In Memoriam: Cliff Collier

We are sad to share with you the passing of long time OGS volunteer, Cliff Collier. Cliff passed away peacefully on Monday February 21, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. His obituary and details of the planned memorial can be found in the Toronto Star .

OGS owes a lot to Cliff’s enthusiasm and tireless dedication over the years. An avid genealogist, his involvement with the Society led him to wear many hats. He was Education Co-ordinator for our Toronto Branch as well as the Chair of the Provincial Library Committee where he was instrumental in the development of our library catalogue.

In addition to being an OGS author, Cliff was also a driving force behind our publishing division as he coordinated the publishing process. For many years, every OGS book contained his personal touch. His fellow committee members have fond memories of the time they spent working with him. His vivacious sense of humour provoked much laughter and a pot of tea was always nearby.

Cliff’s contributions have left a lasting impression on the Society. While we miss him dearly, we are comforted by the knowledge that his work will live on and in that way he will always be with us.
