipeg, Peggy (husband Brian) Espanola, Tim (predeceased 1973), Anne (husband Greg) Edson, Alberta, Tracy (husband Jamie) Sudbury. Loving grandmother of Terri, Kelly, Darren, Jeff, Christopher, Michael, Joellen, Alissa and Zachary and 3 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Girda SMELTZER, Wayne (wife Pauline,) Lloyd (predeceased) and Floyd. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, January 31, 2002 at the Manitowaning Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Wally WOOD officiating. Interment in the spring at Hilly Grove Cemetery. If so desired donations to the Lung Association or the Assiginack Museum Restoration Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Manitowaning Chapel Funeral Home.

Elva Lauretta McGILLIS
In loving memory of Elva Lauretta McGillis, June 16, 1914 to December 6, 2002. Lauretta McGILLIS, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Friday December 6, 2002 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Tehkummah Twp., daughter of the late George and Laura (BAXTER) VINEY. She was a member of the United Church, loved growing flowers, especially her pansies and glads, and enjoyed knitting and sewing, having made many quilts. Lauretta was a hard working farm wife and mother, and will be fondly remembered for her pride, love and enjoyment of her children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Neil McGILLIS on February 26, 1993. Loving and loved mother of June LENTIR, (husband Russ HERRINGTON predeceased,) Robert and his wife Verlie McGILLIS of Mindemoya and Rick and his wife Debby McGILLIS of Trout Creek. Proud grandmother of Diane, Laura (husband George MARTIN,) Tammy (husband Cyle RITCHIE,) Patrick (friend Amy WALKER,) Ginger (husband Rick DESFORGE,) Victoria (friend Randy QUIRT) and great grandchildren George, Jennifer, Logan, Brittany, Zachary, Gavin and Samantha. Dear sister of Harry VINEY (wife Margaret predeceased,) Charlie (Lillian) VINEY, Glen (Margaret) VINEY, Joyce (Howard) HOLMES, Gladys, predeceased, husband Harry JAGGARD, Ruth, husband Wm. T. McCULLOUGH both predeceased and Grace, husband Carm HUNTER, both predeceased. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church on Sunday December 8, 2002. The funeral service was conducted on Monday December 9, 2002 at 2: 00 p.m. with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT TRACY officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery. Culgin Funeral Home

Past away peacefully at Versa Care Nursing Home in Uxbridge on Friday, March 22, 2002. In her 100th year. Aggie, beloved wife of the late Gordon DUCKWORTH. Dear mother of Ron and his wife Ruth, daughter Doreen and her husband Norm JAMES. Grandmother of Karen HAMILTON, Keith DUCKWORTH, Gail BAXTER, Gary JAMES and Glen JAMES, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand_son. Aunt of four neices and nephews. Predeceased by sister Reta BRETHOUR, brothers Wendell, Dean and Carling ALCOCK. Resting at the Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge, 23 Main Street South (905) 852-3073, on Sunday, March 24th, 2002 from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel on Monday, March 25th, 2002 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment, Aurora Cemetery. Passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on Saturday, May 18, 2002. Survived by her loving husband Len of Madoc, children Diane DONLON of Madoc, Douglas DUCKWORTH and wife Marina, Deborah PAPPAS and husband Frank, and David DUCKWORTH, all of Toronto, three loving grand_sons Matthew, Mark, and William, all of Toronto, sister Ida FOREMAN, niece Judy CALDWELL and husband Dr. Tom CALDWELL and their children Chelsea and Josh, all of Vancouver, brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Rita DUCKWORTH and their children Michael and Lisa, all of Toronto, and in-laws Vera BYTAUTAS and William and Georgina PAPPAS, all of Toronto. Predeceased by her parents John and Ida BAXTER, and son-in-law Sergeant Ron DONLON, M.T.P. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Helen's Life will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 4 p.m. at The Simple Alternative, 275 Lesmill Rd., North York. In lieu of flowers, donations to Providence Centre (Birch House).
