Willard ELGIN CARLISLE
In loving memory of Willard ELGIN CARLISLE, March 26, 1911 - April 12, 2001.
Willard CARLISLE, a resident of Extendicare Falconbridge, Sudbury, died at his residence on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the age of 90 years. He was born in Aremosa Township (Guelph area), son of the late William and Mabel {WALKER} CARLISLE. He had worked for the Department of Highways for over 30 years. Willard was dedicated to his church, and was instrumental in the building of the Mindemoya Missionary Church. He was a great musician, and played many instruments including saxophone and trumpet, and only 16 years ago, learned to play the violin. He was proud of his family, and will be sadly missed by all.
Dearly loved husband of Sarah (Sadie) CARLISLE of Sudbury, loving father and father in law of Wayne and Jerry CARLISLE of Sudbury, Gary and Jacquie CARLISLE of North Bay and Colleen and Keith Spry of British Colombia. Proud grandfather of six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Dear brother of Anna NOBLE of Little Current and Evelyn and husband Ken MURRAY of Rockwood.
Friends have called the Missionary Church in Mindemoya from 10 - 11 am on Saturday, April 14, 2001. The Funeral service was conducted at 11: 00 am with Reverend Ray Kloetstra officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery.

Angeline SAMPSON/SAMSON
In loving memory of Angeline SAMPSON/SAMSON, August 29, 1904 - March 10, 2001.
Angeline SAMPSON/SAMSON {ENDANAWAS} , a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, and formerly of Sheshegwaning, died at the Nursing Home on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the age of 96 years. She was born in Sheshegwaning, daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie {WALKHOUSE} ENDANAWAS. She had many interests and hobbies, such as making baskets of sweetgrass, lace making, quilting, gardening and working in the bush and cutting wood. Angeline will be sadly missed by her many family members.
Angeline was predeceased by her first husband Albert NIGANIWINA. She later married Daniel SAMPSON/SAMSON who also predeceased her. Loving and loved mother of Georgina and her husband Angus CADA and Isaac NIGANAWINA all of Sheshegwaning, proud grandmother of 27 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughters Irene PITAWANAKWAT, Stella GODEN, Rita WABEGIJIG and infants Isaac and Edna, 1 great grandchild and brothers Joe, Adam, Daniel and sister Edna. Friends and relatives called at the Sheshegwaning Complex on Monday. The funeral mass was conducted at the Complex at Sheshegwaning, on Tuesday, March 13 2001 at 11: 00 am, with Fr. Bert Foliot officiating. Interment in Sheshegwaning Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Culgin Funeral Home.

Neil WALLACE MONTGOMERY
Peacefully at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Thursday, March 22, 2001 Neil MONTGOMERY of Spring Bay in his 90th year. Loved husband of Jean MONTGOMERY. Dear father of Jennifer and her husband Bill ORFORD of Spring Bay. Loved grandfather of Angela and her husband James MOGGY, and Amanda ORFORD. Great-grandfather of Corrie and Cassie MOGGY. Brother of John MONTGOMERY and William and his wife Irene MONTGOMERY, Olive REID of Windsor, the late Colin MONTGOMERY and the late Gladys PIERCE. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Neil was an avid sportsman, he loved to hunt, fish and participate in outdoor activities. He also enjoyed watching baseball and hockey. Funeral service was held at the Culgin Funeral Home with Pastor Frank HANER officiating. Interment Grimesthorpe Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay.

Suddenly on Sunday, April 1, 2001, Betty McGIBBON of Sheguiandah in her 63rd year.
Beloved wife of Hubert McGIBBON. Dear mother of Laura McGIBBON and her friend Fred of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and Donald McGIBBON and his friend Janine of Naughton. Loved daughter-in-law of Violet and the late Hugh McGIBBON of Gore Bay. Sister of Alberta GRAHAM of Sudbury, Irene and Bruce DUNCANSON of Silverwater, Gladys and Murray DUNCANSON of Naughton, Oliver and Susan COBURN of Espanola and the late Francis WALLACE and Barbara McCANNELL. Sister-in-law of Chester WALLACE, Launie McCANNELL, Elaine COOK, Mary PANTON, John LAWSON and the late Lila LAWSON.
Betty was born on Manitoulin Island. She and Hubert lived in Sudbury for 38 years before returning to Manitoulin to take up residence here. She was a talented craftsperson and attended as many craft shows and sales as possible. Many of her knitted items were worn proudly by Manitoulin Island residents.
Funeral service was held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 4 with Reverend Linda White officiating. Cremation to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay.

