Title: Recording Source Citations Using Family Tree Maker or Legacy Family Tree.

Learn how to accurately and easily record source citations using Family Tree Maker or Legacy Family Tree software using their source template systems. You will learn how to record different categories of sources such as census, vital records, church records, etc., and how to treat those sources, whether they originated from a document, microfilm, digital source or from secondary sources such as books, newspapers and family lore.

November 10:

Liz Robbins, a long time member of the branch will share with us a short film about her beloved Mother Emma MacPherson McFadyen, which Liz wrote directed and produced entitled "My Mother the Hero". Liz’s film was “showcased" at Women in Film and Television, in Toronto last March. Out of 5 hours of screening, 8 short films were chosen and hers was one of them.

The speaker at our November meeting will be a scholarship winner from the Vimy Foundation.

Each year, the Vimy foundation sponsors an essay contest, and in 2011 two of the ten winners from a cross Canada were from St. Catharines! These young people spent two weeks this summer visiting important sites connected with the two World wars and particularly World War I. One week was spend in France with the emphasis on Vimy. One of these winners will describe their experiences and impressions.
