FYI: Upcoming Festive Heritage Events

Here are a few festive heritage events taking place in some of Toronto’s historic museums throughout the Christmas season:

Colborne Lodge

If you are going to be in the High Park area, why not pay a visit to historic Colborne Lodge and see its halls all decked out for a Victorian Christmas.  Raise of glass of good cheer, mulled cider, and sample some authentic Victorian era holiday treats.

Holiday admission prices apply: Adults $7.08, Seniors $4.42 Youths $3.81, Children $4.42 (plus tax)

Dates: This event is on now, and runs through to January 6, 2013

Times: Tuesdays to Sundays, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm; Closed Mondays, December 25, 26 and January 1st.

Colborne Lodge is also offering Christmas Cookie Creation for Children, 8 to 10 years of age.  These are not just any old Christmas cookies.  Kids will participate in a historic baking workshop, using a Canadian Gingerbread recipe from the 1830s.  While the cookies bake, the kids can tour the house, learn about Victorian Christmas traditions, and take in all the festive decorations.  They can also take their cookie creations home with them!

Pre-registration and pre-payment required. $22.50 plus tax (includes supplies and a dozen cookies to bring home).

MacKenzie House

Take a step back in time and experience Christmas in a 1859 Victorian row house.  MacKenzie house is festooned in festive greenery and offering samples of mulled cider and biscuits to celebrate the season.

Holiday admission prices: Adults: $7.08; Seniors: $4.52; Youth and Children: $4.42 (plus tax).

Date: This event is on now and runs through until Sunday, January 6, 2013. (closed December 25,26 and January 1st)

Time: Tuesday to Friday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
