Welcome to the Kingston Branch Web site!

As a branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society we encourage and assist those interested in family history in the local geographical area, including the City of Kingston and the counties of Frontenac and Lennox-Addington. As individuals, our research interests span the globe. Even if their current residence is the only Kingston connection they have, many people join our branch to connect with others who share their interest in family history.

Our society is a branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, and includes members living in the local area, throughout North America, and overseas.

This website is an entry point in learning about and using the genealogical resources in this area. We provide explanations of our branch activities and links to resources in the Kingston area and around the world.

Visitors may find information on how to post queries about the people they are researching, so that other family historians can make connections to their own research.

The Kingston Branch maintains a library of genealogical reference works, and a catalogue of published works that can be provided to interested researchers.

Kingston Branch actively supports the transcription of cemeteries within Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Counties as well as other local records such as church registers. Searchable indexes to names in these cemetery transcriptions may be found at the OGS Cemetery Index and also in the web site of the Ontario Cemeteries Finding Aid, a site which has not been updated since 2003 but is still maintained. Click here for branch policy on cemetery inquiries and look-ups.

Kingston Branch is part of Region 8 of the Ontario Genealogical Society. An organizing committee working on behalf of the branches in Region 8 is currently holding a competition to create a logo for the 2012 Annual Conference of the Ontario Genealogical Society. Click here for more information.
