Francis Adelaide
MALOTT
In loving memory of Frances Adelaide
MALOTT who left her family and
Friends on January 29, 2001, at Manitoulin Centennial Manor. Beloved
wife of Larry
MALOTT
Loving mother of Robin and husband Paul
GOLDING
of Thamesford, Ont. Cherished grandmother of Todd and wife Diane of
Seneca Fall, New York Nicole and friend Brad of Otterville Judd and
friend Missy of London Great grandmother of Spencer.
Predeceased by first husband William Robert
COMMINS (1960)
son William Argyle(1982) and three brothers Curtis, Ray and John.
Fran was born to William and Rose Olive (née
WRAY)
HEYWOOD on
September 1 1909. She was raised in Portland Oregon, and Moose Jaw,
Saskatchewan. She attended Alma College in Saint Thomas, graduating in
Household Economics. Fran worked summers at Bigwin Inn as a
waitress, until her dream came true, when she was accepted for
nursing training at Sick Children's Hospital, graduating in 1934.
Fran was married in 1935 and lived in Scarborough, Ont. During a
hunting trip Bob fell in love with Manitoulin Island, returning to
purchase the Queen's Hotel, instead, bought land on Manitowaning Bay.
They arrived with odds and ends and two Siberian huskies, which was
their mode of transportation and where always ready to go...
Each winter she returned to Toronto to nurse and save, while a new
phase of Manitowaning Lodge was being built.
She found out she was capable of cooking, feeding staff, gardening,
book keeping, decorating, hostess, and raising two children. Fran
sold the lodge in 1961 and married Larry
MALOTT, a bank manager, who
made her life. They lived in Manitowaning, Mindemoya and Verona.
Larry retired and they built their new home in Little Current, over
looking the channel, and a new summer residence on Lake Manitou. She
loved fishing, golfing, and going in impossible places for her "wild
flowers". She was a life member of Assiginack Curling Club. She was
a wonderful cook, and a delightful hostess. She deeply cared for
people she met over the years, and formed many lasting Friendships.
Her grandchildren she deeply loved.
Fran's celebration of life will be 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday January
31 2001 with Funeral Service on Thursday February 1 2001 at 2: 00 p.m..
both at Island Funeral Home, Little Current.
