REID: response
It would seem that Orangeville is the best place to search for descendants
of Thomas REID and Elizabeth WANGHOP, as their gravestone is in Greenwood Cem
there:
Thomas REID born 1813, died 2 Sep 1895,
his wife Elizabeth born 1813 died 26 Jul 1892,
both natives of Ireland ....
William REID born 1842 died 13 Nov 1866,
Robert A. REID born 1852 died 20 May 1889.
There are also nearby stones for Joshua REID 1849-1935,
James B. REID 1836-1920 and his wife Mary HUNTER,
Thomas Freeman REID 1838-1930 and his wife Ellen LAMB,
and John C. REID 1840-1925 and his wife Mary GILLESPIE.
There are many grandchildren of Thomas REID also named on
stones in this cemetery.

WATERHOUSE name_game@ca.on.ogs.families 2001-05 published
WOOD: WOODS: response
A marriage from the Simcoe co Mar Reg vol 1 p39 seems to answer the query:
William Silvester WOOD 25 of Tecumseth, born Canada,
son of Amos and Eleanor {WATERHOUSE} WOOD
and Elizabeth HALL 23 of Tecumseth born Ireland,
dtr of Henry and Elizabeth {DAVIDSON} HALL,
married 31 oct 1860 by Rev. William FRASER,
United Presbyterian minister of Bond Head.
Witness William HALL of Tecumseth.
A gravestone in Allenwood Cem, Flos twp may be for this family:
Elizabeth wife of William WOOD died 19 Sep 1893 age 56 yrs,
Clarkson WOOD died 19 Mar 1883 aged 25yrs 6 mos.
The birth date fits well for Elizabeth of the above marriage,
but the birth of Clarkson is a couple of years before the marriage ..
perhaps just a coincidence in names, but worth looking at further.

KELLOW : respose
Perhaps one of the persons mentioned in the query is buried in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, Toronto, where there is a gravestone for Moses Smith KELLOW
1834-1907 and his wife Ann MARTIN 1832-1916.
In case it may be of interest, some other emigrants from Cornwall are
mentioned on a gravestone in Hagerman Methodist Cemetery, Markham twp
York co, just north of Toronto:
Jane KELLOW 1831-1897, wife of John WEBBER 1827-1904,
also Elizabeth KELLOW 1826-1886, wife of Thomas JEFFERY.
Both Kellow ladies are stated to be natives of Cornwall,
while John WEBBER was from Devonshire.
The index to the 1871 census for York County shows John WEBBER
as a hotelkeeper in Markham twp.
There is no entry for Moses SMITH KELLOW in the index for Toronto city,
showing that he was not there by 1871.

BLACK: response
There are gravestones in the Old Protestant Cemetery, Brockville for
James BLACK , James SABINE, and his wife Susannah:
James BLACK Esq died 15th April 1845 aged 77 yrs,
James SABINE, slept in Jesus 2 March 1858 aged 69 yrs,
Susannah SABINE entered into life 2 Dec 1881 aged 84 yrs.
A notice in the Brockville Recorder on the 8th of Dec 1881:
"Deaths. At Montreal on Friday the 2nd December, Mrs. Susannah BLACK,
widow of the late James SABINE Esq."
The Wentworth co Mar Reg p81 has the marriage of John Aston WILKES of Detroit
to Alice TRUMAN SABINE 25 of Hamilton, born Canada,
dtr of Jas SABINE and Susannah BLACK, on 26 Mar 1862.
Although the query does not give James BLACK a daughter named Susannah,
it would seem quite logical that James may have been visiting or residing
with a daughter when he died at Brockville in 1845. Of possible interest is
a notation in the Court of Probate where it seems that Susannah wants the
will of her late husband James SABINE settled without delay, so that she can
apply to England for a pension from the East India Company.

HAINES : response
Marriages for at least 2 and possibly 3 children of James and Joan HAINES are found
in the published marriage records of Grey County. Vital Stats Marriages vol 5 p77: George
HAINES 27 of Meaford born Canada
son of James and Jean married 15 Oct 1870 Martha
SMITH at Meaford. Vol 21 p 107: Robert HAINES 24 of Meaford, born Toronto,
son of James
and Johanna married 19 Nov 1871 Abigail VAN_WYKE at Meaford. Grey County Marriage
Register p115: James P. HAINES 23 of Meaford born Canada
son of James and "Ruby" married
17 Jul 1865 Mary J. CARNAHAN. Given the fact that these records are copies of copies of the
original records, is "Ruby" a corruption of "McRoby" which the query says is the surname of
Mrs James HAINES? There is a gravestone in Lakeview Cemetery, Meaford: HAINES: George
1843-1927, Martha Jane 1850-1901, Margaret 1871-1878, Ella 1873-1878, Mary Ann 1875-
1878, Maurice M. 1897-1899.
