How to Support OGS

The Endowment Fund

The OGS started its Endowment Fund in 1995 in order to have a permanent income to replace government grants (then $45,000 and slated to decrease rapidly). A second objective of the Fund was to provide some money for new undertakings. We estimate that the Fund should be at least a million dollars in order to earn the money needed for these objectives. We have not withdrawn any money from the fund, although the Board has approved potential withdrawals, provided the withdrawal is less than the earnings of the Fund in the previous year. This ensures that the Fund continues to grow due to the remaining earnings and to donations. We will continue to ensure growth until the Fund reaches its million dollar target.

By giving to the OGS Endowment Fund, you perpetuate your charitable interest in the study of family history and strengthen the role of the OGS in securing the heritage of our province.

When you make a donation to the Endowment Fund, please fill out the Direction. This enables us to hold your donation for ten years. Without the Direction, we would have to spend 80% of your donation.

Other Donations

If you wish, you can donate money directly to Operations, Library, Website, or the Cemetery Defence Fund. These donations are spent immediately and so do not require the Direction. You can also donate to any of our 30 Branches. We pass this money directly to the Branch.

We gratefully accept donations in kind, particularly books for our Library. Please contact the Provincial Office if you are considering a donation in kind.
