Funeral service was held at Island Funeral Home on Friday, January 5 2001 with Reverend Richard Williams officiating. Burial at Hilly Grove Cemetery in the spring. Nellie DUNN of Espanola passed away at the Espanola General Hospital on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Charles DUNN (1980.) Dear daughter of the late William and Mary {JOHNSON} SMITH. Loving mother of Michael DUNN of Espanola and the late Jerry DUNN (1995) (wife Gail) of Markham.
Very dear sister of Mrs. Lottie NIGHSWANDER of Espanola and the late William, James, Floyd, Melvyn, Fred and John SMITH, Agnes NEVILLS, Nettie HEISE and Irene FILION.
Nellie was a 50 year member of the Catholic Women's League and a Life Member of the Espanola Horticultural Society. Funeral Mass was held from the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Espanola on Saturday February 24 at 10 a.m. with Father Al McMILLAN officiating. Interment in the Espanola Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd., Espanola.

In loving memory of Velma Alitha HANER, September 14, 2910 - May 18, 2001.
Velma HANER, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay, died at the Lodge on Friday, May 18, 2001 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Sandfield Township, daughter of the late James and Zella {HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON} JOHNSTON. Velma had worked as a clerk at Wagg's and worked in the post office in Mindemoya. She was a faithful and committed member of the Mindemoya United Church for many years, and was very active in the church. Velma was a member of the choir for many years, where she sang alto, was treasurer of the United Church Women and the pastoral charge and a life member of the United Church Women. She had a wonderful stamp collection and enjoyed knitting.
Loving and loved mother of Harold and his wife Joan of Sault Saint Marie and Douglas and his wife Georgina of Hamilton. Proud grandmother of Kevin and Delise. Loved aunt of Elizabeth of Welland, Helen of B.C. and Robert of Welland.
Friends called the Mindemoya United Church after 7: 00 p.m. on Tuesday. The funeral service will be conducted in the Church on Wednesday, May 23, at 11: 00 a.m. with Reverend Mary Jo ECKERT Tracy officiating. Interment in Mindemoya Cemetery.

Christena JOHNSTON, a resident of Manitowaning, passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Sunday, September 2, 2001 at the age of 90 years. She was born at Grimsthorpe, daughter of the late John and Arabella {LOUGHEED} McMILLAN. She had worked as a Registered Nursing Assistant. Christena enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and bingo. Predeceased by her loving husband John JOHNSTON in 1969. Loving and loved mother of Jacqueline and Jim BRYANT of Manitowaning and Vernon and Pauline JOHNSTON also of Manitowaning. Proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Dear sister of Erma McALLISTER of Spring Bay and Doris WEBB of Gore Bay. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Naomi and her husband Michael MORRISON and brothers Harold and Tommy.
The funeral service was conducted at the Manitowaning Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 4 with Reverend Frank Haner officiating. Interment in Grimsthorpe Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Manitowaning Chapel Funeral Home.