Tim CRONIN passed away peacefully at Finlandia Nursing Home, Sudbury, Ontario on Wednesday, August 22, 2001 in his 89th year.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (WALLACE,) 1964 and the late Lillian (WILSON- MANN,) 1990.
Loving father of Gerald CRONIN of Sudbury, Ontario, Lynne (Mrs. John WILSON) of Espanola, Ontario, Patricia (Mrs. Harry BOLL) of Port Coquitlam, BC and Nicki (Mrs. Grant Moffatt) of Red Deer Village, Ontario. Stepfather of Melva (Mrs. Robert COCHRANE) of Calgary, Alberta, Laura (Mrs. Gerald GRISWOLD) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Kent WILSON of Toronto, Ontario.
Very dear grandfather of Kelly CRONIN predeceased 1972, Keane (Lee Ann) CRONIN, Teressa CRONIN (friend Harry HODGES), Kathy (Mrs. Ray PILON), Kim (Mrs. Rob PENNER), Kari (Mrs. Jay MITROFF), Robbie (KELLY) GIROUX, Timmy GIROUX, Michelle SMILEY, Chad (Natasha) BOLL, Larissa (Mrs. Phil EADIE), Dana (Mrs. Steve McGUIRE). Dear great grandfather of 17. Keara and Keaden CRONIN, Devin and Kelsey PILON, Nathaniel, Jeremy and Michael PENNER, Joshua and Alexa MITROFF, Jessica, Alana and Cooper GIROUX, Jasmine and Joshua GIROUX, Amber and Joseph SMILEY and Teagan BOLL. Tim was born on September 17, 1912 in Cullross Township, Bruce County to the late Joseph and Mary Anne (WEISHAR) CRONIN. Brother of Marcella WEILER (late Bernie) of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Predeceased by sister Evelyn O'NEILL and brothers Wilbert and Michael. Tim was transferred to Manitowaning in 1932, with the Bank of Montreal, married and then set up his first business in Aurora, Ontario in 1935--returning to the Manitoulin Island in 1937. Tim operated Cronin's Crafts from 1939-1950 in Manitowaning and the T&K Gift Shop in Espanola from 1953. Tim was associated with the Stedman Chain for 57 years having owned and operated Cronin Stores in Manitowaning, Espanola and Sundridge. Tim was an avid golfer and one of the founding members of the Espanola Golf Club. He also enjoyed golfing in the winter months in Florida. As well he had a passion for curling and was a member of the Decades Club, faithfully attending the International Bonspiel in Quebec City. Tim was a member of the Espanola Lion Club, retiring in 1985. Tim had a love of sports and music--and those blue eyes were really twinkling as he entertained all with his unique sense of humour. Rested at the Bourcier Funeral Home in Espanola. Funeral Mass was held at St. Louis de France Church in Espanola on Saturday, August 25, 2001 with Father Al McMillan officiating. Interment in Espanola Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd., Espanola.

Alice BUIE
In loving memory of Alice BUIE (née WALSH) after a brief illness, on Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Tyndall Nursing Home, Mississauga, at the age of 94 years. Beloved wife of the late Willis. Dear sister of Mary SULLIVAN and the late Frank WALSH, Florence STAPLES and Ellen WHELAN. She will be remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families. Alice was a past president of the Catholic Women's League and very involved in numerous community groups and events in Toronto. Friends called the Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Islington and Kipling Aves.) from 7-9 pm. on Tuesday. Funeral Mass at St. Gregory's Church, 122 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke (at Kipling Ave.), on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 10 am. Cremation to follow.
