Research Room

We are very excited and grateful that the following companies have agreed to provide free access during the weekend of Conference to their subscription databases.

Ancestry.ca  — providing access to the Ancestry World Deluxe collection of records

FindMyPast.co.uk — access to British census, immigration and emigration, church records, and many others

FindMyPast.ie — access to a growing collection of Irish records

Fold3 — American military records and some US newspapers

Gale News Vault — digitized newspapers, mostly British but some US, from the 18th century onward

Genes Reunited — British records, particularly indexed birth, marriage and death records

Paper of Record — early newspapers from around the world

The Genealogist.co.uk — a variety of British records including land records and numerous directories

You will be able to sign up for a one-hour time period from Friday afternoon through to Sunday, and will be able to use any of these databases.  You’ll be able to save images from your successful searches to a USB flash drive.

These databases will only be available within the Research Room.  Sorry, we cannot provide you with access on your own laptop computer.

For another exciting research opportunity at Conference, see “Anglican Archives”.

  1. You’ll be able to check the index to the records of 600 Anglican parishes within the Diocese of Ontario by consulting their display at Conference, staffed by volunteers. If you do find people in the index, you can then contact the Anglican Archives and give them the register and page number, and ask for a copy.. To contact the Archives, see http://www.ontario.anglican.ca/joomla/ and click on “Our Ministries” and then “Archives”.

  2. Where do I look for information on Anglican Archives?
