Kingston is well served by VIA Rail, with multiple departures daily from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and places en route.

For those of you coming from a greater distance, Air Canada Jazz flies between Toronto’s Pearson Airport and Kingston’s Norman Rogers Airport.

Those flying Porter Air from cities it serves (Chicago IL, Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Windsor, Boston MA, New York City, Moncton, Quebec City and St. John’s NL) land at Toronto Island Airport.  You may find that Porter provides a less expensive alternative from these cities when flying to Toronto.  Porter offers a free shuttle for the 10-minute ride to the Royal York Hotel; walk across the street to Union Station and take the train (VIA Rail) to Kingston.

A more economical way to travel from Pearson Airport to Kingston is the Airport Bus which makes three daily trips from Pearson to Kingston:  http://www.coachcanada.com/coachcanada/ss.airport.asp.

Megabus connects Kingston with Toronto and Montreal.

Greyhound provides service from Toronto, Ottawa and many other Ontario cities.

If you’re driving, take either exit 613 Sydenham Road (if coming from the west) or exit 615 Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard (if coming from the east) off Highway 401:
- From exit 613, come south on Sydenham Road until it ends at Princess Street. Turn left onto Princess Street and continue east to Portsmouth Avenue (the 3rd light after Sydenham Road).  Turn right and proceed south on Portsmouth Avenue.
- From exit 615, come south on Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard to Johnson Street. Turn right onto Johnson Street, then left at the next stoplight, which will be Portsmouth Avenue. Proceed south on Portsmouth Avenue.
St. Lawrence College will be on the right, south of Johnson Street.

For those staying in residence, there is free parking behind the residence.
For those not staying in residence, there is a large parking lot north of the academic building.  Parking there is free on Saturday and Sunday; on Friday before 5 p.m., it is necessary to “Pay and Display” (maximum $5 for the day).

Taxis are plentiful in Kingston, and a taxi ride from the airport, train or bus station to the college should cost about $15 depending on time of day and traffic. (There are taxi lift phones at all locations.) If you need to call a taxi at any time, the companies are:

  • Amey’s Taxi (613-546-1111)
  • Modern Taxi (613-546-2222)
  • Kingston and Amherst Taxi (613-542-3333)

Note that cabs do not cruise in Kingston and cannot be flagged down on the street. However, they generally arrive within 5 to 8 minutes of your call. (Note that you must include the area code (613) for all telephone calls in Kingston and area.)

Kingston Transit buses (Route C) stop at both train and bus stations; transfer at the Kingston Centre transfer point to a Route 2 or 3 bus to St. Lawrence College. Kingston Transit’s web site is http://www.cityofkingston.com/residents/transportation/transit/index.asp – you can use the Trip Planner to check how the bus schedules mesh with your arrival at the train or bus station.
