Edith BEST, a resident of Manitoulin Lodge, and formerly of Gordon Township,
died at the Lodge on Thursday, January 25, 2001 at the age of 85 years. She
was born in Gordon Township, daughter of the late Edward
PARKER and Mary Ann

BROCKELBANK.
Edith lived in Gordon all her life, moving to the
Lodge in January of 1989. She was a homemaker, and had fulfilled a life-long
dream, graduating as a Health Care Aid. She was a member of Lyons Memorial
United Church, the Gordon Women's Institute, a past member of the
Gordon-Gore Bay Horticultural Society, and the United Church Women. Edith
had many hobbies, such as quilting, knitting and crocheting. Her greatest
pleasure was indoor and outdoor gardening, and took great pride in her
African Violets, Gladiolas and Dahlias.

December 10, 1905-June 14, 2001.
Lyman GIBBS, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, died at the Lodge on
Thursday, June 14, 2001 at the age of 95 years.
He was born in Gore Bay,
son of the late John and Minnie
(TOMLINSON)
GIBBS,
and had lived most of his life in Gore Bay. In his early years, Lyman went
to work as a butcher in Detroit, and worked there until Depression came
along, then returned to Gore Bay in 1935 and opened his own butcher shop.
He ran that until about 1950, when he went to work at Bud's Groceries, and
later worked at Barney Graham's Lockers and finally finished his career at the Central Store.
Lyman had been one of the organizers of the Boy Scouts in town, was
caretaker of the Lyons Memorial United Church for many years, a member of
the school board for many years, was an avid curler and was a member of Gore
Bay Masonic Lodge #472 A.F. and A.M., and was presently the oldest member of
the Lodge. Many happy times and memories will be cherished by his family
and Friends. He will be sadly missed.
Lyman was predeceased by his loving wife Catherine Ardath Victoria

Olive and Florence and brothers Cliff, Harvey and Arthur.
Friends called the Culgin Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday. The
Funeral Service was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel on Sunday June 17,
2001 at 1: 00 p.m. with Pastor Les Cramp officiating. Interment in Gordon
Cemetery. If so desired, donation may be made to the Manitoulin Lodge, the
Lyons Memorial United Church or the Gore Bay Medical Centre. Gore Bay
Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 6: 45 p.m. on Saturday evening.
