Call for Nominations

The Ontario Genealogical Society invites nominations from members, Branches and Regions of individuals willing to serve as officers of the Society. The two (2) officers to be elected for a two (2) year term (2011-2013) are:

Secretary and Vice-President, Finance

Nominees must be members of the Society in good standing. As they will be Directors of the Society, they must be Canadian citizens (By-Law 4.3.1)

Each nomination must be made on the Society Nomination Form and carry ten (10) signatures of current voting members, together with OGS numbers, current addresses and telephone numbers. This information is used for verification and follow-up by the Nomination Committee. As well, the written acceptance by the nominee is required. Each nominee must also complete and submit a Biographical Form which outlines the candidate’s qualifications, experience and talents for the position. These two forms are also available from the OGS Provincial Office at the address below or by telephoning 416-489-0734.

As officers of the Society, the elected candidates will serve on the Board of Directors, which meets four (4) times a year as well as at Conference to set policy governing the Society and guiding the Society toward its objectives. The individuals also will serve on the Executive Council which manages, supervises and co-ordinates the activities and programs of the Society on behalf of the Board and reports to the Board.
