CLARE, “Tom” Thomas James
In loving memory of Thomas J. “Tom”
CLARE, 84 years of Sudbury,
who passed away Saturday morning, January 6th, 2001, at the Sudbury
Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Born in Liverpool England, he
married Aletha
(HAMILTON) in 1971 in Scarborough. Tom came to the
Sudbury area at age 5. He served overseas during World War II with
the Canadian Army. A proud veteran, he was a faithful member of the
War Pensioners of Canada, through his hardwork and vision, the
Fields of Honour was established at Civic Cemetery. During his
working life he had lived in Southern Ontario when he worked for the
Hudson Bay Co., the Livingston Mutual Warehousing Co. and the
Canadian Commissioners. He returned to Sudbury in 1986 from Scarborough.
A man of faith, he regularly participated in the ministry and fellowship of
St. Andrew’s United Church. An avid gardener, he had a special keeness
in growing roses. Tom was an outstanding Canadian and Sudburian who made a
difference in improving the lives of others. He embodied the biblical
characters of a good Samaritan and caring shepherd and like St. Paul can echo
the words “I have fought the good fight, I have finished by course,
I have kept the faith.” Beloved husband of Aletha

BOURGEOIS, 3rd Degree Midewiwin kwe of the Bear Clan,
passed away at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, Toronto, on Thursday March
1, 2001 at the age of 39 years. Lilly was born in Little Current, daughter
of John OSWAMICK and the late Florence
{NAGANIGWANE}
OSWAMICK.
Lilly was a
teacher of the Ojibwe language in Peterborough for the past two years. She
also enjoyed teaching traditional customs such as jingle dress dancing, drum
making and strived for the wellness of all who knew her through health and
fitness workshops. Lilly was the Chief Jingle Dress Dancer of the Three
Fires Midewiwin Lodge.

Saturday March 3, 2001. Funeral Service was held on Monday March 5 2001
at Wasse Abin High School at 10 am with Lee Staples officiating. Interment
in Wikwemikongsing Cemetery.
