Velma HANER, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay, died at the Lodge
on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the age of 90 years.
She was born in Sandfield Township, daughter of the late James and Zella
{HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON}
JOHNSTON.
Velma had worked as a clerk at Wagg's and worked in
the post office in Mindemoya. She was a faithful and committed member of
the Mindemoya United Church for many years, and was very active in the
church. Velma was a member of the choir for many years, where she sang
alto, was treasurer of the United Church Women and the pastoral charge and a
life member of the United Church Women. She had a wonderful stamp collection
and enjoyed knitting.
Loving and loved mother of Harold and his wife Joan of Sault Saint Marie and
Douglas and his wife Georgina of Hamilton. Proud grandmother of Kevin and
Delise. Loved aunt of Elizabeth of Welland, Helen of B.C. and Robert of
Welland.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church after 7: 00 p.m. on Tuesday. The
funeral service will be conducted in the Church on Wednesday, May 23, at
11: 00 a.m. with Reverend Mary Jo
