Board of Directors and Executive Council
OGS is governed by a Board of five executive officers (President, Vice President, Vice President - Finance, Secretary, and Past President) and ten Regional Directors. The Board sets policy which is carried out by the Executive Director and staff. Each of our thirty Branches operates independently within guidelines established by the Society as a whole.
Bylaws are approved by the Society as a whole (OGS Bylaws). Each Branch also has Bylaws and an Operations Manual. Much policy development is directed by a number of committees (Policy and Procedure, Bylaws and Resolutions, Nominations, Strategic Planning, Finance, Awards, Education, Enquiries, and Library), each of which reports to the Board.
Call for Nominations
The Ontario Genealogical Society invites nominations from members, Branches, and Regions of individuals willing to serve as officers of the Society. The two officers to be elected for a two year term (2010-2012) are:

Nominees must be members of the Society in good standing. As they will be Directors of the Society, they must be Canadian citizens (Bylaw 4.3.1)
Each nomination must be made on the Society Nomination Form and carry ten signatures of current voting members, together with OGS numbers, current addresses , and telephone numbers. This information is used for verification and follow-up by the Nomination Committee. As well, the written acceptance by the nominee of the nomination is required. Each nominee must also complete and submit a Biographical Form which outlines the candidate's qualifications, experiences, and talents for the position. These two forms are available from the address below.
As officers of the Society, the elected candidates will serve on the Board of Directors, which meets quarterly and at Seminar to set policy governing the Society and guiding the Society toward its objectives. The individuals also will serve on the Executive Council which manages, supervises, and co-ordinates the activities and programs of the Society on behalf of the Board and which reports to the Board.
